RWBY 6x06 "Alone in the Woods" & 6x07 "The Grimm Reaper" reaction & review

Hey everyone! Here's my reaction/review of episodes 6 and 7 of vol 6 of RWBY! Oh man, we finally get to see what's been causing the trouble in this town and....it is total nightmare fuel!!! The Apathy couldn't be a more timely metaphor in my book, since we are dealing with a lot of "why bother" feelings after the big reveal of the last few eps. Oh yeah, and we get to see those sweet silver eyes again, thanks to Maria's help!!! The next ep blew my mind with the Grimm Reaper reveal!!!! Grimm Reaper is officially the absolute best name EVER!!!! Poor Maria....but I agree with Ruby that there's still time to make a difference!! Would be so nice to have a mentor for Ruby, not only for the silver eyes, but just in general!!! Meeting Jaune's sister and her family was delightful!!!! But don't forget, poor team JNR still has a lot to catch up on :/ We'll worry about that later, as first we need to deal with this whole Atlas business!!!
Can't wait to see more! Enjoy! ~ MH

Thanks about Maria! I knew the dress looked a little familiar but it took me a second lol. Thanks for the info about her; her whole design is so amazing! And Grimm Reaper is just such an amazing name! Tock's design is awesome too, and the fight was great to watch. Whoa!! Had no idea the VA was pregnant when recording this, that just makes it even more impressive. Such a cool name for Maria's weapons!! And for sure, she totally can't be blamed...but it's also true that someone who faces those fears and keeps going deserves admiration as well! The inspiration for the weapons is great, and I love Maria having some redemption for what she feels she missed out on in life through teaching Ruby. I love that there are ad-libs!! Also great point about the rare character interactions. Glad you could see my comparison of the scenery to British architecture! That's interesting that it's inspired by LA!! Ohhhh I love that the posters were Easter eggs!!! Awww so sweet that you could relate to the brother/sister interactions!!! :) Very cool that each sibling represents a color too. I agree that this was a great introduction of LGBT characters!!!! Cool about the name inspo and the hyphenation is nice as well! Adrian is so cute!!! It's such a sweet family!!! Hahahahah yes Ruby knows what we foodies like hahaha. Awwww I hadn't noticed that Qrow and Ruby make those same happy movements! It's even sweeter when you consider that that's all just their closeness, since they're not blood related. I'm so happy you liked my reactions!!! Thank you so much!!! ^_^

