Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to the sixth OVA in this long-awaited series!!! Oh wow guys!!! What a finale! Honestly I think they pretty much captured everything and did a really good job adapting it! Jotaro learning The World, the heart stop scene, a slightly different version of the road roller lol - it was pretty well done! I'm bummed they cut out the prank scene but you can't have it all lol. That end scene with the three of them got to me SO much!!! Next, we go back and start with the SDC Part 1 OVAs!!! Good stuff - enjoy! ~ MH

Bravo! Fantastic. This fight still holds up amazingly here as well. Of course some things were left out but it is what it is. I know any Jojo fan out there before the spruced up version came to be were thankful to have this. They did an amazing job with the fight. Of course I do love some of the touches and details they added or changed here and there. And I absolutely love the additives of the main version, like the photo or some departures like Naracia’s departure. ✈️ DIO’s VA did an amazing job. He was a different kind of maniacal. I think he may have been more dastardly in some areas more than our first DIO was in this part. The goodbyes to the fallen three was great. It hurts in all over again. But I was happy hurting the first time that the others, especially Joesph made it out. But it hurt the first time. I didn’t want to say goodbye, especially when Jojo Sr. mentioning how fun it was. It hurts differently and kind of harder knowing what’s to come later lol. But DIO 2.0 and 90s version are done. Let’s be thankful. lol the prank not being there felt like a miss definitely however that was no place for that tomfoolery to begin with. Can’t wait for next time!

Hi Spadeas! :) Hahaha thanks for watching so I didn't have to!!! :P Oh ok, I had a feeling that scene was a bit more graphic here, but yeah, the rest of it felt pretty much the same. I love that we got to see Hermit Purple more!!! Thanks for highlighting all the differences too!!! I agree that this feels very grand but we don't get to see quite as much of Jotaro's inner monologue and strategy. I'm glad you agree about the sound design!! And the increased violence does make Dio feel even more dangerous. I agree, I'll always prefer the anime, but really appreciate these as well! And I know, it's so hard to picture anyone but modern Dio as the voice now, right! Oh and about the humor, that's true, this did feel a bit more serious, except for maybe the cute Polnareff scenes that they added!!! I do miss the lighter hearted tones but also appreciated seeing a really even more brutal take on the story!

Ohhh yes you're right! I think it kinda depended on the VHS but that sounds right. Omg yes, I love the full 90s ham that this actor chose! Ah ok, thanks for refreshing my memory on how I did previous parts! There's only so much I can remember after a matter of years lol. I'm actually mostly just doing 5 chapters a week unless there's a suggestion to do otherwise! I did also kinda miss the scene where he moves just a little! It's a cool moment and it's referenced in Part 6. HAHAHA nooooo poor Polnareff!!!! >.<

You asked earlier about the length of a VHS tape - I believe they could easily go up to 160 minutes, some even 180. Since we’ve already seen this arc, I think what caught my attention the most is the choices the voice actors made - for instance, when DIO goes ham, I’m thinking - yep that’s definitely a evil and villainous laugh you’d hear from the 90s! You were trying to remember how and why you took the approach you did with the anime - went through Season 1 your regular 2 reps at a time (which really threw you because Part 1 ended after Ep 9 and you didn’t hear from us telling you that was an actual death until later), and with Part 3 and 4 I started to alert you that there were a lot of multiple episode arcs you’d probably want to do together, and where the “parts” switched. After that Leonie took over for 5 and 6, and even though I’m not keeping up with the manga videos at this time (speaking of podcasts!) sounds like that alliance hasn’t changed. XD I think for the most part it hit all the beats the finale needed to here, and you can tell they put a lot of work in. Oh, you keep mentioning Skywalker Sound - at this point Lucasfilm had become a pioneer in film technology and enhancing quality, so it’s only naturally studios would ask them to help with “dubbing,” if they could afford it. The DIO Jotaro fight was still cool but I kinda miss the scene where he just moves his eye a little, and the shoe starts to go on the other foot. That and the prank scene were noticeably absent of course. But hey… we finally got to see Polnareff… come out of his shell…? /ducks

Hi Hime :) I can raise my hand, I was there every time to see you looking away for the opening lol. The first OVA is actually pretty faithful, they just showed this time the scene of the senator crushing the passersby, absent from the anime adaptation but present in the manga. The exploding train scene is also exclusive to the OVA, but I could be wrong. There's also a bit more exploitation of Hermit Purple (like when he uses it to weaken a wall that DIO crashes into afterwards). But overall it's faithful. 771 / 5 000 The fight between Jotaro and DIO has much more difference, whether it's Jotaro showing himself to be intelligent with some tricks making DIO wonder if he can enter the suspended world or not, the moment when he loses his leg and asks for it to be brought back to him which are absent, but also that most of the exchanges after DIO understood, like the passage in the water with the boat, DIO throwing cars, Jotaro throwing part of a building, the passage in the tram and DIO killing some passengers. All this is purely OVA, it makes the fight more "extraordinary" but takes away a little of Jotaro's ingenious side. As you say, we also lose the joke, but it's a criticism that I would make of the complete OVA, to have lowered the humor by a serious notch. We have some dose of humor, like in the first OVA, but apart from that, the rest is really serious and I find it a bit of a shame, because Jojo's humor is also part of his charm ^^. But yes, on the other hand, some plans and staging ideas are really interesting, like the sound design during the suspended time and the more superhuman aspect of the stand users in general, the increased violence which makes DIO even more threatening too (even if he loses his lipstick in the process), so not everything is to be thrown away, generally speaking and even if the quality is lower, I prefer the anime, more faithful to the manga, but I have nothing against its OVAs. Also, just about the VAs, I had a hard time imagining another voice for DIO for a long time, thinking the one from the OVAs was perfect, but this dear Takehito Koyasu, who we know so well now for DIO, Toji (JJK) or Kraft (Frieren), did such a good job that DIO is now associated with his voice and vice versa.
