If the charge upfront option had been enabled, would you have joined my Patreon page?
Added 2020-12-24 03:40:27 +0000 UTCI'm considering enabling the charge upfront option after the holiday because of the number of dine and dash I get. It's like vermin.
If I enable this option, it will have ZERO impact on existing patrons, but it would prevent people from joining before paying. I know it's the internet and that many people have the same moral values as a hamster; I have accepted that. But I don't think it's fair to allow people to do that any longer. You are supporting me, not them.
I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of such a decision on future patrons, so I'm curious. Do you think you would have joined my page if you had to pay upfront back then?

Correct. For example, if a new patron wants to join on the 5th of January, they will pay for the tier they selected right away, let's say 2$. Then on the 1st of February, like everybody else, they will pay 2$ again. Existing patrons are not impacted by this change at all. This has no relation with the annual membership that will also have no impact on patrons who wish to keep their monthly subscription. I have no plan to enable annual membership at this time anyway.
