Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to episode 23 of The Apothecary Diaries! WHOA!!!! This is one backstory I didn't see going quite the way it did....admittedly I was kinda thinking they'd giving us a tragic backstory that at least made Lakan more sympathetic, but DANG, like he for real did not do anything really wrong here!!! I was glad to see that it wasn't what I was thinking from before (the whole non-consensual thing), in fact it looks like Maomao's mom was the one who instigated/planned the whole thing...?! And Lakan had no control over his leaving?! What a tragic story!!! What now?!?!! Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

Hahaha true :P Maomao totally got his cleverness!! OMG, I can see Princess Bride vibes for sure! HAHAHA "hold my sake" is exactly what the show said :P Ooooohhh ok, I didn't even realize they knew he'd be gone at all. I kinda thought he just vanished. But yeah, he was still gone way longer than he should've been. I got it that he didn't even realize there was a baby in the picture until he got back. It's sad but true that Maomao was probably influenced by the way her mother treated her. I couldn't have guessed how this would all go! That's a good attitude to have about content, I just kinda dig in my heels and don't wanna let go of a good series!!!

We know you too well. :D Maomao definitely has received some of Lakan’s cleverness, as I believe she never actually told him that what she was mixing in the cup with the poison was alcoholic, so she only had to win one time and get him to drink knowing he couldn’t hold his liquor to come out the overall winner. By the way, did you get any sort of Princess Bride flashbacks from the game and the poisoned cups? :) “I’m not sure what they can tell me about Lakan to get me to change my mind about him… Show: “Hold my sake.” So I believe you understand most of how this is all connected and even made some pretty good inferences about why Fengxian got pregnant. What does seem to have escaped your notice, is this, and it’s the key to the whole cog: he thought he would only be gone for six months. And he probably told her and the others as much. But he was held up for three years, and clearly had no way to communicate that back to her, as there were a ton of unopened letters on his desk. He probably didn’t even realize that Maomao existed until he put everything together after returning, which is why he curses himself for being short sighted. The concept of their night together having that kind of result had never occurred to him, whether it was accidental or on purpose. But, too late. The public damage was already done. As for Maomao, it’s possible her childhood time could have been affected by the mom blaming her for her situation - we know she wasn’t in a good place, and she might’ve held a grudge against her daughter. The picture Maomao has is unclear regarding her father: he has acknowledged her as his daughter, so she’s aware of that much. But now comes the real question: what is she intending to make him do as a result of winning? Guess we’ll keep going. :) No, I do not get sad when I finish a season, it’s more like, I’ve completed a task! I’ve accomplished a goal. Plus it’s anime - there’s never a shortage. There’s plenty of content to hold us over in the meantime. :)