Just in case the original comment isn't appearing for you I'm going to repost it. Episode 7 is really good. I love how it starts out so mysteriously and honestly don’t feel too bad about not recognizing this character as a young Maria you need to have been paying more attention than you usually would to her design as an old woman. I like how they took the trope from anime that people get really short when they get old which is based on real life just extremely exaggerated for Maria. I love both fights in this episode. The way her weapons work is that there is gravity dust in the hilts that can attract to each other and the way she uses them is so creative, dynamic and just plain cool. Her design seems to be inspired by Mexican/Latino culture with the skull motif and some of the other stuff so having her be inspired by the grim reaper the god of death from that culture is really awesome. When the title was announced fans thought it was such a great title for RWBY that they were worried it wouldn’t live up to the hype but for a lot of people it definitely did. Being such a skilled/successful huntress that Maria gained the title of the Grimm Reaper is so awesome. I really like Tock’s design her Faunus trait is actually just the alligator scales her teeth are actually artificial metal teeth that look to be disturbingly screwed into her jaw and I think her fairytale inspiration is really fun. I like her accent however I have heard from people who actually are British that it’s a little cringey mostly because it’s a very exaggerated version of an actual British accent. I love the fight choreography because I really think it shows just how strong & skilled Maria and Tock both are. I already loved her fighting style but Maria adding a double-sided scythe to the mix just makes it so much more awesome also I like that because of her inspiration that Tock fights so viciously. I actually think the stuff that happens at the end of this fight is some of the most brutal stuff in the show. Maria’s screams are insanely good from a voice acting standpoint from Melissa Sternenberg and something besides her talents that may have contributed to that greatness was that she was pregnant when she recorded this specific stuff. Tock’s death in my opinion is the most brutal death so far stabbed in the back and then decapitated. Also something interesting to know is that Maria’s weapons are called Life and Death. You can’t blame Maria for running/hiding and being scared ever since then however I do think she’s right to believe that someone who has gone through comparable trauma and still fighting like Yang should be admired. I think it’s so cool and heartwarming in a way that Maria, Qrow & Ruby’s Scythes are legacy weapons and that they are inspirations to each other. I find the idea of a mentor that doesn’t think they should be a mentor really interesting. Also I’m glad Maria will be able to right what she views as wrongs by teaching Ruby. It’s so uplifting to see them succeed at making it to Argus after everything they’ve gone through since the train crash. Nora jump tackle hugging Oscar is such an adorable and funny moment. There are some background lines during this reunion including Weiss wishing she had brought a jacket that are ad lib’s. Also something I think is cool is that we get to see characters interact who never do because of the time restraints a show like this has like Yang and Ren. This city is definitely inspired by Los Angeles even having an island that could be compared to Alcatraz but I could see what you mean by the design reminding you of British architecture. The posters at the movie theater are fun/interesting a poster for another RT show genlock, a movie called Tryst in the Mist, a movie called Demon of the Deep and a poster for a documentary for what happened at Beacon during volume 3. I love the adorable reactions to Saphron and Adrian. I am an older brother so the interaction between Jaune and his sister is very relatable. The family picture is so great and I love how different all his siblings are. Also the Arc family siblings are all colors of the rainbow. The youngest sister is innocent and represents the color violet, the silly twins represent blue, the book worm sibling with glasses represents indigo, the tomboy who judging by her clothes’s outdoorsy represents green, Saffron the 2nd oldest seems fun-loving represents orange, the oldest responsible looking sister represents the color red and Jaune of course represents yellow. I heard from actual LGBT people that say this is a really natural way to introduce homosexual characters into a show and I think that’s really cool. Terra Cotta’s name is based on the terra-cotta soldiers from China. Also I think it’s adorable that they hyphenated their last name as Cotta-Arc. Also Adrian is the most precocious toddler ever. I love this family so much. I think Ruby embodies all of us food lovers with the “shut up there’s food” line. Also a cute detail is that Ruby and Qrow make the same happy movements while eating. Finally of course things can’t be easy at the military base. These were great reactions. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

Such a great ep! And so true about how hard it is to watch the Ruby/Qrow stuff....they did a great job addressing these issues for sure! Oh that's interesting about Bartleby! Awww I think that's a likely theory about Ruby suppressing things! :/ So sad about Qrow, and true that his semblance just makes the whole thing a cycle. It's a powerful statement about how nature/nurture can affect someone's outlook on life, and therefore their whole life in general. I agree about why everyone had their own reasons for being more/less resistant to the apathy! Ohhhh I never realized that about Maria not knowing the silver eyes because she can only see in black and white! :O Blake's line is so scary!!!! Ruby was amazing here, loved the part with the silver eyes as well! Oh good point that if Qrow's senses were dulled, that would affect how the apathy could affect him. Hahahah yes Weiss burning it down was great. Such a cold, dark story of what happened in the town and it was really fitting to have our crew affected by it at a time where a lot of those feelings would have been natural anyway. But it only worked to make them stronger in the end! That's so cool that the Apathy's screams were based on Weiss' scream! Aww I wonder why they scrapped the friendship bracelet thing, that's so sweet!!! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!

