Death Parade 1x09 "Death Counter" - reaction & review
Added 2024-11-15 13:28:54 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to the ninth episode of Death Parade! OMG!!!!! This story just gets more and more and more intense and stressful!!! The back and forth of the boy being the one to kill the detective....but me thinking that was a case of mistaken identity....only to find out what the detective did...!!!!! I really felt for our girl here, she was trying so hard to make the system more fair. But in the end, it looks like the anger/despair won out :( So I'm guessing they were both sent to the void?! God you guys, this one was rough! Happy Friday I guess LOL!!! Great stuff! Enjoy! ~ MH

I agree, whether or not it's up to an individual to exact that kind of justice, there definitely are people who do not deserve to breathe (like anyone who would brutalize someone the way Sae's attacker did). I see what you mean, with no solid evidence of...that....occurring it's not 100% definite, but I doubt there's anyone who would doubt someone who saw a crime most likely about to take place, stepping in and intervening, and whoops....the attacker gets killed in the struggle....just saying. Plus if he doesn't really care about the law anyway and is carrying out his own justice, he makes the rules anyway. Yeah once he said that line about it being someone else if it wasn't the sister, you can really see how cold his perspective is. I think Shimada had a decent chance at the good option too, but dang, who could stand up to that kind of goading after all he'd been through? I could definitely see neither of them being absolved. Omg can't you feel the good disco vibes after this one?!!? :P

OMG I know, like the fact that torture was involved adds another layer to it. That's the thing, they really show just how far a person can fall if they're pushed that way. I have to say that I can't blame Shimada either! Tatsumi was just so far gone and the thought that he watched everything just makes me sick! Our girl was awesome here!!! That was a chill-worthy scene for sure! This one's definitely top notch!!!

2024-11-16 20:07:21 +0000 UTC“In order to achieve one’s goals, sacrifices must be made.” I started to think when Tatsumi (this feels weird because I know another character from an anime I really like by that name), is talking about the stuff he’s seen that this is probably a good explanation about why he’s so jaded about everything. Let’s think about that one statement: “There are some people who would be better off dead.” Yes, that’s true. I’m not questioning the validity of either’s feelings here. But there’s also the counter argument summed up in a rather well known movie: “Many that live deserve death. Yet some that die, deserve life. Can you give it to them?” By the time Tatsumi got to this point his humanity is pretty much gone. However appalled I might be at his actions in this episode, I do have to at least say I understand why he’s thinking this way. You mentioned during the reaction “there’s a 90 percent chance he’s doing to Sae exactly what you think he’s doing!” Okay, so… what about the other ten percent? This is conjecture, but what if he tries to do this the way we would’ve preferred before, and because there was no victim, the perpetrator was able to get off? That is easily the whole devil’s advocate thing here. “If it wasn’t your sister, it would’ve been someone else.” Clearly at this point he didn’t really think about how this would affect anyone and he was just looking for a way to make his desired outcome get justified. I should talk a bit about Decim here because it seems that he’s a little taken aback especially when the assistant steps in. Now that I think about it there’s definitely some manipulative elements in what he’s doing, but as she is correctly pointing out, there is no way he can grasp the full concept of human emotion as he has no personal experience with it. I think his hesitation was more confusion processing everything she was saying and it also made him start to wonder if he was making the wrong decisions. As for Shimada, we’ll, who can blame him for feeling this way? Not only is he read, but Tatsumi is goading him on - but we’re not talking about what other people will do - we are talking about what YOU did - what you will be responsible for. Up to a certain point, I think he stood a good chance of being sent back. But instead of restraining himself and forgiving a guy who’d become a shell of his former self, he took vengeance into his own hands and the kicker is - he’s already dead. No matter how much you were trying to make him suffer more it doesn’t change the outcome at all. There’s a line of reasoning I am fairly familiar with that the worst thing you can do to an enemy is actually forgive them, but he took matters into his own hands just for a moment of his own self satisfaction. The real kicker here of course, is that the person most by all these events will never know they happened, because I’m pretty sure there was no redeeming qualities left for either of them. I feel like neither of them are or should be absolved based on their behavior. It’s not about your intentions in the end - what matters is what you actually DO. You do realize you keep saying you’re DYING to see the next episode right? 👀 Everybody put your hands up. Happy Friday! 😎

2024-11-16 02:56:47 +0000 UTCThis episode took the intensity from last episode and multiplied it by a thousand. I am still lost for words right now...Even the air hockey game was intense. Tatsumi is a freaking psychopath and I love it. His actions and just mindset in general is just as dark and twisted as they come. I don't have a problem with him wanting to hunt down and end scumbag criminals but his methods are just way too fucked up lol. Shimada.....Man I feel so bad for this boy. We get confirmation that he was an honest man and made an honest living solely for the happiness of his dear little sister only to have to go through this pain. The way Tatsumi and Shimada killed their targets was brutal no matter which way you put it except I think that Tatsumi freaking tortured his before killing his target even. Those two scenes just threw sanity out the window... But what I really loved about this episode was how they showed and placed emphasis on how dark a person can get. Tatsumi freaking watching Shimada's sister get assaulted was just beyond messed up and his entire reasoning behind it was just dark as fuck. I don't blame Shimada for torturing him, that guy deserved it....He died and the only thing he cared about was that he got stabbed with the same knife that killed the other guy lol. I love psychopaths xD I also loved how our girl put Decim in his place....He was speechless because she was right. But damn, I felt so bad for her because she was powerless and couldn't take how serious and dark these guys were. Overall this episode was easily 100/10. The ending scene was just pure madness....Seeing Tatsumi antagonize Shimada to hurt him....All the blood gushing out everywhere and just the looks on both of their faces sent more than chills down my spine. This anime has managed to consistently prove yet again as to why it's without a doubt one of the best.
