Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season two, ep 1 of the Rohan live action series! OMG!!! They did a great job with this adaptation!! A lot of it was beat for beat what I remember from the OVA. They did a great job building up tension and also selling that the main guy was going through a lot of changes (all while on a tight visual effects budget). The climax with Rohan was really great, his VA killed it! And omg, they're tying together all the stories now?! That's actually kinda genius!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait for more! Enjoy! ~ MH

Good point, and since these will likely remain a Patreon exclusive, it's probably fine for now. But thanks for the concern! Oh that's right, I forgot that Icarus was one of the inspirations too. That's what it looked like to me too - the "haunted" hill was where he had been running. Let's see, fixating on one thing, buying merch, focusing on it more than other things in an effort to get through the day - that kinda sounds like any fan with any fandom to me. :P Did you use Heaven's Door to write that I should take your Patreon money and go buy more Jojo merch?! Cause that's what I'm gonna do!!!! XD (Just kidding - since you brought it up, I get my Jojo merch from my husband and family, I don't use Patrons' money for it, FYI.)

At least Rohan had the decency to get famous first :P Oh ok cool, thanks for clearing that up about where we left off in the OVA! I have the books but haven't read them. I'm sure they're amazing! There's a few stories in there that were never adapted to the OVA, which I'm sure they'll cover here!

2024-06-25 13:36:47 +0000 UTCHey Leonie! I agree!! I know, I never saw that coming either, but it's actually so smart. And yes, Rohan's actor's acting in this was definitely leveled up!!! They really did do well incorporating everything, even lots of the details, of the story, while still making it their own. Hehehehe shirtless would've been nice too ;) Their dynamic is so fun, here's hoping they move in together hehe! It wouldn't surprise me if they each were sort of similar to their characters! Wouldn't be funny if the roles were totally reversed instead lol! Yay!!! I'm looking forward to it too!

Okay I’m really looking forward to the next one. I have not read the books. But I’m remembering as you have. This was the last one in the ova, with Okuyasu offering his home to Rohan at the end. Again I haven’t read the books but thinking about the ovas now has me curious about what was done with the order of things.

2024-06-25 11:23:24 +0000 UTCI should point this out ahead of time: it doesn’t affect me personally as I saw the OVAs when you did, and , most of the people watching this on Patreon probably have too - but you ARE really “spoiling” for anyone who might have NOT seen them, someone who’s watching later on YouTube or the like, so you might want to be a bit cognizant of that. (This is the main reason why I’m not so sure about the whole manga review thing being the best idea). I’m just saying caution is advised. :) As far as the adaptation goes, it for the most part seems to be remaining faithful to what we’ve originally seen. Also the deity that possessed Yoma is named Icarus - I believe he was a deity that was given wings that would melt if he flew too close to the sun - which is a lot of what happens to the person he possessed - it was so bent on one thing that everything else crumbled around him. It appears that this yokai originated on Mutsukabe Hill because that’s where Yoma was originally running - so that’s why Rohan decided to buy it. Also he said he had to move out of the mansion next month. He’s got a bit of time left so he can still slam the door in Izumi’s face a while longer. Hey, wait… obsessed with one thing… ignores everything else… looks at all the JoJo content…. Okay you’re seriously possessed, you’re using everyone’s money to buy merch, and you expect me yo believe a spirit is NOT involved at this point? (Insert Joseph OMG scream here) Heavens Door. ~fin PS: I’m not telling you what I wrote. 👀

I never saw it coming that the producers of this show would link so many episodes together and make it look like a complete story and not as episodic as it was in the anime. I also think the actor of Rohan really stepped up his acting game, because the acting he did in this episode was really super good. They did a really good job of implementing the OVA The Run in this episode. With almost all the details. And of course they added their own stuff again, which I think is mega cool, as I mentioned in the last comment. I agree, the outfit Rohan wore to the gym was really pretty. But I wish we could have seen him shirtless for a few scenes. It would be awesome if Izumi and Rohan moved in together in the next episode. I think that would take their relationship to the next level. And I love the dynamic between them so much. I definitely want to see more of it. I sometimes wonder if the actor of Rohan in Real Life is like that too, because I could really see that happening. I think Izumi is really like that in real life too, as she portrays in her role. At least it would fit very well. I would have to see if there are any videos or interviews of the actor of Rohan as he is in real life. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the episodes this season and can't wait to see them next week.
