Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to MHA season 7, episode 8!!! WHOA!!!!! This one was so good, man, they did not waste a second of the momentum building up to this!!!! I loved the fight scenes, the flashback scenes were heartbreaking, and Shoto's progress is tear-worthy!!!! It works on so many levels that he found a way to balance his two sides, specifically for this fight too. So proud of him! What's gonna happen to Dabi? They made it sound like he wasn't doing great before this soooo....!!! I guess we'll find out! Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

Omg, that's wild! Interesting about the prequel too. I'd be down to see Aizawa's backstory! DRUNK AIZAWA?! Heck yes, sign me up lol!! I actually love some good happy/fluffy stories! No kidding about the callback, that's so well timed!! :O

2024-07-02 13:05:39 +0000 UTCThank you!! :) Yeah, now it's just four more chapters 😭😭 I still don't know how to deal with this 😭 At least I haven't finished (and therefore need to re-start) Vigilantes (the MHA Prequel 5 years earlier, I heard a rumor about an anime adaptation, but I'm not sure, I'll tell you one thing: you learn more about Aizawa's backstory in it :D) and still have a few School Briefs ("normal" English text using books with stories about Class A (mostly) in their downtime ^^ Teaser: there is a chapter (it's the 3rd book btw) with DRUNK AIZAWA xD These little stories always make me SO happy, so just in case you need smth a bit more uplifting for a change 🙃😅 It was actually quite "funny" for the "manga and anime" people, because in yesterdays chapter, we just got a callback to a scene that JUST happened a few episodes back in the anime and that fit just so perfectly 😂😂😂

This had me emotional the whole time cause of just covering everything we’ve built up with the Todoroki family, and especially seeing that Dabi still wanted to go back initially. He didn’t turn as soon as he woke up and learned what happened, he still wanted to just train with Endeavor and make him proud. He could’ve been a good kid, but AfO got to him first. Todoroki’s new move is so sick, love the effects they used for it. And that last punch was so beautiful with the pencil art of their young selves fading into white. Especially with some of the music they were using like that choral song, they’ve used it for the biggest Todoroki family moments so far like Deku vs Shoto and Endeavor’s Prominence Burn against the Nomu in the S4 finale.

2024-06-30 19:46:29 +0000 UTCLol, yeah, that'd be my shortest MHA reaction ever! I heard about the manga, that's wild! Yeah we've been building to this for a while. I don't think it's a stretch to say that this family dynamic is one of the most complicated in anime history actually! That's so true, they took two totally different paths - Shoto focusing on overcoming/growing from his experience with his dad, and Toya/Dabi becoming fixated on it. Lol he totally brought balance!!! Yeah It's Complicated doesn't really cover this at all! I have no idea if Dabi will be okay after this either. I hope we get clarity on that scene too!!! Totally full circle though, I love it!

But just, as I said, this arc started in 2021 and it ended recently... So there is a good chance that twists and surprises will happen at certain times and that what we thought certain is no longer so.

2024-06-26 08:01:26 +0000 UTCI looked earlier this morning confused and wondering why the MHA posted video was less than 20 minutes. Considering the content here I KNEW that couldn’t possibly be right. Sounds like it was just a clerical error. 🤣 So, we’ve hit the 1/3 mark of the actual new content season with this episode. I should also inform you, that the manga announced it would release the final chapters of the series on August 5. I don’t know how far off the anime is from the manga so someone else should probably deduce that. It was always going to lead to these two facing off. It’s been building for so long it couldn’t have happened any other way. This episode could probably also be called two paths. We’ve touched before on the fallout from Endeavor’s actions and their unintended consequences - but they really come to a head here, because I don’t think he would’ve ever thought this situation would come up. By the way, is it going out on a stretch to say that the Todoroki family dynamic might be one of the most complicated ones in recent anime history? It’s almost like the author is inserting a Shakespeare tragedy in the middle of his shonen. You talked a lot about Shoto and how he was able to grow because of the positive influences around him that helped him overcome his completely justified disdain for his dad, and focus more on what he COULD be doing instead. The whole story is actually flipped as Dabi seems to have had a fierce loyalty to Endeavor right up to the accident - but when he realized he’d been tossed aside he had no such support. One might say that the reason he can’t feel the flames isn’t just physical - he also burned all his emotions away. Without anyone who was really looking out for him, it was just “I’m going to get revenge even if it kills me.” Yes, what their dad put them through is not cool (no pun intended) but at some point everyone’s responsible for their own actions. Just as Toga was being chided last episode, Dabi might feel completely justified in his vendetta but it doesn’t make it right to take other lives with it. That’s why Shoto worked so hard to come up with an answer to stop him. I guess in a way he brought… balance to his force? Icy fire is kind of an interesting way to put his own stamp on the abilities he inherited. As for what happened at the end, I can’t tell if Shoto dealt a knockout blow or a killing blow. Either way, if you ask anybody in that family how it’s doing, “it’s complicated” doesn’t even really begin to cover it. I’m assuming we’ll be bouncing around to different fights each episode but a little more clarity about the last scene might be nice. But he did win using his own power. Full circle.

2024-06-26 07:08:41 +0000 UTCHey Leonie! I agree that there were so many strong points to this fight! I can see the need to stretch it out a bit, but the visuals, music, etc. really worked well! That's the thing, he's so far gone, it was really important to be able to connect those dots a bit better! Oh yeah, I think he's definitely gonna be a harder case than that if he does live! He does seem to be much more hardened than maybe even Shigaraki in some ways. It wouldn't make sense for him to just come around all of a sudden! Yeah Dabi isn't here to try and change the world at all, he literally just wants to watch it burn, most of all his dad!

2024-06-25 21:47:50 +0000 UTCHey Melissa, the fight itself was shorter than I thought it would be, hence why the added flashbacks of Toya was needed to make the fight feel longer. Overall, the fight was incredibly tense and how Shoto dealt the final blow was pretty awesome, also thanks to the strong OST choice, too. Toya's flashbacks of what became of him and what led him to what he had become was interesting and, honestly, needed. His path towards vengeance was so severe and only added in making his personality very warped and chaotic. So it only felt fitting for Shoto to unleash his new skill and, with help from his allies, was able to charge it up enough for him to defeat his brother. I don't know now whether Dabi will die or stay alive. But if he stays alive, I hope he's not immediately lovely-doubtly with his family, but goes to prison first, because he's killed so many people. And I still don't know exactly why. Because actually the reason he became evil in the first place was his father. I do like his backstory and how it relates to the greater issues with Hero Society, and specifically his father Endeavour, but he has no good qualities left like Shigaraki. While those like Spinner have interests in creating a new world where they can exist happily because of their perceived and yet very real rejections from modern hero society...Dabi is literally just mad at his father.
