2024-09-19 19:21:42 +0000 UTCOh cool, thanks for the pronunciation tip/clarification! Hmmm, very interesting about the honey stuff. The bullying stuff makes my heart sink! Also, it is a good thing in a way that Lishu isn't, erm, active in her duties....yet I get how status-wise that's not really good for her. Jinshi getting caught by Gyuokuyou was such a great scene! Thanks for recapping, everything about that tells me that Maomao has to be that baby (except for the boy thing, but maybe they lied for the baby's protection). I'm still working on it though! I can't wait for more!!

2024-08-09 14:46:26 +0000 UTCHey Leonie!! I'm so happy you were excited to see it! I'm glad that in some ways I'm close haha. Ohhhh ok thank you for clarifying, I knew they were trying to say the servant killed someone, but I got confused for a second there. Oh wow, I'm definitely gonna have to bring some big brain energy to the next eps!!! The honey scene lol!! Neither one of them understands how the other is perceiving them. Poor Gaoshun lol!! Also Jinshi running away was so funny! I'm so happy you love my theories and I can't wait for the next eps!!!!

2024-08-09 14:42:49 +0000 UTCHi Spadeas! :) That conversation was so intense. It's definitely eye opening for Jinshi, I think. I can't wait for the honey story resolution! Hmmm there's something important about the way that was said huh? Also thanks for confirming that they were more or less raised together! Hmmmmmm interesting, ok, so I can put something together based on a few of the hints but I'm not getting anything for the "man known as Jinshi" thing....I'll keep thinking! I can't wait for more!!!

2024-08-09 14:40:32 +0000 UTCRight?! Like I'm so hooked! I know, it's like we have some pieces of the puzzle but can't see it all yet. Omg I can't Maomao either! The most I can hope for is to get lucky once in a while :P Omg thank you so much for that, because I have a really really hard time wrapping my head around it too and I'm glad I'm not the only one! Sometimes I feel silly that I don't have this eureka moment on camera lol!!!

2024-08-09 14:37:43 +0000 UTCOkay this is where the series is having me enthralled. I knew it was coming. It’s cool how subtly but surely the beginning episodes were building up to whatever this all is. Very intriguing stuff. I just wish I knew what it all meant. XD I can’t even begin to piece things together like you did. Great theories btw. Very creative. I just can’t brain like that. I can’t puzzle these hints no matter how hard I try. I can’t Maomao like that. 🐱 For such a “straightforward” system of passing down one’s concubines for an offspring to inherit (and I’m simplifying here) this family tree is way more complicated than I gave credit to. I can’t wrap my head around all the information in just one sitting. Phew thank goodness I’m not a reactor 😮💨 😅

2024-08-08 14:12:19 +0000 UTCHi Hime :) Maomao talking about how she wants to die and asking Jinshi to do so shows their dynamic once again. Jinshi refuses to think about it because he cares about her, but Maomao knows the limitations imposed by social status and that it is a possibility. Maomao having lived the way she has lived up until now is aware of these boundaries, which Jinshi being of high rank does not bother to look at, but Maomao forces him to look into them. The story with honey, lady Lishu and Fengming will be resolved in the next episodes, but everything will be cleared up I can confirm. Gaoshun disant "l'homme connue comme Jinshi" Now for the big revelations, small spoiler but not important in the story and which will not be addressed in this season. Lady Ah-Duo is the daughter of the current emperor's wet nurse and born at the same time, Ah-Duo and the emperor were fed and raised by the same women in some ways, hence this almost familial affinity between them. For the rest, I would just say that the information to remember is that Ah-Duo had a baby 17 years ago, that Luomen was the doctor of the rear palace, "eunuch" and was fired from his position, that Gaoshun says in an episode "the man known as Jinshi", now everything is not connected to the current story, but you had some ideas going in the right direction. The next two episodes should tell you a lot more about this.

2024-08-08 12:27:56 +0000 UTCHi Melissa, I finally got around to watching your Apothecary Diaries Reaction. I've been looking forward to it all day. There are so many secrets revealed in these two episodes. And your theories are really interesting. What I can say, without giving too much away, is that some are very close to the truth and some are very far from it. Let me briefly summarize the events. A high official was accidentally killed by putting too much salt in his drinks because he could no longer taste salty food. This official was very close to Jinshi, at least from what we know. The maiden who allegedly drowned herself in the castle moat is said to have poisoned Lishu at the garden party. According to all the signs found on her body, however, she did not necessarily drown of her own free will, as wounds were found on her hands, suggesting that she was trying to save herself. Is Fengmin or someone else behind the whole thing? And who is the real victim here? We'll have to find out in the next episode. And believe me, next episode you really have to pay attention, because a lot of things are revealed at the same time and The honey scene between Jinshi and Maomao was really amusing to watch. I think Jinshi sometimes doesn't even realize how much he gets on Maomao's nerves and how she doesn't like him at all. But she's the only one who can really understand him and who can see right through to the back of his mind that he's not always the friendly man, but rather more childish and playful. I also found it very funny that Gaoshun had to endure this whole scene even though he didn't really want to. And he almost had to suffer the consequences for it in the end. I'm very excited for the next episode because I really love your theories on this and I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying the anime a lot.

2024-08-08 11:09:33 +0000 UTCI should preface this by saying the previous pronunciation was the victim of a spellcheck error - the sound for the concubine in question’s name is Ah-DOE. (Somehow that got switched, or I just typed wrong but editing takes the message away.) When Maomao was sent to the Garnet Pavilion, Fengming was already under suspicion from the last episode - and it appears from their connection to honey added into Lishu’s reaction to it, there’s a lot of dots to connect here. Unfortunately, it does seem that Maomao was correct about the bullying - Lishu is being taken advantage of by the people she puts the most trust in - and she doesn’t even realize it. On the bright side, and also not, the current emperor leaves his hands off her which is a good thing in morality but a bad one for status. I guess it’s all about how you choose to view it - maybe it just means this emperor isn’t nearly the sleazeball his predecessor was. But like Maomao said, the women back here are here for one purpose - so that raises its own set of challenges to deal with. Jinshi on the other hand is having his own brand of fun but Maomao isn’t playing - and it looks like Gyokuyou is smart enough of a cookie to step in for her girl when she needs to - Boy Jinshi ran away fast. But that also has gotten Maomao’s head stirring and we all know what that means. The whole scene is a bit complicated. So I’ll just reprint Maomao’s dialogue from it here so you can look at it without it disappearing: “Seventeen years ago, when the current emperor was still a prince… He had a son with Concubine Ah-Duo. The baby’s already gone, but… He was born around the same time as the prior emperor and empress dowager’s son, in other words, the current emperor’s little brother. That was the only child the emperor had as a prince, and Lady Ah-Duo was his only concubine. It says the current emperor and Concubine Ah-Duo are foster siblings, so that explains his attachment to her… But it’s surprising to learn a man that lustful had only one concubine back then. Sixteen years ago, the baby died. The baby was delivered by Doctor Luomen (Maomao’s father).” Hopefully that’ll make things clearer than mud. And you thought you were going off the deep end with that theory, sometimes you might be closer to the mark than you think, and others you’re gonna be way off. Like a broken clock gets right twice a day. But either way, this information does have merit worth checking out - as for what it means for Maomao herself? Stay tuned. :)