This is probably 1 of my favorite episodes of RWBY and definitely my favorite volume 6 episode. The music at the beginning of the episode really sets the stage for the main part of this episode. I really love showing us everyone being really anxious in the other room because of everything they’re going through. At this part of the episode you really have to feel bad for Ruby trying to help her uncle but he’s not willing to listen because of his bleak outlook on life and descending into alcoholism and hopelessness. I mentioned how great the writers did at this discussion/narrative involving alcoholism and this episode deepens that even more. It was interesting learning about the people from the farm and Maria is definitely a speed reader based on how fast she got through the books. Also the name Bartleby is related to the story this episode is based on Bartleby the Scrivener which is about a man who slowly becomes more and more apathetic at his job… Huh, imagine that. Maria’s sassiness/annoyance fills me with life and I think it’s cute how Ruby kinda treats her like a grandmother. With the way Ruby wakes up with fear and tears in her eyes I think it was from a nightmare probably dealing with trauma/grief. I was worried this would be a spoiler earlier in RWBY but since volume 5 I have come to agree with the popular theory that Ruby suppresses her bad feelings like grief/trauma because of her philosophy from volume 1 of putting your team before yourself no matter what and unfortunately that also involves not healthily dealing with her own emotions. Everything with Qrow in the morning is heartbreaking since he went through 3 bottles of alcohol that is so clearly an addiction and sucks. I think it’s great that Ruby is stern and making clear what he’s doing is bad while still making sure to let him know there’s a support system there to help him. Even if he’s not willing to accept that right now he clearly appreciates the thought. It’s always great to see how versatile Weiss can be. The thing with Qrow’s semblance is that the negative effects are multiplicative. The bad luck makes his attitude/outlook worse which according to theories possibly makes the bad luck worse. I think the discussion of hopelessness and fighting the inevitable is so good because of what the story has presented to us and our heroes. The exhaustion and all the problems certainly isn’t helping them as they are despairing but also it is exacerbated because the Apathy’s ability is working on them and since they don’t seem to have been using it actively at this point that means they have a passive area of effect apathy as well which is probably more terrifying. The fact that you can tell something is wrong by the way Weiss, Blake and Yang are talking and their eyes becoming more dull/empty it’s extremely unnerving especially for me because I’m a very detail oriented person. Also even though it was only briefly Ruby with all her happiness and determination being affected is terrifying and before she resolves herself her eyes are becoming dull to a lesser extent than the others. I also think the shock of seeing the red eyes helped snap her out of the apathy more than she herself was able to. I think Ruby suppresses her emotions too much so letting out this anger/frustration may not be enough but it’s a start and also displays her strengths as a leader. I think having a clear goal in mind helps breaks through the apathy like finding the lamp or Maria reading the books. Having the story slowly unfold in the book as they explore the waterway’s was such a brilliant writing decision. Seeing the crude drawing and name of these creatures with just enough time to start freaking out before we see the real thing is great in my opinion. These are probably the best designed Grimm in the entire show so far and the powers and being the 1st truly humanoid Grimm has a lot to do with that. They are like skeletons combined with zombies and the fact that they are very passive/patient with how they kill people is so terrifying to think about because the death would probably be slow and the victims just wouldn’t care. Something interesting is that before the episode they released a clip of just the girls running terrified and it was so crazy to speculate about it. I think you may have noticed but it’s extremely quick that you see a dead man in the tunnels. Because of the gun he was probably the one huntsman they had left and realized what was going on and tried to save them all but he was one person and just wasn’t enough it really adds to the darkness of this great but short Apathy arc. Something else the Apathy do besides emotional apathy but also physical tiredness which makes them more effective. I like the other theories on why some people were more resistant to the Apathy but I have my own thoughts on why. I think physical proximity matters as well as the types of things they had gone through in the past that made them more susceptible like Blake & Yang. Also I think having/previously having silver eyes gives you a natural resistance which combined with having a better mindset helped Maria and Ruby a lot. I love the shots of characters reaching out here because the way they animated it makes us realize that the Apathy’s powers make even small distances seem larger than they actually are. It’s amazing that the reason Maria never realized Ruby had silver eyes is because her robotic eyes only see shades of grey. Also before I forget Blake just saying I’m fine is 1 of the most horrifying things in the show. The entire speech about life being amazing/beautiful from Maria is great voice acting and an amazing outlook. The animation on Yang’s eyes becoming completely clouded and dilating was amazing to me. Also the music being more to underscore what’s happening works really well. Ruby’s eyes glowing silver before she disintegrates a bunch of the Apathy was really awesome. I think Qrow was less affected by the Apathy in the bar because once he got drunk enough his senses were messed up enough to not be affected as much. Some people thought that other than for shipping stuff that Yang grabbed Blake’s hand to make sure she was safe and got out of there. Weiss burning this bitch down was so satisfying. The entire story of this farm being summarized as everyone dies because they stop caring is just the darkest thing especially with the line no one was anything. I love that the hopelessness and despair were things these characters were actually feeling just amplified but to me because they immediately are able to get determination and resolve back that those positive feelings are stronger inside of them. Maria revealing that she had silver eyes key word had was great because to a lot of us it was not a surprise just confirmation in an interesting way. Some fun facts I believe they came up with the Apathy’s screams while listening to Weiss’s scream from earlier in the volume. Also at some point during the writing process Ruby would have bought Weiss a friendship bracelet as a gift and it would have been a big part of this Apathy stuff. Episode 7 comment coming soon.

