Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5 Ep 25 "Spice Girl / Spicy Lady" - reaction & review

Google Drive Link posted under description!

Hey everyone!  Here I am with Jojo Part 5, episode 25!!  WHOA!!!!!  Okay you guys, this might be one of my absolute favorite new Stands!!!  Like is it just me, or have we never had a Stand that's quite this independent/sentient/talkative?!  She's beautiful in design as well! I was so proud of Trish here, she really overcame her insecurities and had a wonderful moment to shine here!!!!  I can't wait to see more of her being part of the crew now!  And WOW guys, the boss is really onto our crew....and it seems like the reason for that is a big old clue that our gang has yet to discover!!!  I guess we'll be getting to know the boss' origin story next time!!!  Great ep!  Can't wait for more!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

I couldn't agree more about Trish and her Stand! Her development was so well done and it really feels like she's officially part of the crew now!!! WOW, that is actually a really fascinating interpretation of Trish's Stand!!! I never even thought of that. It makes so much sense and definitely adds even more emotional weight to her Stand. Oohhhhh I'm dying to know more about the Boss!!! I'm dying to know more, and you're so right about his presence. He's so scary to me!!! I think I'm more scared of him right now than I was of Dio lol. FANARTS!!!!! YAY!!!!! Ok let me go make a separate comment for that, yayyyy!!!

Melissa Moore

Oh yay, congrats to your team!!! Hey, there's nothing wrong with that! I wish I knew more about sports, all I know is that I'm legally obligated by everyone in my family to root for the Bills :P Hahahah oh I must have gotten this show confused with Gotchard for a second! Ohhhhh I didn't know that about the real Notorious BIG!!! It was said B.I.G. right? They weren't saying it like that here but that's what I remember hearing, but I was too young at the time to really be into his music, so I wasn't sure. Hahaha now you're the one stuck on dinosaur talk! Yeah, this is kind of a plot device to spark Trish's growth! It's a scary/interesting one though. So well said about doing the right thing, and how Trish's Stand embodies her conscience, maturity, and confidence. That's what I thought about her Stand too, it's a great metaphor! Ohhhhh I didn't catch that about the parachute!!! Good call about the canals showing that the Boss is still in Venice, thanks! Ok thanks for clearing that up too, he literally can sense Trish's Stand because of their relation. That's what I said about Risotto! Enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that. Thanks for the info on what happened at the end there lol, for some reason I thought he cleaned it all up during the time skip. Kinda surprised he'd risk someone seeing all that even if they couldn't remember it! Hahaha that's right, my next reaction will be a Christmas one!!!! LOL I've been having Jojo Christmas like every week with all my hauls :P But yeah, I'll try to dig up a Santa hat for the occasion!!!!! XD

Melissa Moore

Hi Spadeas! :) Ohhhhh that's what it was? I can't believe I didn't know that, I've seen omurice before in anime! OHHHH you're so right about the nen aspect! I didn't even think of that! I was thinking of Ikalgo at the beginning of this arc though lol. Ohhhhh is that what happened! How did he know the maid would take down all the photos??? I got so confused, sorry lol, that was a great explanation! Ohhh I'll look out for Spice Girl next time! That's true, the Sex Pistols can converse pretty well too! Great point, she's had this Stand so long yet it's just now manifesting. Thanks for all the info!

Melissa Moore

That's such a great point, this ep really turns that trope on its head right?! Great call too that this comes from such an innately feminine place and is in direct contrast to her father's need for control. LOL it wouldn't be Jojo if it we didn't have a fleshy kraken on the loose by the end of the ep :P Hey didn't Anubis get cast into the water too at the end of that arc? Can't remember if I mentioned it or not in the reaction!

Melissa Moore

I know!!!! That's such a good point, this is all her confidence rolled into one entity. And great point about the pent up rage too. I love watching her just blossom this way!!! She definitely became more in charge at the end!!! YAY!!!! Hahahaha omg you were right, Spice Girls!!!!! XD

Melissa Moore

Wow what confidence a stand can bring. Honestly Pink Spice there feels like an embodiment of self assurance. And the part where Spice girl’s stabbing that stand in the closet makes me think it’s all the pent up rage Trish has possibly been holding in, if not aware of. It’s cool to see it taking charge. It’s like her inner soul is unleashing itself, as if she’s always had that confidence and it’s helping her exterior become what she’s always wanted. She’s seemed certain of herself by the end. And she’s part of the crew officially! 🎶 I wanna really, really, really wanna zigazig ah! 🎶

