Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 1 episode 9 of Haikyu!! Oh wow, we finally got our coach onboard!!! I'm also really hoping we get to know more of the neighborhood association, there's prequel material right there lol!!! And we even got Asahi on board?! Will this be his redeeming moment?! There's only one way to find out....!! Really excited to see where this is going! Great stuff! Enjoy! ~ MH

If you figure it out, let me know because I haven't found a way either. Ukai def seems like this is personal. This is kinda like PTSD huh. Yeah this was more than being burnt out - it was like a trauma. I'm sure he'll work through it but it's a lot to work through for sure!

It seems that Takeda’s underhanded methods are working because as soon as Ukai heard about Nekoma he was like, forget nostalgia, this is personal. Im not sure what kind of rivalry he had with the setter but it seems from the flashback there was at least a modicum of respect there. So anyway, after all that, we’re focusing on Asahi. I guess you could say his issue is basically sports PTSD. He’s not afraid because he doesn’t like the sport - he just hates to let anyone else down. Put another way, would you stop watching anime if you decided to take a break from reacting for a while? It’s more about the feeling when you’re not living up to your part of the team and it can grow pretty big in your thought process. It’s also why Daichi’s so hard on him - he’s emphasized repeatedly that no one cares that he’s not batting 100 percent, no one does. He’s starting to realize it when playing this practice match, but the real question is can he learn to trust himself as well as his teammates? That’s the crux of what ails him. Hopefully, getting a few swings in that work will raise his confidence level.
