Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to Bad Batch, season 3 episode 1! WOW are we kicking things off in a big way!!! Omega is staying so strong! She's so kind and gentle, and the whole thing with her doggy just broke me :(((((((( Of course she'd want to help a helpless creature in need....I hope Petra is okay!!! I think our sis is definitely on our side, which is great, and Crosshair is just......well, so Crosshair!!! I love seeing his deeper feelings in between the harshness he's known so well for. Dang guys, I cannot wait to see where this is all going! Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

Hey Saltire, it's great to have you back!!! The timing is so perfect that I'm just watching the season as it's ended in real time! I hope you enjoy the rewatch :) And thanks for the heads up on the brightness, I often have trouble with that anyway since I have lots of bright lights facing me while I watch, so I'll make some adjustments! I can totally see how the score is Andor-like! I agree, it really feels like we've established the misery that is so well associated with the Empire. I know, you can tell Crosshair feels a lot of guilt. So true, Emerie is a prisoner as much as the rest of them. What a joke that they still try to insist it's not a prison! It's cool how they're tying all this in with how Palpatine returned, it actually makes a lot of sense that he'd be experimenting with the cloning ideas this early on. I couldn't agree more about Hemlock's VA! I know, it's crazy and beautiful that there can be a little glimmer of hope even in the bleakest of times! Omega really is like a beacon in that regard! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you! My inbox got a bit overloaded this month but I'm glad to hear from you!!!

2024-05-15 13:34:34 +0000 UTCHello Melissa and everyone, good to be back here to watch and talk some Star Wars with you all! :) As you say in your intro Mel, the show has been out a wee while and for me and I'm sure some others on here, we just watched the finale yesterday (and I watched it four times at that!); but its a show I've been rewatching a lot anyway (as I still do with the mighty Rebels!) so its good to rewatch with you and perhaps pick up on some stuff I didn't on first viewing, or get your take on it Mel with fresh eyes! A little note for you before getting into the episode, that I dunno your tv setup or settings Melissa, but the lighting has been modified (as has some other things in this show making it even more beautiful than back in season 1), but for a four episode run from 3x06-3x09, and perhaps one or two bits later, it can be quite dark for some. So just keep that in mind that you may need to turn your brightness settings up when watching! :D Anyway onto the episode. Right from the off, Kevin Kiner the series composer delivers an Andor-type score to this episode (I think they were making both shows around the same time) just to give another unsettling dystopian feel to this base at Tantiss, as a parallel to the prison facility in that other show. Everything is just so miserable, it really feels like the Empire is now fully established. Nala Se is looking out for Omega by not having her blood sample taken, and yes we all know where this research eventually leads to. Seeing Crosshair and those other poor clones just look so defeated, is sad to see. Omega is strong though despite her diminutive frame. Crosshair especially has been put through the ringer it seems, and is trying to tell Omega to just get out of there anyway she can, and forget about him. She won't do that though, as we see with her helping Batcher the lurka hound, that she doesn't give up trying to help others. She makes her Lula doll just to remind herself of home and the rest of Clone Force 99. We shift time and judging by the tally marks, its been over 5 months, and that Omega's hair is longer and we are still doing this same dull monotonic routine. It must grind down even many of the imperials working there; but it won't grind down Omega. The scene where Crosshair tells her "I belong in here" shows how he feels this is a penitence for his crimes under the Empire and that he is beyond redemption. He's had a lot of time to dwell on his actions and has in a way become institutionalised. He can be the most difficult character, but as Omega says, nobody deserves to be locked in here. Omega gets a suprise inspection - but its not a prison right!?! Emerie herself is as much a prisoner there as the clones and other things and beasties are, she just doesn't know it. So we hear from Hemlock and Nala Se that they take blood from "specimens" and mix it with clones and others, but so far the results show that the M-count gets diminished along the way. That isn't good enough for Palpatine, as he'd want his force power kept strong when transferring to a new body. Hemlock going full villain now in threatening Crosshair if Omega steps out of line. He's a nasty piece of work but his VA Jimmi Simpson makes every word he says engaging nevertheless; he's a memorable baddie. However that end scene is subtly very beautiful. Emerie gives Omega the doll back and Batcher cries outside, along with Omega's theme, shows how Omega's spirit warms all around her.

2024-05-02 14:22:42 +0000 UTCSounds good, thanks for being considerate about spoilers! Right, it must be hard to have no sense of direction in a case like this. Hahahaha I'm so glad I came to mind when you first saw Omega and her puppy! Also I had no idea she was saying "Batcher", I thought she was saying Petra :P Yeah, I don't think Emerie is necessarily a friend but I feel like she's also not a foe either. Hemlock does seem to love his work. Yeah I'm curious about why Omega's blood can't mix in, I'm gonna have a blast theorizing haha. Poor Crosshair! His personality is still strong but he's been through a lot. That's probably a good call to focus on one story at a time. LOL see you in the next one!

2024-04-30 14:11:06 +0000 UTCI’m obviously up to current so I will have to be a little choosy what information I share with you - cause you know, we can’t have you knowing what happens. But in a weird way since you’ve seen the movies does that mean you already do? 👀 The important thing to understand here is that Omega and Crosshair are completely disoriented in different ways, and neither one of them even know where they’re being held. So if their friends asked them where to go, they wouldn’t be able to tell them. Guess which reactor came to mind the first time I saw Omega fooling around with LH-201 (the smaller canine), which she’s affectionately named “Batcher?” It looks like these beasties are being bred for guard protection and if they’re not savage, they’re not useful. I think you’re misinterpreting Emerie slightly so far - she isn’t a friend, but she isn’t an enemy. She’s just one of those people who’s doing their job, just as they’re told. The name of the guy in charge of this operation is Dr. Royce Hemlock. As you can see he’s quite a jubilant and friendly fellow. He’s obviously behind all this “research.” Speaking of the “research,” it seems Nala Se is particularly interested in making sure that Omega’s data doesn’t get even logged in the system. I know the reason why she’s doing this, but you go ahead and theorize. Crosshair’s actually somewhat “broken” at this point. As Hemlock said, all their attempts to “re-educate” him aren’t working, but they can’t be pleasant, either. He’s not his usual self, even though his personality is still there. There’s several factions at work here, so the episodes tend to focus on one group of characters at a time, just do it’s not as distracting. /hops out of the cell and on to the next one