Now that I’m finished watching my NFL team win, time to finish up with these. (Yes, I can be both a sports fan and an anime enthusiast. We do exist! 😁) “I want to see a Dinosaur Stand.” Me: “…You’re spending too much time with Gotchard, I think.” A couple of things I thought of last episode but failed to mention: The real Notorious B.I.G. was killed by being gunned down in a drive by shooting in 1997, so I wonder if the way this Stand’s user was treated was a reference to that event. Speaking of Notorious, is anyone else getting large (ahem) T-Rex from Jurassic Park vibes. Yada yada, now you’ve got me talking about dinosaurs…. Obviously this is a Trish-focused episode - up until now she’s just been what we call the McGuffin - the piece of the story that’s causing everything. She kind of “grows up” in this one, I guess the attitude of “anime protagonist” is starting to rub off on her. Or maybe she’s starting to view them as friends and not just bodyguards. Either way, it seems like her Stand awakened when she started making decisions for herself, like, “I’m not going to be the damsel in distress anymore.” Perhaps the nature of how her Stand was talking to her was a reflection on her emotional maturity. To steal a line from another show, “doing the right thing is scary.” Just because you know it’s the right thing, you still have to overcome your fears, and I think that’s what was going on during the reclining seat sequence. It’s interesting that her ability would be making things soft - that way they’re harder to tear. There’s a few metaphors in there to think about. By the way, I don’t know if you caught this, but when the plane flashed. Trish was saying it was faster than the parachute - but the parachute was actually the softened cockpit and not something they had on hand. According to the sequencing, the boss is still in Venice. They showed a shot of the canals before switching to him, and that was meant to imply that. It seems that he’s investigating the place Trish used to live, and the laptop he was going through was a keepsake of either her or her mother’s, that’s why there were still files pertaining to him on it. It also seems he’s not going to be fooled by a death ruse, apparently he sensed Trish’s “awakening,” because of their physical blood relation. But he also said he would have to do this personally and couldn’t rely on henchmen, so it might just be him we have to deal with… now that I think about it wouldn’t that make Risotto a potential ally because he’s also after the boss? As far as what happened to the maid, I feel like the Stand worked like this: Picture time as an airline flight. Point A is where you start, Point B is where you finish. The in between time is the amount it takes to get there. Point A in this case us when the lady first came in, Point B is when time was skipped to. The time in between us when he cleaned up the entire room and left, the photo flying out the window was just to indicate that for dramatic effect. In other words, the plot thickens… By the way, you do realize your next JoJo reaction is scheduled for Christmas, right? But it seems you already bought all the gifts… XD But we definitely need to find a Santa hat at least!

This episode catapulted Trish into the list of my favorite JoJo characters. Not only because her Stand is quite unique, but also because her development as a character was credibly portrayed in just two episodes. She has developed from a snooty teenager who looks down on others to a full-fledged member of the Bruno Gang. Spice Girl is also one of my favorite stands because she not only has a cool design but also a very interesting ability. Softening things up and being able to take on very strong opponents with it is quite remarkable. but her ability also has another function. maybe it's just my own interpretation but I think the reason why trish doesn't have an ability similar to her father's is because firstly it would be way too overpowered and secondly I think she got her ability because she theoretically wanted to soften her father's heart. she had Spice Girl since birth but never used it because she didn't know her father and never thought she would meet him. but since it was revealed to her that she would probably have to spend the rest of her life with him, the desire to have a caring parent and soften his heart with her stand has manifested inside her. this sounds very cheesy, probably wasn't araki's intention to write the story like this but this is my personal interpretation and actually makes the whole thing even sadder. Next week we'll finally be introduced to the boss's little secret. I'm really excited about your interpretation of his backstory because there are so many ways in which you can interpret it. I'm happy to see that you're very invested in his story. I can only emphasize again that the boss has an incredible presence in the story and on screen, every scene he appears in is scary and threatening and the fact that we don't know what he looks like doesn't make the whole thing any better. But now we come to the best part of the comment: FANARTS!!! This one is just adorable. I wanted to send it so you much further, but I forgot. https://www.pinterest.de/pin/11470174044335131/ https://www.pinterest.de/pin/420945896433194718/ this one goes very well with your restaurant themed Jojo merch from the last episode. Side note look at what Trish is hiding from Mista. https://www.pinterest.de/pin/728035096067598540/ A few very cute and short Golden Wind comics https://www.pinterest.de/pin/728035096074785265/ https://www.pinterest.de/pin/728035096073839246/ https://www.pinterest.de/pin/728035096074785274/ https://www.pinterest.de/pin/728035096074785259/ https://www.pinterest.de/pin/728035096074785283/

Hi Hime :) What Joseph is holding on the pillow is an "omurice", the classic rice omelette of Japanese cuisine offered in maid cafes for example. Notorious Big is actually one of the first stands that works even after the death of its user (automatically at least). I don't know if Jojo was the first, but the "nen attack" aspect which strengthens after the death of its user may be inspired by that (Golden Wind appeared between 95 to 99 and HxH started in 98). He actually skipped time, but since no one remembers what happened during that time skip, the housekeeper doesn't remember cleaning the room and possibly seeing the face of the boss and photos. Spice Girls is on the column, next to King Crimson and at the foot of Gold Experience, her arm is raised so it's hard to see her face. For Spice Girls who talk a lot, it's not the only one, you have the Sex Pistol who are in the same situation. But you can probably also put that down to the fact that it's a stand that she has had since birth, but that she had never awakened at the moment, her fighting spirit having no reason to exist when you live a comfortable and carefree life. Only, now that she has to fight to survive, all this is growing inside her and Spice Girls is finally manifesting.

I love how the damsel trope gets subverted here. She is a victim and people are after her but her ability turns that against them. Her ability to adjust to uncomfortable situations comes from an innately feminine place. This is counter to her dad who wants to not only control everything but above all else protect himself. I do feel a bit weird about a mass of dead tissue roaming the seas attacking ships but hey, it’s JoJo.
