Jujutsu Kaisen 1x11 "Narrow-minded" reaction & review

Hey everyone!!!  Here it is - my reaction to Jujutsu Kaisen episode 11!!  Wow guys.....first off, so glad Nanami made it out of that battle alright!  Also, the budding friendship between Yuji and Yoshino was SO sweet!!!  I loved their bonding over movies!!!  And just when things seemed to be going so well - we got to have dinner with his mom, have a nice time, etc. - the unthinkable happens!!!!!  I noticed later in editing that in a previous ep, Yoshino had said "if it was my mom I'd freak out"  :( :( :(  WHY?!?!?!?!  Why did this have to happen?!?!!?  I'll tell you why - because this crazy SOB Mahito had it all planned from the start!!!!!  So sad.  But I really believe that Yuji can get through to him.  Let's see what happens!!!  Great ep - enjoy!!!  ~ MH

Comments

The audio gets normalized/lowered when I sync the episode and my reaction, so that's why it doesn't seem as loud as it does when I'm hearing it through my earbuds. And sorry if the fan bothers you - it's very warm where I live right now and the air conditioner is way louder, so the fan is the alternative I use so that I don't die of a heatstroke while filming my reactions :) It's too bad for sure that Nanami couldn't finish off Mahito. I think someone explained it in the comments that overtime is a big boost for Nanami and during his "business hours" his powers are lessened to a degree. So it's possible that he can't use them for long like you said. I couldn't believe the mom was killed so horribly! It was really sad, Junpei needed her so much :(

ok im caught up with you :D and have a question.. you say a lot that the anime is loud while i find it actually quiet ? not much but definitelly not loud :D and this episode had.. a fan or something ? :D that was louder then the anime :D just saying >.< and about Nanami,, its interesting.. we dont really know how his pacts work.. looks to me like he cant be long time in overwork.. so he had to leave.. then again he was injured.. but we didnt see how he got injured.. :D so im not sure.. i liked when he went to overwork (boosting his power) and revealing his technique.. boosting it even more.. like.. Mahito had to be.. somewhat close to death right ?? :D kinda shame.. :D it didnt work out :/ PS: Mom death.. was really awful.. and she was such a good mom :((

OHHHHHH okay! Thanks for clearing that up! That's interesting, and definitely helps with that trope too haha! That's interesting about Overtime as well. Wow!!! Thanks so much for the info!

Right?!?!?!! I was shocked!!!!!!

Hi Spadeas! :) Ohhhhh I see, I don't even think I put it together that those were the cigarette burns from the flashback, sorry! Ugh, that plan is despicable, and it's awful that it's worked so well to this point! Nanami is definitely a good stable adult role model! And not bad looking either lol! Nathan - that's a great description of Gojo!! They both have their important roles to play!!!

It could not have been a more gruesome depiction of a death scene. That was horrible

Manny

Gojo is like a fun-loving Uncle. You could say he's a bad role model, but sometimes the memories of the times you did dumb stuff together stick with you all your life. Nanami is like that strict teacher who you didn't like at the time, but realized later was always looking out for you.

The anime has sort of revealed this and Nanami talked about it last episode, but it's easy to miss - when a character reveals the details of their power to an enemy, this creates a sort of 'pact' between them that strengthens the power in exchange for the gamble of giving the enemy knowledge. It's one of the ways that Pacts are the foundation of Jujutsu Sorcery, as Sukuna told Yuji. (And it also gets around one of the classic anime tropes of people just revealing their secrets to each other!) So that's why when Nanami explained his ability, Mahito said "He's serious!" Nanami's Overtime is another Pact, which he made with himself in order to be stronger and based on his time in the business world. It limits his power during his "working hours," but lets him get a boost in overtime. If he cheats, it doesn't work.

Hi Hime :) About the cigarette, it's mostly because of the trauma, as you see at the end, he has scars on his forehead, it's cigarette burn marks from his bullies. And yes, the plan was to let Junpei and Yuji be friends, because it worked so well for them. 1 - Gave hope to Junpei to bring him down even lower by killing his mother. 2 - Forcing Yuji to face his new friend even if it means going very far and getting Sukuna out. Nanami is a good adult role model (compared to Gojo, although I love Gojo). Nanami is a stable adult who cares about others and under the guise of harshness is actually a big heart. And then, he is rather attractive without his glasses too ^^.
