Haikyu!! 1x13 "Worthy Adversaries" - reaction & review

Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 1 episode 13 of Haikyu!! Oh wow, this was quite the dramatic ep!! I was so proud of Hinata and Karasuno, and I think it was entirely realistic that even though they put up a great effort, they still weren't quite as coordinated as Nekoma at this stage! The show of respect between teams was great though, and you can tell that everyone on the Nekoma side is just so pumped at the idea of having a good rival again! This feels like the end of the beginning, I'm excited for what lies ahead for our team! Great stuff! Enjoy! ~ MH

Interesting about the tech aspect here! Thanks for explaining! Yeah there was a lot in that scene with Kenma and Hinata! Hahaha that's true about my poor Tanaka!!!

Enthusiasm breeds enthusiasm. I love the camaraderie and drive of these players. Hinata takes those hits to the face so much. I feel him. 😮‍💨

There aren’t any VA references for the characters but in the interest of name learning, Inuoka is the player marking Hinata, while Yamamoto is Tanaka’s other half. There’s a lot of complications that delve from a game with such a simple concept as volleyball, but it all comes down to which team is better at keeping the ball from hitting the floor on their side. I think now would be a good time to explain a couple of referee signals so you know what they mean later: When you put both arms in front of you vertically, elbows out: the ball was hit out of bounds over the net - point to the team whose side it hit on. When you put one or both arms downward at an angle - the opposite - the ball hit inside the zone, and the team on the other side of the net scored. Lastly, when the referee swipes his fingertips together - the ball was touched going out of bounds (blocked, etc.) - and the point was awarded to the team opposite the side it hit on. Nekoma as mentioned before, is on a different level at this point than Karasuno - so much so that we find out they won six straight sets, and three matches. Yet the sets are competitive enough that the Nekoma coach acknowledges Karasuno and is happy to have a rival who can push his guys again. A rivalry in sports is only good if both teams are on equal terms and while that’s not necessarily the case yet, he sees the potential. I noticed Kenma when he was talking to Hinata at the end - he smiled a little, as if to say, you’ve got a good attitude, I hope it can motivate me to be more into this. As for Tanaka and Yamamoto simping on Kiyoko just remember Tanaka’s the only one who’s been actually ignored by her. Learn from the master. XD
