Attack on Titan 4x12 "Guides" reaction & review

****Huge facepalm that I blanked on who it was at the end....so sorry, everyone! I've been informed so moving forward I know who it is and WOW....all I have to say is here we go again with the infiltration...!!!!***

Hey everyone! Here's my reaction and review of episode 12 of the final season of AoT! Well, so we have an episode all about the rising political tensions in Paradis....which is so much more interesting and nerve wracking than it sounds on paper!!! Mikasa and Armin are desperate to talk with Eren and get to the bottom of this, but over the course of the episode, it becomes clear that perhaps this isn't the same Eren anymore. He has followers - Jaegerists!!!!! :O Also, Zachary...!!!!!!!!!! :O It's interesting to me that they started this whole democracy wanting things to be in the people's hands, yet here they are with the people revolting. Looks like perhaps the placement of the Marleyans in Paradis wasn't just a coincidence.....?!?! Can't wait to see what happens next! Enjoy! ~ MH

Hey, thank you so much for taking the time to post this twice! So true that they can't be totally transparent. Hmm, yes, seems like Yelena has more to say that we don't know yet! It was so weird to hear those words in this context! Oh that's an interesting comparison with Eren, and that scene is iconic for sure! There are so many factions now! I'll be so curious to see what's really on Eren's mind! Thank you so much for all your kind words, support and encouragement!!!! :D

If you didn't see the original comment I'm going to repost it here. This episode was really great. I think I will be mostly talking about Eren but there was a lot of great stuff. The protesting makes sense because while the transparency from the government was a good thing overall they can’t be completely transparent all the time especially about something like the rumbling. It does suck because the government has been trying its best but without concrete action it makes sense for the people to be angry/upset. The stuff with Yelena is so interesting and suspicious because while I 100% believe she’s telling the truth about what she wants a lot during the conversation she’s deliberately stopping herself after saying certain things possibly to see what reaction she gets or make them think a certain thing. Also her past and how much resolve she has is honestly extremely chilling. It's so sad to see them wanting to talk to Eren but being prevented from doing so. The explosive assassination was shocking but in retrospect not surprising at all considering all the distrust and the support of Eren a lot of people seem to have. It’s so morally grey to see the give your hearts being used like this in the episode especially seeing it happen as you see Zachary’s dead body. The show is so good at showing how fear and distrust can so easily affect people as shown with the suspicion of the scouts now. Also of course Eren escapes so easily with the powers he has. The scene of Eren walking in front of I think the sunset and putting on the jacket is so iconic also I don’t think this is deliberate from the writer but someone I watch compared him being barefoot to Jesus. Having an entire group named after him is crazy. Once again the political intrigue is done so well. It’s insane how many different factions there are now the Paradis government, Marley, Eren’s group, Zeke’s people and even the Azumabito’s all in my opinion wanting different things at least from what we know right now. The idea that Marley has already infiltrated Paradis is terrifying because an attack could happen at any moment although I think we still have time because I think Pieck is a forward scout to gather Intel and see what’s happening. I think talking to Erin would definitely help and at this point I’m not sure it’s going to make him stop but it will help us understand and I think his reasons for all of this are very complex and is just because he sees it as the only way to protect everyone basically. Finally the urgency is so well shown and well presented to the audience in my opinion. This was a great reaction. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

That's a good point! They've definitely had some tension in the past, and I have a feeling that having Bertholdt's memories might have some effect too. LOL the chamber scenes! Thank you so much, so happy to hear it! :D

I always found Armin and Annie's relationship to be kinda interesting. I also wonder if that might have been affected by getting Bertholdt's memories now? As I'm thinking back it's also interesting how Armin was always the one to bring up Annie to Bertholdt as a threat on two separate occasions, and they even kinda faced off against each other in season 3. Just seems to add up especially as I watch all these scenes with him in Annie's chamber lol! Anyway great watching with you!

You know, I hadn't thought about this, but I really like this theory! Eren's really not that out of character in his motivations here, as we saw in the first flashback...it's all the details, and not knowing his train of thought like you said, that's inspiring the doubt. It's really hard to say who's in the right, for sure! But that's a great point that keeping his inner monologue from us suggests that we're being led to believe one thing when it's really another scenario (i.e. Eren manipulating Zeke). Thanks for your thoughts!!

Melissa Moore

I actually suspect that Eren, is the one influencing Zeke, to be honest. Everyone is assuming that Eren, has been brainwashed, but all of Eren's, choices are totally in character with who he's always been. He seems cold because we are not hearing his thoughts like we're used to; anyone could seem like a monster from a less informed context. There are a lot of details we just don't know yet, mostly related to Historia. I think Eren, is the same person who pursues a goal with an iron will; the same person, who leaves Mikasa, & Armin behind. It makes sense that Eren, would choose to save Eldia, by any means necessary, if in his estimation; the current government is burying their head in the sand. I don't know if Eren, is right, or not. I do know that the author is withholding Eren's, thoughts because he clearly wants us to think that Eren, is becoming an evil dictator or something. I trust though, that things with Eren, are probably not as clear cut as they may appear. I think that we simply won't know what Eren, thinks, until we hear from him what he thinks:)
