Yep. WB wanted it to be a Deadpool knockoff because it grossed over a Billion dollars, so they screwed with Ayer's vision and forced him to make changes during editing/post-production. One of the reasons was they were scared of Leto's Joker as he was supposedly the most murderous and psychotic iteration of the character on-screen (god I would LOVED to have seen that!) There is an actual Ayer cut that exists and only a select group of people (loyal Twitter followers who campaigned for its release) have seen it. They all said it was phenomenal, much darker, and bridges the gap between BvS and ZSJL perfectly! They were actually going to release it later this year as they labelled it as a (untitled DC project to be released in 2023), but then James Gunn put a stop to those plans and cancelled it altogether....just one of the many reasons I refuse to support Gunn's hokey jokey Marvel wannabe bullshit vision. He is going to destroy DC by making it a cheap clone of the MCU, which is bad news for the genre with fans hitting superhero fatigue thanks to the lame jokes and light-hearted nature of most Marvel movies. The only MCU movies that are any good (Infinity War and Endgame) were because they were copied straight from Zack Snyder's stolen Justice League storyboards back in 2015. But that's another story for another time I've really grown to hate WB. Such a stupid, reactionary company that historically have shown no faith in their directors and the overall vision. (Donner, Snyder, Ayer etc)

Anyway, I'm sure other people are giving you some other movies to watch, but I send you a DM a bit ago listing all the DCEU films and one show for you to watch if you decide on watching all of it. Once that list is completed and you keep up to date on the new DC stuff including the reboot this year with The Flash, you'll be caught up with the rest of us.

Yeah, it's a bit muddled because Warner Brothers interfered in it (like the original Justice league/theatrical cut of BvS) it's probably better to watch after you're done with JL

Ok, THAT was a complete and total blast. Lauren, your smile throughout this said it all. 😁😁😁. No man's land, the slo mo scenes, taking out the sniper...And the tower...lol. Her child like curiosity and discovery...and her sad realization of the Real world...and her tragic loss. Sooo many great moments in this movie and your reaction to them. Suicide Squad (2016) is set between BvS and Justice League. Its not essential to watch it before but I would watch it at some point if you plan to continue DCEU. It introduces Harley Quinn.

Just finished watching. Oh my gosh! Watching this with you was so darn great! I love this movie and I'm glad that you did too! It's great that you payed such close attention to the characters. :) When I first watched this I have to admit that I was caught off guard by that. One thing that I'll admit right here and now - I always get emotional when Steve Trevor dies. Hell, I got emotional plenty of times during this. Quality movie for sure. All in all, amazing film.

Even though Marvel won a lot of the praise for the MCU especially during Phases 1-3, it's nice to see someone that is unashamedly DC. Even though the DCEU has not been as successful, the DC characters are just more my jam. I'm glad you loved this movie too.