ME!!!!! But also waaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! D': Hahah!!! (I've seen the next two eps now, they will be released next week!)

Melissa Moore

WHO'S READY TO HOP ABOARD THE FEELS TRAIN?!

Dillon Hansel

Always a good reminder to not hint too much, for sure!!! I knew something was coming in the next few eps when I watched yesterday, but I didn't know what or when, so that was good! Still, super surprised is always more fun to watch!!! ^_^

Melissa Moore

Just a request that everyone be careful about hinting about the mood and/or featured characters in upcoming episodes. I'm grateful that I haven't encountered overt plot spoilers here, but some of the twists and turns ahead (including a few bits of mood whiplash) really need to be surprising to have their full effect.

Christopher Pope

So true!!! They do a great job with the uniqueness of all the locations, the same way they do with the characters!!! Oh lord, I'm terrified lol!!!!!!!!!! Pray for me :P And thanks!!

Melissa Moore

Ooooh nice!!! Can't wait to see the other 3! Omg I know, that voice acting was on point!!!!

Melissa Moore

Hahaha yup!!! It's such an awesome design!!! Ohhhh, can't wait to see what's next!

Melissa Moore

Noooooo I'm so scared!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be refilling the Sad Unicorn tissue holder for sure!!!!!!! Yikes...!!!

Melissa Moore

Ah nice, I knew it looked familiar but didn't put it together till the eyes came into play. Oh the Cinder/Neo scene was great!!! Good point about the vault. And yeah, it must be sealed off at top right?! Lol never thought about the details of how they got in there! I'm sure it was totally worth it for Cinder to have the dramatic monologue lol, if Raven was right and she gave herself her own last name, she's kind of a drama queen haha.

Melissa Moore

For sure!! And thank you!!! The Apathy were totally sick!!! I hope Qrow will be alright too!!! Ahhh I didn't notice that about the cane, so cool!!! It was great meeting Jaune's family! Omg right??!! I can't believe it....and I'm so scared for these next two eps, everyone is telling me to get ready lol!!!

Melissa Moore

Ohhhhhh that is such a sick and terrifying semblance!!! OMG Pyrrha!!!!!!!!!!!! D: The lineage is really cool, and connects things quite well when you consider that indirectly Ruby was inspired so much by Maria. That's a good point about the scythe too, it's very rare! Thanks for all the info!

Melissa Moore

Ah yes good point about the screaming! Ohhhhhh I didn't even realize that about the ears! And Maria's ears!!! So interesting! I hear you, I think Ruby's personality alone would deter the effects a lot. Ohhhhhh I did not even notice that about the walking stick, so cool!!! Thank you so much!!! I hear there's some emotions coming next....I'm scared!!!!!!!!

Melissa Moore

Oh I hear you about horror lol, they've done quite well with it too! So true about Qrow's drinking - it's not only very dangerous for him but for the others around him. Especially when you consider that before Maria showed up he's the only adult here. I did notice that look on his face actually!!! I think it might be starting to hit him a bit, and having the Apathy on top of it undoubtedly made it worse too. That's crazy that it was all inspired by a book! OMG the Maria scene was incredible, and Qrow fanboying was amazing also haha. Ruby definitely has a ton of power if that's any indication!! Hahahaha poor vomit boy!!! It was so nice to have a breather for sure! Ah yes, seeing them be kids is so fun, and great point about Yang! I know, that whole little family better stay safe, I swear!!! Hehehehe I see what you did there!!! Hmm, I wonder....I hope they let them through!!! Oh no, I'm scared now hahaha!!! Thank you so much!

