Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 1 episode 6 of Haikyu!! Oh wow guys!!! I was so proud of our crew in this! Poor Hinata is a bundle of nerves, and I love the realistic portrayal of how they were totally messing him up. But I also love the message of trusting your teammates to make up for any nervousness/amateur-ness! And Kageyama got to really prove how much he's grown - interesting point that it's possible (and likely) that this kind of growth could've only happened with this team behind him. Oh yeah, and let's not forget Mr. superstar setter at the end!! That can't be good! Can't wait for more! Great stuff! Enjoy! ~ MH

I can totally see how Hinata is putting a lot of this pressure on himself...I think what it comes down to is how real it feels to him, regardless of what the truth is, you know? But yeah, nerves can definitely make someone their own worst enemy! LOL Daichi!! I can see the Rengoku vibes for sure! Ooohhh yeah I can totally hear the Shigaraki in Tsukii's voice too!! OOF!! That's a double whammy about hitting Kageyama in the head :/ Oh that is too bad, I'd love to see some volleyball in real life! Thanks for the info on the rotation. Oh yeah being a decoy is actually super important, I agree!! I'm curious about the new setter! And thanks to you both about the previews!!! Good to know!

2024-10-16 05:31:43 +0000 UTCOmg I couldn't agree more, the characters are everything here! I LOVE the characters so far, especially things like Tanaka's pep talk to Hinata :) And the way they portray things realistically. Suga's understanding was just so incredible here! And so true, Kageyama stands to learn a lot from him. I noticed that about Kageyama, it seems like he's really trying, even if it doesn't always come out just right! LOL Daichi the ultimate babysitter :) Oh good call about the two sets of dialogue! I'm having a blast so far! Thanks for being patient about me keeping up with the banter and all, it is totally fun and I always get curious about what they're saying haha but I do need to pay attention to the main stuff as well!!!

2024-10-16 05:22:57 +0000 UTCKageyama applied for the school who is currently #1 in their prefecture. They are playing a top four team in their prefecture, but not the school he applied for.

2024-10-15 16:38:09 +0000 UTCHi Melissa, I'm glad to see that you enjoyed the new episodes. I could relate to Hinata so much as I was always nervous before tournaments too. I could never concentrate on the game at first and made unnecessary mistakes. The anime really showed this very realistically, that not everything goes smoothly at the beginning and you really have to work together as a team to get to victory. Kageyama has now learned this and even his old teammates have noticed it. At the end of the episode, a very interesting character appeared with whom I have a “love-hate” relationship. i'm curious to see how you'll feel about him. i'm looking forward to the next Reaction.

2024-10-15 10:52:03 +0000 UTCThe reason I love this series and why people took a liking to it so much is because of how it does things. You see a great example here with the characters. This is a sports anime that did things a bit differently than others when it comes to storytelling. Plus the characters are just fantastic. You see how the guys on our team really are great dudes. I love Tanaka telling Hinata not to worry as much because like Daichi pointed it’s coming from somewhere genuine. Suga being understanding of Kageyama’s skills and rather than be upset about stepping down for the match shows how mature he is by wanting to see him show his growth to his former teammates. I also like the trade off of Suga who has this immense respect of his teammates while Kageyama who needs to learn how to people, currently needs to earn their respect. Also Kageyama, who’s a socially awkward butterfly, doing his best to comfort Hinata during this game. In the locker room when Suga is yelling at him, you can see he doesn’t think of nerves as most others would— but he’s slowly taken into account how others work and might need help adjusting. Daichi, a great captain, having to deal with these numbskulls all the time— great patience. I’m so happy you’re enjoying it. When it comes to the dialogue I just pause when there’s two sets captions — there’s usually the person currently speaking on screen and the characters in the background. As a non reactor I have the privilege of pausing and reading both. It’s just fun dialogue. But really just focus on the current person speaking (which I think they’ll have those captions at the bottom usually) but if you can keep up I guess try to read both from time to time if you can. It’s no big deal if you don’t get it all. The background noise is just fun tiny banter.

2024-10-15 10:04:13 +0000 UTCVoice Actor Appearance: Kindaichi (Turnip-kun): Taiju from Dr. Stone, Saitama from One Punch Man, Benimaru from Slime I think the whole pressure cooker issue facing Hinata is really his own head. Let’s use a comparison: if a guy asks a girl he really likes out on a date, and she says yes, he immediately goes from trying to get her to attention to I cannot screw this up. Hinata is going through a similar phase but with his sport. Sometimes you’re just your own worst enemy. That can be said for a lot of people on this show. By the way I have to kinda laugh at Daichi having to wrangle all these different kids. (I pictured Rengoku instead, I’m sorry!) Also every time Tsukishima (Tsukii) talks now, I can’t I hear Shigaraki because he’s always saying something demeaning. When Hinata hit the ball into the back of Kageyama’s head, it meant the other team scored set point. Much the same as what happened to Kageyama except people did it to him on purpose. We are actually on the middle of volleyball season right now, it’s too bad you couldn’t have had time to look during the Olympics - but it might be a good idea in your spare time to watch an actual match on TV or go see a local school’s game, even if you don’t understand everything it might help your brain wrap around the sport better. The players rotate one position clockwise every time they score a point that was served (started) by the other team, so every player has to serve before the first one can serve again. It’s similar to a baseball lineup. Hinata is really disappointed at being used as a decoy but he doesn’t realize how helpful he’s being. It’s basically a fake out - will he or won’t he. Just as Kageyama has to learn how to get along with everyone off the court, Hinata has to learn how to mesh with everyone else. And apparently there’s a new setter here. Both teams have won one set, so now they have to play a third, winner take all set to win the match. That’s probably enough for now. Remember, these previews aren’t really anything spoilery and actually add to the fun. :)
