Vinland Saga 1x21 "Reunion" reaction & review
Added 2020-12-21 13:48:04 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Here's my reaction to episode 21 of Vinland Saga! Oh man, Askeladd is an evil genius!!!! The whole "attempt" on Canute's life was brilliantly executed. Every time I thought I saw how many steps ahead Askeladd was, they revealed he was sooo many more steps ahead haha. And that's all it takes to get people wondering, does the king want his son dead?! Brilliant!!! Plus, I was right that Gunnar was shady!!!! Also, poor Bjorn was sent on to Valhalla, and Thorfinn decided that arm or no arm, he's done waiting to challenge Askeladd. Shoot! Can't wait to see where we go from here! Enjoy! ~ MH

YAY!!! Isn't it weird how I catch some things and others are like dust in the wind right over my head?! Hahaha I'm sure you can pinpoint the exact second my brain exploded when I realized it was Leif XD :P

It's crazy how they've done so much with his character. So true that considering what happened to Thorfinn, the killer is the one who is portrayed as rational and even sympathetic. Oh wow, never even thought of that, that Askeladd hates himself but Bjorn was his friend, and the closest person to Thorfinn is the one he wants to kill. Definitely not living their best lives if you ask me! :P

2020-12-22 11:38:36 +0000 UTCThey did such a great job making Askeladd a sympathetic character that by the end of this episode it is hard to root against him. Mind you this is the same guy who had a whole village massacred to cover their tracks. Meanwhile Thorfinn had his dad killed in front of his eyes and was gaslighted into serving the guy who killed him. And the killer is positioned as the reasonable one. I mean you would hope that Thorfinn would move on, but that's easier said then done. Bjorn talking about friendship was really heavy stuff. Askeladd even hated himself but he actually viewed Bjorn as a friend. Which parallels Thorfinn, where the closest person he has to a friend is the man he wants to kill. Talk about unhealthy relationships.
