My Hero Academia 5x08 "Match 3 Conclusion" - Reaction & Review

***Video still processing but can be downloaded - thanks for your patience!***

Hey everyone!  Here's my next reaction to MHA!  Oh man, Iida was figuratively on fire in this one....and Todoroki was LITERALLY on fire!!!!  Watching them both demonstrate perfectly the concept of "going beyond" was awesome!  I find it really interesting though, that everyone is able to sit back and assess whatever small errors that turned the tide of the battle afterwards.  And once again, Class 1-B impressed the heck out of me here!!!  I love their determination and the strong bond they all seemed to have with each other!  Pony's quick thinking led to her team not losing, albeit a stalemate wasn't very satisfying for either side.  Can't wait to see what happens next in Match 4!  Omg, we have some real goodness to look forward with Bakugo!!!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Ohhhhh okay gotcha! I just thought I mistook someone else for her and that she didn't get put in the prison. :P Sorry for the confusion! And thanks for the clarification!

Hey great reaction! I just wanted to point out that the reason why Pony wasn't out when she sent herself and Ojiro flying is because you're only out if you are in the enemy's prison, your own prison doesn't count.

Scrunor

For sure!!! So intense! The moment between them was great!!!!

Oh my gosh please don't apologize, I'm happy to hear your thoughts!! Ah yes, they did mention that Iida made the choice to save Todoroki instead. Awwww poor Tetsutestu lol! Yes, he really showed what he was made of here! I couldn't agree more about Pony!!!! I thought I noticed a bit of an accent on her Japanese, that's gotta be hard to do with a lot of dialogue!!! Didn't even put it together that her quirk is so similar to Hawks'! That's such a good point - that even despite Endeavor's current state of mind, in the most practical sense, he knows best how to train Shoto. It can't be easy to admit that someone who hurt you so much on a personal level was right about some things, and it would for sure take a lot of maturity to do so!!! Thanks again!!! What a great ep!

Big ups to everyone. This match was very close and intense. Way more intense than expected. Big ups to my man Tetsutetsu and Honekuki. Tetsutetsu held his own and more. And i like the moment between him, Iida and Todoroki.

Manny

Iida was definitely the star. He was phenomenal here.

Manny

Ojiros pain in his chest is a running joke. Because he has a pretty "normal" quirk. Just a tail. Everyone says how normal, or ordinary he fights. Iida is the star of this match. Pony is quick with her thinking again, putting herself and Ojiro in Class B's prison, and the "stalling" at the end.

Sorry for the word vomit, I love this arc so much!!! And with the next match... Oh man, I am so excited!

I think Class-A lost because Iida chose to help Todoroki instead of taking out Tetsutetsu. But that doesn't mean it was the wrong choice. It cost them the match, but in the real world it was absolutely the right choice, and it shows his growth. Tesutetsu has always been a funny guy, but the phrase I've heard thrown around is "Discount Kirishima." Now we see how he can stand apart. He's dumber, but has a self-confidence as hard as steel and a resistance to fire and ice! And he and Iida both understand that how you act everyday affects how you act in a crisis. Ojiro and Shoji 'lost' but they both put on a good show, and for such a short screen-time Kaibara got to be cool too. But Pony... she is the star. Her power is a weaker version of Hawks' feathers, but she used it very well, and she showed that she is a smart thinker too. Props to her voice actress, who had to have an 'American speaking Japanese' accent with a LOT of dialogue this episode. Her English may not have been perfect, but that just adds to the cuteness! Everybody keeps talking about Honenuki's flexibility, but when the chips were down it was his strength of will and unwillingness to let his friends down that made him really cool to me. Finally, Todoroki is finally starting to realize on a deeper level what he had already STARTED to understand - that Endeavor's advice is good, even if it came from a bad place. When he joined his father for the internship he was starting to see that. Even if Endeavor was NOT going through his own character growth, he would still be the best person to train Todoroki. But only a mature person would be able to accept that training, and it takes many small steps to move past trauma.
