Added 2024-12-23 13:48:55 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 1 episode 25 of Haikyu!! Wow you guys, I was wrong about this being it for the third years!!! I'm still not sure of the specifics, and I'm all for focusing on education, but dang, I think this is something they really need to do! I'm also really happy to see them all learning and recovering and focusing on a brand new goal! Spring tournament, here we come!!! Enjoy! ~ MH

Yeah I see what you're saying with the tournament situation! Ohhh that's a fun note about Shimada's VA! Yeah that's true, this is their passion, and it doesn't necessarily mean they'll never get into college or something. Their catharsis scene was so intense, I'm actually really glad they got it out though! It's crazy that the other school lost, it goes to show how good their opponents were. Something to keep in mind for the future, I'm sure!! I'm excited to see some of the teams again! Yeah that's true, we've got a ways to go before we get there!!! I know they can do it though!

2024-12-24 19:45:07 +0000 UTCSo I’m not completely clear on the third-years situation since I am not a Japanese student, but I took the whole situation to be this: the Inter-High tournament, the gateway into nationals, is the biggest deal for the volleyball clubs, and they just lost. (Think of it like a NFL team getting knocked out of the playoffs before winning the Super Bowl). However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t other tournaments that can be played: just that the big prize is off the table. Shimada (the guy coaching Yamaguchi on the side) can empathize with him - he’s frustrated because he doesn’t have the raw skill of a Hinata or a Kageyama - and yet he feels like on his one shot he let the team down. It might not be how they feel but that’s the internal mindset of a competitive athlete. Fun side note, Shimada is voiced by Decim/Kinro/Veldora/Sun’s VA. I got the feeling the discussion regarding the third years is more about their future plans - logically, they don’t have much to gain from continuing, especially now that the Inter-High is over. They aren’t doing it because it’s something they have to do - it’s something they want to do. The teachers are concerned that they’re spending time that could be used elsewhere. There’s nothing that says “if you continue to play volleyball,” these doors will close to you. It’s more about time management. I mean, when you were in school, did you go watch shows because you had to do it? It’s the same concept but on a higher level. I think on a base level Kageyama and Hinata finally understood each other when they saw how frustrated the other was about losing. While you’re right that they were doing something cathartic, you wouldn’t want to say any of that to their faces. When a competitor is coming off a loss, you give them space until they calm down themselves mentally. But apparently their racket got everyone else into the guys so…? Aoba Johsai (also called Seijoh, for short) - was beaten - which shocks the team. But the team that beat them is even better. That just shows how tall the hill is they have to climb. One positive thing about there being another tournament is you can probably bank on seeing some of the same teams there that we ran into last time. Seijoh, Date Tech, and Nekoma were shown - but the giant obstacle that dwarfs the prefecture has yet to truly introduce themselves to the upstart crows. But one cannot worry about the top without focusing on the next obstacle in front of them first. Maybe by this time Karasuno will have worked out it’s flaws and truly jelled as a team. Only time will tell.
