Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to MHA season 7, episode 14!!! Oh wow guys, this one was really rough but really well done! It was awesome getting to know Shoji a bit better and seeing him in action, and seeing that despite all the hatred he's endured, he's decided for a better future no matter how long it takes. I personally really like Spinner so far so it was hard to see him literally get turned into someone unrecognizable. And the craziest thing here is that AFO is exploiting the hardships and very real problems of an entire group of people for his own gain!!! It's sick!!! What now?! Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

OMG yes, I couldn't agree more about Koda! His level up, backstory, etc. were so great to see. It's true, anger can be a good thing! Yes and who knows better than my birthday buddy right! Mina's moment was awesome, and that's a good point about her look. Hahaha wow that would've been a dark turn alright lol! That's so true, discrimination can happen to someone who isn't a heteromorph too. Thank you so much for all the support!!!

2024-09-04 11:33:15 +0000 UTCThat's cool that you got started with it though! I totally understand that feeling, I have lots of shows I've watched on my own that I wish I could've filmed my reaction to haha! Omg I totally get it, I have the same problem with wanting to talk about it yet not wanting to spoil anything!! The struggle is real lol!!! Don't worry, I totally get where you're coming from!!!

2024-09-03 13:01:54 +0000 UTCSome more things is that I really loved the spotlight on Koda with his quirk leveling up so he can telepathically talk to animals instead having to physically talk to them which not only increases his range but his options because having to give orders to animals that people can hear probably gives an edge to anyone you would be fighting. And I love how this evolution took place because of Koda’s love & respect for his friends. I think it’s a great thing for parents to teach their children to stand up for their friends especially against bullying like his mother did because I think we can all agree that bullies are the worst even in this complicated world it’s a good lesson. Someone I watch made the point that it’s interesting that part of this episode was Koda’s remembering his mom telling him to use his anger in the right way basically the concept of righteous anger right after last episode where Izuku remembered the 5th OFA user I think talking about anger being a source of strength but having to control that anger. Also I love how this episode once again shows how great & strong class A’s friendship is with Shoji having enough trust in them to share his story & seeing all his friends want to make a lot of good memories with him as was well as getting to see the respect/admiration they have for him after hearing his motivations like your birthday buddy Tokoyami said he is really strong not just physically but mentally/emotionally. I like Mina’s little moment of wanting to fight against people who mistreat/discriminate against heteromorphs since she is 1 although since she is aesthetically pleasing/more likely to be popular as a hero with her looks & quirk the racists would be private about their hatred which is also something that needs to be fought against. Also Hitchcock Birds is a terrifying move & I know this didn’t happen but in my imagination I think of those birds killing that guy while proclaiming Koda as a God I have a dark sense of humor sorry. Finally I like how someone brought up that even non-heteromorph can face similar problems like Toga because they are outside the norm which is an interesting discussion of how people are afraid of anything different although there are obviously levels of severity. Once again awesome reaction & thoughts. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

2024-09-03 05:20:54 +0000 UTCwell, I filmed myself while reading and talked to my phone like people would ever see it, but I never ended up editing or uploading them really 😅😅 I think the first few really crazy ones were on TikTok, but than I had a bad phase and never really started up again, but I also couldn't stop filming myself, because what if EXACTLY this chapter something really crazy happens and I freak out and THAT time I didn't film it, I would be so annoyed, so I just kept going and never did anything with it 😅😅🤣 Except sometimes (when I really just screamed veeeery loudly and high-pitched into my pillow and none of the words coming out of my mouth made sense, because I didn't want to spoil her [a few times when it wasn't TOO important I just HAD to talk to her about some stuff (usually as vague as possible) because I was freaking out too much and had no one to talk to 😅🤣]) I edited those tiny parts and sent it to my best friend, but that was rare xD Damn my ADHD and all the weird bracket sentences, sry 😅😅🤣🤣

2024-09-01 17:56:50 +0000 UTCThanks for clearing that up about what the girl meant, I wasn't sure! It's so sick to think they attacked him for saving the girl :((( I honestly did think that maybe the flashback was about Spinner at first, that's so true. It's crazy to see how different their paths became, considering they both faced so many of the same issues. Isn't it sad to see Spinner this way?! AFO is exploiting all of this, it's so disgusting. I wish Shoji and Spinner could've had an actual conversation here :( They did a good job with this for sure. Yeah I can see how it hasn't been a huge focus but it's definitely been mentioned and has been there in the past, so this wasn't a huge surprise for me either. Thank you so much for all your kind words and support!!!!!!!!!

