The Legend of Vox Machina 3x08 "Siege & Silence" - reaction & review

Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 3 ep 8 of Vox Machina!!! NOOOOO :((((((( Guys, someone explain to me why they're playing this like he's ACTUALLY DEAD?!??!!? Like I expected this to be them rolling like crazy to bring him back to life?! Is he really just gone?!!? Vex's feelings were just unbearable to watch, and at the very least, this has brought Vax and Key'leth together!! The scenes with Vex and her dad were great and we also got a reveal about what actually happened to their mom. Ngl, this feels like a finale fight, does it not?!!? Can't wait to see more! Enjoy! ~ MH

Lol I know, no one can tell me anything :( True, Percy dying is the ultimate insult to injury for Whitestone. Oh ok, thanks for clearing that up about Vax. I knew there was probably a reason but still. Ugh, I really just can't believe they took him out! Poor Vex!!! The scenes with Vex and the dad were great. LOL now I don't know what to think, I'll def be dwelling! Yeah I feel like you didn't hint or spoil anything, thanks! I can't wait to see what's next!

HAHAHAHAH no way, that's an amazing inside joke! I was in total shock during the funeral! The reveal about the mom was crazy. Awww yes Grog def has a decent wisdom stat! I know, this put the dad in a different light right. I can't wait to see what's coming next! Oh nice, so this isn't the last one, hmm!! Thanks!

“You can tell me this much, is this the last season?” Stop trying to fish for answers when you know we can’t give them to you. :) As much as the devastation of Whitestone hit its people hard, Percy’s death is the ultimate gut punch to the city on top of everything else. Let me put it in layman’s terms, Percy was definitely shot to death. The whole “why can’t Vax do his thing” doesn’t work on Percy for a couple of reasons: one, Vax made an “agreement” with the Matron to exchange his service in order to spare her life. That’s a one-time deal, life saving bargains aren’t like getting the $5 meal deal at McDonald’s (huh, now I kinda want one of those ). Second, when Vex fell victim to the death trap in S2, e everyone was on site and could act immediately to try and counteract it - kind of like when an EMT is trying to resuscitate someone in the first few minutes after they stop breathing. Percy was alone and by himself when he was killed, and none of the others were close enough to do the immediate countermove. Pike tried to use her magic and it did t take. Then there’s the obvious funeral if you want any more proof of what his status is. His soul is no longer with us, I’m afraid. Obviously Vex is filled with regret over not returning his gestures earlier, they’re just words left unsaid. Vax takes this lesson to heart and finally makes a move for Keyleth because he doesn’t want to repeat his sister’s mistake. Scanlan feels awful because he wasn’t there - he’s been trying to be both a good team member and a father and they keep getting in the way of each other. Turns out there’s not a whole lot of time to grieve because Thordak’s spawn are growing in number, so Grog is the one who cones up with the idea to recruit everyone they’ve made Allie’s with. Sometimes he does get a good idea in his head without pictures. Vex and Vax have a personal stake because Thordak is responsible for the destruction of their home, and the death of their mother - a fact which Vex uses to appeal to her dad that his emotional withdrawal from them has cost him not just their relationship as a family but her own romance as well, and that seemed to be enough to convince him. Guys can get pretty deep emotional scars too and don’t always deal with it well. The problem is, the plan seemed to work but Thordak was ready for them - and the back entrance Raishan said would be open has been sealed as little as an hour before they got there. Meanwhile Vex’s dad and his army is currently a sitting duck. You’re going to be chewing on this state of affairs all week aren’t you? 😅 I tried really hard to clear up everything I could today. Tiptoeing around stuff you already know is a land mine sometimes. But I like to think I do a good job of telling you just what needs to be cleared up when I’m ahead of you. Things can’t possibly get much worse… right? 👀

Season 3 is so good! Episode 9 and 11 are one of my favourites you’ll see! 😄

Yass

Right away we have a great inside joke, as I’m *positive* that the dead guy in Percy’s cell is supposed to be his player Taliesin Jaffe, whom the fans have joked for years is thousands of years old, maybe a cult leader at some point. 🤣 I was not ready for the funeral at all, that hit really hard. Going off the scene last episode, it kinda seems like there wasn’t anything to bring back, Percy’s soul was already gone. Raishan revealing Thordak killed the twins’ mom was a great scene, I’d honestly forgotten that detail. I love Grog’s moment, really shows perfectly that yes, he has an Intelligence of 6, but he has a pretty average Wisdom stat. And the scene with Vex and her dad was amazing. Yeah, he’s a giant asshole, but we see that he’s been grieving too. He just went about it completely the wrong way in taking his feelings out on the twins. I’m so excited for next episode, this is what I’ve been waiting for since they finished season one. The Briarwood arc was great and got my attention, but this is what really got me invested in D&D. Yeah it’s generic “kill a dragon and save the world”, but it’s so incredibly well done and amazing to watch. They did confirm season 4 was greenlit like the day after the finale aired and I’m excited to see what they do with it.
