I loved this premier a lot. It's great to start off with a cold open even though it’s really scary. The line “freedom is beautiful but cruel” fits really well with the themes of the show and reminds me of some Mikasa stuff from AOT. I love the opening a lot. It may not be as much of a banger as the 1st opening but it is a bop and the visuals more than make up for any little issues I have with it. The imagery maybe dark but it’s very good especially Emma being represented by many different flowers which I’m sure mean many things that are connected to the show. I love how it starts out with exploration of this world and how different it is. I have my own theory the demons are aliens but this is not a different planet I think because of how scientific and technological things seem that they have actually terraformed the planet to be more suitable for them. I love the buildup of Emma’s wound getting worse and the fever starting a few times in the episode before it actually happens. I love Ray’s promise because it is really impactful after everything we learned about him and what he went through before being snapped out of it last season. The pen computer thing is so cool and I love how it’s like a cipher type thing. It’s great to see how these books disguised as stories are guides for survival. The chase is great because it shows the danger of this world and demons as well as showing how much training they have gone through especially with Don and Gilda having gone through extra training we didn’t get to see because it was when Emma and Ray couldn’t do anything. It’s sad that Emma was worried for a 2nd that he was still there’s no way to put this delicately suicidal but I love his reassurance and new found determination. I hate to say this but unfortunately the demon with the sword is kind of awesome taking out that big guy with one slice. I think the performances for all actors are great but Ray’s actor especially properly conveying his exhaustion and determination. I love the mystery and the intensity of finding out these are demons are helping them I can’t wait to find out about the reasons they are doing this and it probably will be very interesting. Great reaction. Keep up the great work.

One thing I wish they could have fit into the episode is the pit they mentioned. No spoilers as it would have been in the episode - the pit they mention they actually fall into in the manga and have to figure a way out of it. Loved that part but I get why they cut it for time! Lovely reaction as always Melissa ^_^ I can tell you're already getting super attached again which is awesome!

I think Ray showed his number because he is "high grade" and they wouldn't want to kill him immediately. And I suspect they aren't on earth, the wildlife certainly looks alien.

I've always said that Ruby and Emma are really similar. I think that can clearly be seen in this new opening, but it'll become even more obvious once you see them both grow a little bit more.

Great review as always! This is the first time I get to watch a show along side with you while its airing. I'm an anime only so I can't spoil anything. Just wanted to point out a couple things I noticed/enjoyed. At first I didn't think the opening was as good as Season 1, but the more I've watched it the opening is growing on me! Also this is entirely speculative, but did you notice Norman in the ending song? I'm pretty sure that was him. Regarding the pen if you recall it was given to Norman by Sister Krone. In the flashback of her childhood we see where she got it. Overall I think this is a great start to the season and can't wait for more. Thanks again for posting this video and I look forward to watching the show along side everyone else! Wish you the best!!!