Melissa Moore

Tock was awesome!!! Oh noooooo I'm so scared now lol!!!!

Melissa Moore

Hi Spadeas! :) I can totally see why now, yes! Oh lord, I'm sure CRWBY finds a way to up the horror levels even more!!! Ahhh I'll have to go back to notice Yang when Maria said that! Glad I was right about Ruby's weapon - it really came full circle!! So cool that Tock is inspired by the croc from Peter Pan! Oh noooooo I have something big coming up don't I?! Thank you so much for the hugs!!!!!

Melissa Moore

One things I love about this series is how all the locales have there own unique style to them. I can't wait for chapter 9 next week! Good luck!

Zen Reacts

The Lost Fable and Alone in the Woods are 2 of my personal top 5 RWBY episodes! (The other 3 you haven't seen yet.) Also, I'm extremely impressed by the scream-acting done for young Maria. Chillingly realistic.

Christopher Pope

As we understand it so far, Oscar will essentially meld into the conglomerate Oz personality. He won't be exactly the same as Ozpin, but he definitely won't be Oscar anymore. Oz is already the combination of hundreds of different personalities over thousands of years, Oscar will just be one small part of that.

SaintLily

Woah 😦 that was like a RWBY/Walking Dead crossover. The settlements story with the Apathy was so beautifully detailed and morbidly saddening. Did I mention I love Maria?! 💀 ❤️ I forgot a question 🙋‍♂️ for last week’s reaction. After the reveal and Oscar asks if he was going to be just another one of Ozpin’s lives. Do we know yet how that works? Do they fuse and the first is still himself yet kind of cultivates with the newcomer like how One for All works? Like a completely new being that way or does Oscar himself kind of fade away? 😢

Manny

Now you know why I brought up the sp00kiness last week. 😅 The Apathy is one of my favorite Grimm. I hope we see them again. The Maria segment was epic but it doesn’t stop there!

Derpy Trev

It honestly never occurred to me that the other variations of Grimm could be Salem's creations. I just assumed what we didn't see in the land of darkness was already out in the world. We do notice in Ep 3 that Salem is walking the land after the gods departed and there are other Grimm in the background before she takes her leap into the muck. But the idea of Salem having created the Nucklavee or the Apathy is just terrifying.

dainbramage7

Yeah, it's brief but when they get ready to run out of the house Yang takes Blake's hand and they run out together. It shows that regardless of everything Yang still cares about her.

dainbramage7

So brief PROXIMITY ALERT, MAJOR FEELS INCOMING! Get your box of tissues ready and maybe don't wear mascara, etc. on record day. Look forward to your next set of reactions!

John J Ronald

I think the color scheme of the tunic tipped me off that it was a Maria flashback within a few seconds, but since it jumps straight from Cinder/Neo to the flashback it's a little jarring. The Cinder/Neo scene is pure theater....Cinder could've held forth literally anywhere but she wanted to actually show Neo the vault for some reason....I amuse myself thinking how they got to the top of the platform where the vault is....I imagine the top part is still sealed off as a crime scene by the Mistral Police....Vernal did DIE here, after all. So they would've had to sneak in through the crack in the cavern Cinder punched out....but that platform is WAY up there, so she would've had to convince Neo to ride piggyback with her as she used her Maiden powers to rocket them upward, or else use her wind powers to lift Neo via her parasol then follow her with the flame-rocket effect from her hands that she used in her fight with Raven....all potentially doable but so much effort just to have a dramatic location for your monologue. I like to think about what happens between scenes and how the character get to them before the "camera" records them again.

John J Ronald

Man, Salem’s gotten really creative with these Grimm. The God of Darkness mostly had those basic wolf Grimm. I feel like if he came back and saw what Salem’s been doing with these Grimm he’s gonna be like, “what..... the.... f* have you been doing while I was away?”