2024-08-31 21:20:15 +0000 UTCThat's interesting that they didn't change much except to make it a bit clearer, that's great! Oooohh you make reaction videos too? That's awesome! Whoa, can't wait for the something crazy that's about to happen! Good to know where we're at in the manga too! Oh that's interesting that they keep being unpredictable about the chapters they're adapting! I'm actually glad they elaborated on this as much as they did!

2024-08-31 21:17:29 +0000 UTCI can totally see how there's parallels with Toga and issues of neurodivergency as well! I can't wait to see what happens with Shoji, omg!!

2024-08-31 21:15:46 +0000 UTCI can really see the real life parallels (obviously) between the Heteromorph Storyline and racism, but what feels a little more hidden (or maybe I'm just interpreting it that way due to my own experiences) are the Toga/"born with a difficult/weird Quirk" and neurodivergent parallels.. I used to really not be able to stand Toga and couldn't get all the people "apologizing" her actions, but her backstory and wish to just live as herself, really hits home Edit: after listening to the "after reaction talk", I can't wait for you to see how everything with Shoji turns out! :D

2024-08-31 13:04:22 +0000 UTCMan, I waited forever to watch this reaction, because I wanted to compare it one-on-one with the manga, but despite what I thought, they didn't really add a lot (if any) new stuff, mostly just clarifying flashbacks (I think) Buuuuut after just watching the following episode, I can report that I'm very happy to see that the Anime cleared some stuff up, that confused me while reading the Manga, so that's great! ^^ I can't believe that we'll soon reach the part where I started filming my own reactions while reading the Manga (never did anything with those tho xD), I started with Chapter 384 I think, because smth crazy happened before and I wished I had my reaction to it on video xD This episode animated Chapters 370, 371 and about half of 372 (and the next one ends with Chapter 374, which is also the End of Volume 37) I've tried to predict the amount of chapters per episode and episode titles and when they will end and all that for the entire season now and this storyline is the first time I'm getting it wrong like a LOT xD That's why it feels like they elaborate on the Heteromorph storyline in the Anime

2024-08-31 12:59:09 +0000 UTCI am so happy with what we got with Shoji in this episode because as I have thought/talked about he has always had a cool design & some good moments but has never had a lot of big focus so this episode was everything I wanted and more. Also you were not sure what was happening in that moment the girl who Shoji saved as a kid was saying her needing to be saved was why his face got scary it’s because him saving her was why the villagers attacked him because he touched someone who looked human which is sad because she wasn’t influenced by the racism of the adults & cares about him but she inadvertently was the reason he got hurt & shows how insane racism can make people. And to make it more tragic/hit more the way his story was told it makes you think he was attacked 1st. I love the writing that makes you think the flashback (which had incredible watercolor style animation) at the start & throughout the episode was about Spinner because of the parallels you can see between him & Shoji and it just makes his story more powerful because even though they went through very similar things they went down very different paths with Shoji choosing a productive way to bring about change while Spinner can’t really choose what he wants to do at all anymore. And it’s not like Shoji is saying they can’t get angry or doesn’t understand he knows that many of these people are just ordinary angry citizens being used by others or that there is never a time when fighting is necessary for change but that attacking a hospital is the wrong way to do it especially if they don’t have the desire to make sure people are safe before they save Kurogiri even if they think that’s what is necessary for change. Yeah like you I am so sad to see Spinner turn into something so monstrous he & I can barely recognize him anymore because of AFO manipulating his & many of the people here’s anger, sadness, pain & a history of discrimination which makes you hate him more yeah but for me it emphasizes how sick he is. It’s especially sad because if Spinner wasn’t like this he might have been able to have a dialogue with Shoji while they fought which could have been interesting & nuanced. I’m so impressed that Horikoshi was able to cover such a nuanced subject in a well-written way that wasn’t insensitive but doesn’t shy away from the complex real subject of racism in a realistic way in what like 3 chapters & the presentation in the anime was amazing. I don’t agree with people that this came out of nowhere because sure could it have been built up/shown more throughout the show yeah but heteromorph discrimination has always been present in the story in little moments. This episode was just as emotional for me as it was for you which is a sign of great writing. Awesome reaction & thoughts. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

2024-08-30 14:42:37 +0000 UTCYeah I guess lots of people are saying this kinda came out of nowhere! I can totally see the Blake vibes! It's so sad to see Spinner this way! That's the thing, this is truly a no win for everyone. It is a really good portrayal of mob mentality, and people's anger being used against them. The real world comparisons are pretty spot on. Haha maybe the writer is a big RWBY fan! Right?! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Hitchcock Birds lol. Yeah it's great that we can have a whole story without any of the more main characters!!! NOOOO too soon with the gold jokes hahahah!

