Arcane 2x05 "Blisters and Bedrock" - reaction & review

Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 2 episode 5 of Arcane! Oh dang guys!!! I gotta say, nothing makes me happier than to see the girls all back together again....and with their papa no less!!! Love that Isha is an honorary fam member now too!! But dang guys, a lot of other things are escalating fast! What's going on with Mel? What the fudge happened to Jayce?!?! Can't wait for more! Great ep! Enjoy!! ~ MH

Yeah the montages have been super helpful for showing snippets of what's been going on and for how long. Omg I know, they really switched places! I love the sibling banter lol, and good call on the blood, I didn't realize that. Who knows what's really going on with Mel! So curious about her parentage though. It's even more sad to think about the Vander/Silco situation now that we have more info. I'm getting some real Mr. Freeze vibes from Singed, not what I would've pictured but very interesting. I think you're right that it's possible that a LOT of time has passed for Jayce, and I don't think I picked up on the goo state specifically, that's interesting.

For real!! Omg I know, why couldn't we just have sweetness for a while! Jinx's story has gone SO differently than I would've imagined! Omg I know, like not that I was super attached to Salo either, but what the heck!!!

Nope :/

What a freaking episode! Seeing all of them like that warmed my heart, but it is heartbreaking to see how far south things went. So much time was lost. Seeing how much Jinx has grown, especially with Isha, is wild. And wow, what happened to Jayce? Where has he been? I was not a big fan of Salo, but what an abrupt end for him. He didn't deserve that. 😬

I think the first shots of this episode are fairly clever in indicating the passage of time - obviously, we knew some of that from the last episode, but clearly, Vi has been in a bit of a hellhole for a while. That’s a bit ironic, when you think about everything Jinx had to put up with up until now. Vi had mostly been getting hopeful, while her sister was spiraling, now the shoe is on the other foot. The whole sibling banter in the tunnel thing was fairly accurate, right down to the bickering. Siblings will fight. The blood that was dropped by Aisha when she got in the middle was what lured Warwick/Vander to their position. Mel has her own problems because that she’s been trapped in some sort of hallucination - and as the episode went on it became clearer that nothing was really what it seemed. I think the biggest questions here obviously, are, 1) how much of what is being presented is true, and 2) based on the factual accuracy of #1, who was the father? As for the flashback with the three of them, Felicia mentioned the dad’s name was Conner. It’s heavily implied, at least. Regarding the letter that Vi and Jinx found, my guess is Vander was referring to the big fight they had in the water last season where Silvio was nearly killed. No wonder everyone became jaded. Ambessa and Caitlyn have their own motives for hunting down the beast, but apparently Singed did all this to save somebody. You know what they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions… Speaking of hell, Jayce must’ve gone through a lot here because he came out looking to eliminate Hextech. I can’t confirm how long he’s been in there but if time passed for Vi and Caitlyn, did time flow differently? I think they all got sucked in last week so maybe it was one of those weird timey wimey things. Also did you notice that when he went after Salo it just looked like he turned into goo? I should push on. These are long batches. 😅

So Vi did not take that breakup well