Bejo

what an amazing two episodes you watched. Loved your reaction to the Apathy who I think are the coolest looking grimm this volume. Qrow seems to be really taking this hard with all the drinking I hope he will be alright. Also we got to see young Maria in action which was amazing if you notice her cane is just one of her weapons she used to use. I'm so glad everyone is reunited and we got to meet Jaune sister Saphron and her wife and kid. Cannot believe you're halfway through the volume can't wait for next week.

Ronix

The giving what the fans want or taking their ideas and using them is great. No bigger case than The Bumblebee ship. I like that ship , but really want to see White Rose become a thing. Not sure if CRWBY will give us both. I actually never put much thought into Bumblebee until I heard the song on the volume 4 soundtrack. I guess it became a big fan favorite during Yangs talk with Blake in volume 2 trying to convince Blake go to the dance. That scene is 1 of only 3 times the 2 of them were together without either Ruby or Weiss around until this volume that I can think of. I think that's why I never thought they would ever be a couple while watching the first 5 volumes. That and what I thought was Black Sunday being developed for 5 years. Oh, by the way...I think you missed a Bumblebee moment in chapter 6 when Yang and Blake ran out of the house to get out of Dodge.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

I love the lineage of Huntsmen Maria inspired with Qrow looking up to her and basing his weapon off of hers and Ruby looking up to Qrow and basing her weapon off of his so in a way it fells like they are caring on her legacy because they are the only three scythe wielders we know about it feels like they are almost as rare as silver eyed people because in volume one episode one Oz says the scythe is one of the most dangerous weapons to design/use and the only two people he knows that are skilled with its use are Ruby and Qrow

Ridzy

I think now is a good time to explain what Cinder's semblance is because we see her use it here also if rewatch her fight with Pyrrha she uses it there as well. her ability is called scorching caress and it lets her super heat objects and manipulate there shape so when ever you see her spawn her glass weapons what she is doing is using the maiden magic to make a piece of earth then with her semblance she super heats it into glass and shapes it into a blade also a bit morbid but thats how she killed Pyrrha she disintegrated her using her semblance

Ridzy

oooh another really strong pair of episodes, one interesting thing to note about the apathy is that they seemed to drain people's energy by screaming. Some people like to theorise that Blake was the most affected, being the first to drop, because she has two sets of ears, while Maria had the most energy because as mentioned in a previous episode she's hard of hearing. As for Ruby, the idea that the silver eyes protected her to an extent is another popular theory, though personally I think it's also to do with her just being naturally the most energetic and positive of the group. Also, a cool detail from ep 7 is that the walking stick Maria uses in the present day is actually one of her weapons from the flashback, just with the blade folded away. Really great reaction as always, can't wait for you to see what's coming next!