2024-08-29 15:33:27 +0000 UTCOhhh I'm so sorry you got spoiled! I'm so glad we got to see more of Shoji here! He's so likeable!! You're right, we've seen lots of examples of him being great in the past too. I'm really glad he got his moment! I love that we got more Koji too, wasn't the backstory so sweet?? I love seeing more Mic too! Hahah he and Aizawa are such an uncanny but cute pair of friends!!!

2024-08-29 15:31:02 +0000 UTCHey Leonie! Yeah we had touched on it before, but not like this. Apparently it's still a huge problem in more rural areas in MHA world. I'm hearing people mention that, that it was out of the blue! I'm glad you enjoyed it though, and it makes total sense that evolution would go in this direction in terms of the heteromorphs. Omg, it is particularly sad and ironic to think they said that to Rock Lock! :( It was great to see more about Shoji and Anima, right? It's sad to see Spinner this way! I really hope there's a way to reverse what's going on with him but I'm not sure!

2024-08-29 15:29:21 +0000 UTCHi Spadeas! :) I thought that might be what they meant with the LooL thing lol, it does show their friendship! So hard to imagine Shigaraki just chilling playing games lol but there it is. So sad that they're both unrecognizable because of AFO!!! Ohhh thanks for clearing that up about the flashback! It does show how absolutely idiotic the concept of racism is. And sadly it's something we deal with so much today. I hear you, there's so much to say on this topic!! It's sad to see people's anger being used against them!!!! The whole thing is just sad and frustrating!!

2024-08-29 15:27:19 +0000 UTCI haven’t caught up because I’m watching the dub. But I got spoiled with the manga material yesterday and couldn’t wait. I skipped to the part where Shoji shares his story. I remember reading Hori really wanted Shoji to have his moment. Like others I’ve been waiting because he’s so great. He’s one of the more who keeps to himself. His characters been showing through his actions. He’s never nitpicking or selfish which makes him get along with others nicely. He can get along with people from Mineta to Koji since the beginning. He held know form of malice towards Tokoyami when Dark Shadow got too big and accidentally hurt him, he even went out of his way to comfort him. Warming Asui during the licensing exam. Caring Deku when his arms are hurt. Season one at the SSJ before the students really got to know each other and Kurogiri (shadow teleporter quirk guy) started teleporting the student to different locations, Shoji can be seen gathering as many students as he can close to him. Just these small details is what fans started to notice and really wanted to more. And Hori eventually wanted for him to have his moment. I’m not fully caught up so just skimmed to what I saw and it didn’t disappoint. He was phenomenal here. I’m always whining about everything when I should account the fewer good things instead. He’s deserving of that moment. 🐙 Koji was amazing. I’m glad to see him level up. This topic was interesting and it’s great to see his dad stand up for his mom. It’s things like that that really make you think of what good can come if you stick up against hate. Mic, I just love seeing more of him. Idk I think he’s so cool. I like how Aizawa can trust him even when he’s usually blowing off his ears. 👂 🎤

