Trainspotting (1996) - WATCH ALONG

TRIGGER WARNING - This movie features graphic depictions of illicit drug use which may be upsetting for people who are currently in recovery for substance abuse or are actively struggling with addiction. Please consider before watching the movie Trainspotting.

Although this movie may not be for everyone, it did shed light on some heavily stigmatized topics like substance abuse and addiction. It shows a society that has become addicted to drugs, one not entirely unlike the society we live in today in the United States and I'm sure many other countries including the United Kingdom. I liked that this movie explored points of views that otherwise would not be explored in cinema at this time. As brutal and disturbing as it was to see some of the horrible things that can happen when in the world of addiction, I was actually happy to see that a movie like this was made and that this universe was explored. This movie was direct and somewhat aggressive, and the characters were written incredibly well which are all plusses in my book. Highly recommend giving this a watch if you are not triggered by illicit drug use.

Hey Lauren, you must check out more movies from director Danny Boyle. He is one of the best out there. I think you will like 127 hours since you used to live in a desert region of the US. Sunshine is also excellent as well. Slum Dog Millionaire is top-notch, for sure,

The scene with Renton undergoing detox always gets me, especially when he hallucinates that baby. Wow.

Ahh, Lauren, The Toilet scene is so epic, and your reaction was priceless. I knew this movie would hit you as you have mentioned many times about your past life as a mental health professional/social worker. So, I figured this flick was right up your alley. I think I mentioned it a few times in your liver streams. Next up, check out "Requiem for a Dream." which is also intense.

That toilet scene was nasty lol

no kidding!? that's really cool Wes!

It was a good watch thanks for picking this one out for me to watch Jason! Definitely some heavy topics but I found it refreshing that they dove into this universe

I mightve missed that lol

Poor Tommy… played by Kevin McKidd. His aunt taught me German in high school when this movie came out.

Wes Stewart

This film was such a game changer!

Never seen this one. Heard about it though. Should be interesting. Thank you Lauren. Peace and love✌️❤️

I’m glad you understood this movie and enjoyed it. I knew it was a heavy topic and could be disturbing but I felt that they respected the topic and had real life depictions that could serve as warnings.

Did you see that "lightsaber" though? 🤯😳