SaintLily

By far one of the best arcs of the show! One of the many things CRWBY does well is their emphasis on horror and I simultaneously live for it and hate it (cuz I'm a big baby when it comes to horror movies/shows). And gosh does it pay off! As much as I feel bad for Qrow, and understand that he is going through a crisis of identity, his alcoholism is not only effecting him but the others as well. When you think about it, the cellar they were in was directly connected to the room he was drinking in. He was a mere few feet away, but because he was passed out drunk he couldn't hear the frantic bangs of the girls trying to get out. Then when Ruby shakes him awake, he stubbornly refuses to leave leading to Weiss and Ruby having to physically drag him out. The girls and Maria could've died down there and he would've been none the wiser - which is something he seems to realise with that look on his face upon seeing the Apathy. I understand that a lot of his attitude - like the others - was BECAUSE of the Apathy and of course he is allowed to feel lost and overwhelmed with everything to do with the Oz situation. I suppose this is a good example of how debilitating and harmful alcoholism is to not only the individual but to those they care about as well. Speaking of the Apathy, gosh talk about terrifying. They not only look horrifying their power is as well. "They drain your will to go on" ...like imagine how bad that would be for someone suffering from PTSD, prior existing fatigue or negative emotions brought on by a discussion that may not have gone the way you wanted it too with your partner... it might make them oh I dunno feel so bad that they collapse after 3 waves of apathetic energy and allow the creatures to get them (if it weren't for their team leader). That's a big yikes from me. But the whole situation showed us a side of Ruby we rarely ever see, her getting angry/frustrated, which in the end is a good sign of her leadership in a weird way. Like if she hadn't have been forceful on the topic, they never would've come down with her and I don't even wanna think about what would've happened then. Also, apparently that whole arc was inspired by a book Miles Luna read. Which is pretty cool. God I forgot how badass that whole Maria flashback was, a little flashforward into what Ruby COULD be with more training. Qrow being a little nerd about Maria is kinda adorable, plus its funny how he based his weapon off of Maria's (a legendary huntress) and Ruby based her weapon off of Qrow's (a legendary huntsmen). Legends inspire future heroes, a cycle that I love very much. Maria apologizing for not doing enough for Remnant hurts when you think about all the good she probably did do. And I really do like the detail the writers took into account with both Yang and Maria. Maria went into hiding because she was terrified of those same people finding her again to "finish what the others started", but Yang despite her own injury and knowing the person who caused it is still out there, still kept going, kept fighting making her in Maria's words "clearly stronger already." I just think it's a nice detail. Reunited with vomit boy and it feels so good! Loved seeing the kids and Qrow in a moment of calm after everything that's happened. Seeing them be kids is something we see so little of nowadays it seems. Also Yang being so good with the little one is so cute and makes me wonder how many times she used to do the same thing with Ruby, as she helped raise her growing up. The Cotta-Arc's are amazing and I wish nothing bad to ever happen to them. So now we face the remnants (hehe get it) of the Atlas military still stationed in Mistral, will they let our heroes through? Probably not if what we saw in V4 with Weiss is any indicator of what most Atlesians are really like. But anyways, as always a magnificent reaction! Looking forward to the next set, like always! I hope you're prepared emotionally, cuz I wasn't when I watched it back in the day XD

Tock was such a cool design for a character. Next week should be 8 and 9 *evil cackle* can't wait.

also just as fun trivia, once they decided the character needed to have a time-based ability, they opted to base her in part on the crocodile from Peter Pan. Hence her being a crocodile faunus and using a winding clock that looks identical to the one in the disney movie

Hi Hime :) We're halfway through, but you can already see why I said it's a Ruby volume. We are talking about the silver eyes and she clearly showed that it was her who led the others, and it is far from over. If you think they are at the peak of horror, I'm just saying that the CRWBY is improving from season to season, don't forget ^^. If you look closely, when Maria says that some are already stronger than her, we can see Yang, because Yang suffered a loss and came back compared to Maria. You are also right about the fact that Ruby is inspired by Qrow for her weapon, which is himself inspired by Maria in the end. Moreover, Tock, the one who took Maria's eyes, is inspired by Peter Pan's Crocodile (hence the watch). Anyway, look forward to next week, Maria will still shine and you will surely have tears in your eyes too, sorry in advance ^^ ' (but a give you a hug from France to comfort).

The horrid centaur Grimm was the Nucklavee, I believe. But I am right there with you, the Apathy is BY FAR the most terrifying Grimm we've seen so far. Interestingly enough, they've actually had the Apathy designed since Volume 1, but they didn't find a right place to introduce them until now.

Love this Volume. The Brunswick Farms arc is one of the best in all of RWBY and The Apathy is one of the scariest concepts for a Grimm they've come up with. Also yes, you're pretty much spot on with Tock. Her semblance has more specifically been explained to allow her to put up an indestructible aura, but only for 60 seconds. The story goes that the writers wanted to have a fight here with the Grimm Reaper to show how she lost her eyes, but for multiple reasons, they didn't really have a lot of time for it and they knew it would need to be just a short fight. So then, one of them came up with the idea of incorporating that short time frame into the fight itself, and that's how they came up with Tock. Volume 6 may be my favorite volume. I just love every single episode in it and they do some really great stuff with the characters that I can't wait to talk about more.

Hayden Smith

Just starting to watch your reaction, but I wanted to mention my absolute favorite fan thing that the writers have decided is canon is that Jacque Schnee wears clip-on ties. It's not referenced in the show at all, but it still brings me so much joy to know that smarmy, smug, abusive prick literally cannot tie a tie.
