What length of stories do you like the most?

All of us have a different lifestyle, and it's totally fine. But the reality is that not everyone has time to sit and read for 2 hours. Hell... I don't... I'm too busy writing those super amazing stories for my beloved patrons! ;)

Seriously, I was just curious about your preference.

Thanks

Comparing my characters to food is a nice way to put it. ;) ... mmm Asha snacks (I love Asha so much)

If I compare them to food, then your short stories are snacks (takes little time and often very sweet ;)), the mediums are a dinner plate (multiple flavours, takes a bit more time) and the long ones are a full course meal (quite a sit, but very fulfilled afterwards). They all serve their own purpose, so pick the best format for the story you want to tell. (About my own preference: that depends on how much time I have.)

Good input. I think you guys are right. I will just keep doing things as I did so far. But the 3-5k words stories got zero votes... I'm a bit surprised by that. There doesn't seem to have too much of an appetite for short stories. I will have to be mindful of that.

im in agreement with John too. I think for the most part your discretion is best, you are the writer, and you know what story you want to tell. Stuff like Animal Cafe is perfect in the short form chapters, and Wouldn't work so well long form as you say. however stuff like Feliforma works well in both long and short form, since you have built a large character base to pick from, so you can have smaller bite size chapters dedicated to small stories (Like rubbercat tails, they are just little side pieces that enhance the main story), while having the long form chapters to bring the story along as a whole

Variety is good. Animal Café wouldn't be as good on a 20k word format.

I was asking out of curiosity. I don't have plan to change my formula at the moment. I'm limited by the number of hours I can put in a month. It's like if I have 2 full-time jobs right now. I have no choice but to go with something that works for me, else I'm going to hit a wall. I do want to provide more to my 5$ patrons though.

The variety keeps me interested also. John has good points.

Every length has its advantages. An episodical story like Animal Café is perfect with 5000 words, but a deep story like Feliformia with a psycological background of several persons needs more words to develop the characters. So, to resume, its perfect as it is.