2024-08-28 15:53:58 +0000 UTCHmm, I feel like this heteromorph discrimination plot line sort of came out of left field. There have been a couple mentions of it previously, but for the most part it didn’t seem like the show was focusing on it too hard. Which makes me wonder if there were scenes in the manga that weren’t adapted regarding this topic. Okay, I’m seriously getting Blake from RWBY storyline vibes based on the contents of this episode. It’s not really hard to see where that would get picked up from. Surprisingly, Spinner is not himself - he’s gotten a lot stronger but at the cost of his own mental sanity, it seems. This is what happens when you deal with a devil - but I’m not sure Spinner actually accepted what AFO offered or if he was forced to take it, now that I’m thinking about it. Clearly, AFO does not put a premium on independent thought. I was thinking that the heroes and the police squad put in this position are literally in a no win scenario. They have to keep the mob back for everyone’s safety that’s involved - and it was most likely others who behaved in a fashion to instigate this kind of sentiment. It’s like “I agree with your point but I can’t let you use that as an excuse to justify harmful actions!” This episode actually does a pretty decent job of portraying mob mentality - when Shoji actually starts to get through to the crowd, the one loudmouth just fans the flames more, and it’s like “he’s riling up again, let’s keep doing this.” You were asking about the Shoji flashback - I interpreted it a little different - I took it as he saved the drowning kid and revealed his true self and that’s why everyone was beating him up - because he touched her. I don’t need to spend a whole lot of time with real world comparisons here, they’re pretty in your face. But I do think what Shoji said was important: “if we could forgive and forget, this wouldn’t be a problem anymore.” Human emotions, they can be troublesome from time to time. Be part of the solution, not the problem, it’s the only way anything ever will change. Violence only begets more violence. Another subtle nod to Blake’s arc - wonder if the writer ever watched that show? Who knows :) Oh and Mineta can’t keep his mouth shut it’s not part of his charm. Gotta say though - Hitchcock Birds? That’s too OP. The difference between Shoji and Spinner? One’s been turned into a mindless puppet, and the other refuses to be a societal puppet. Bit Spinner broke into the hospital so now we gotta chase that problem down again.. 14 out of 21, so seven episodes left. And we didn’t need any of the principal characters this week either - I do appreciate a show that gives all its characters their due flowers. PS: Based on what we’ve found out about Edge Shot’s VA, is Bakugo getting a heart of… gold? 👀

2024-08-28 02:49:21 +0000 UTCHey Melissa, I was shocked to see that heteromorphs face such discrimination in the world of My Hero. Although we had been teased a bit last season, I had always been under the assumption that people with heteromorphic looks were more or less integrated into society. It was implemented in the episode that this has already happened in the cities, but in rural areas it is still rather difficult to integrate these people into society. I've also read that many manga readers found this plot point very out of the blue. It wasn't really well hinted at beforehand and that's why many manga readers don't like this chapter so much, which I'm also noticing very strongly now among anime watchers. Personally I still enjoyed this episode quite a bit. Really it makes sense that this kind of thing would happen in a world where people suddenly started having quirks, some that transformed people beyond recognition, and for me that would be pretty messed up to witness, I would definitely have trouble getting used to that being something that can just happen. And I’d say they they did a decent enough job showcasing the discrimination, the fact it mainly happens outside of cities kinda helps explain why we haven’t seen it until now, tho I will say it is very unfortunate Rock Lock was the one to be told he wouldn’t understand discrimination like someone else here mentioned lol. But besides that stuff, I mainly liked this episode because it finally gave characters like Shoji and Anima, who were mainly background characters despite being in Class A, a moment in the spotlight, and they were quite the awesome moments, Shoji was really badass taking on that scale-armored Spinner and it was cool seeing Anima become stronger, each of their backstories were nice to finally see too, a shame it took 7 seasons to happen tho lol. And Spinner is quite far gone, the man is leading a “revolution” but can barely think straight, and to top it off he became even more monster-like when he use the scales quirk, but I really love the design and it’s definitely made the fight on this front more interesting.

2024-08-27 20:40:34 +0000 UTCHi Hime :) Spinner got along well with Shigaraki, when they talk about "Lool" it's a reference to League of Legend (LoL), the game that serves as a basis for Arcane. So yes, this little flashback serves to show that Spinner and Shigaraki, were more than comrades, they were friends. Which makes it even more painful that both Shigaraki and Spinner no longer look or act like themselves, because of AfO. For Shoji, his flashback isn't necessarily very clear if you don't pay attention, but the little girl says that if she hadn't been in danger, he wouldn't have those scars. So yeah, timeline wise, Shoji saves the little girl, and because he "touched" a human, the others in the village beat him up. He literally got beaten up because he saved someone... This shows how racism makes people stupid, because they would have almost preferred that she drown rather than Shoji touch her. When I see this kind of thinking on the networks, which are unfortunately still relevant, I wonder how you can think you are right ? I know that there is necessarily the environment in which you grow up and possible trauma too, but precisely, if you have been a victim of trauma, do not become an aggressor in turn, you know what that feels like... Anyway, I am not going to venture into this territory, otherwise I will have a loooooong paragraph ^^'.
