Rising of the Shield Hero 1x21 “Naofumi's Triumphant Return" reaction & review

Hey everyone!!  Here's my reaction and review to episode 21!  Well, we get what we've always wanted in this one - to see Myne and the king held responsible and shamed for everything they've done!!!  The queen seemed like she wasn't messing around, even going as far as to wanting to execute them for everything!  The Myne interrogation scene was SUPER uncomfortable!!!!  And after EVERYTHING these jerks have put him through, Naofumi still is just too good of a person deep down to watch them die.  Such a beautiful, emotional culmination of everything we've seen on the series so far!  (Also, good thing Naofumi stepped in before the queen could offer herself up instead!)  Can't wait to see how we wrap up the season on this positive note!!!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

I hear you lol!!! And also, good point about the queen, I guess maybe she wanted to show that her sincerity to her country and the Shield Hero was above even her own family? But yes, tricky spot for Naofumi lol, and she even had planned to intervene anyway. I just saw 22 and I can't wait to see the rest!!! :D

not gonna lie.. i wouldnt have the heart to stop the execution.. :D but since queen want to pledge her life to.. not execute them.. it would end pretty bad in my case :D Naofumi ''execute'' it very good :D but i dont get it.. why queen order to execute them if she didnt want to ? she is a queen.. she could literally strip them of their titles (she could do that right ?) and make them a freaking homeless nobodies.. that would take care of whole situation.. :D i mean even Queen put Naofumi into hard situation.. :D again not complaining.. just saying i couldnt stop them lol.. ah yes the end of the season.. still not end of the waves and they are not going to be any easier :D cant wait to see your reaction on what happen :D (though you may already seen it)

Right?!?!!? I SO wanted to enjoy it, too!!! >.< He's such a boss!!! And I love that he didn't totally let them off the hook....i.e. the names haha!!! Yes, the Queen showed a lot of unselfish fortitude with such a harsh decision. So true, Myne is still her daughter!!! She was still ready to take her place. Naofumi is totally the man!!!! He had won me over before this but this ep absolutely sealed the deal without a doubt!!!!!!!!

I see what you mean! There's definitely a lot of solid-seeming evidence against Naofumi. It's hard to watch people go along with it when you know the full story, but I suppose that's what makes it more dramatic!

Ugh darn, they made the King and Myne's beheading process bittersweet. It was hard to watch honestly. Though I was still cheering with the crowd at the beginning of the execution ceremony. 😳 But yeah, Naofumi being THE man again, came up with a better outcome. I think public humiliation, especially to this extent was honestly the best possible punishment. He's boss. 🤣 I'm glad the Queen held the royal family to a higher ground when it came to committing treason. It gives understanding to equal footing to them and anyone in Melromarc that commits it. Even more amazing of her to say she'd take their place. No matter how wretched Myne is, she's someone's daughter. It wouldnt feel right for your child to die before you do. Naofumi's the man. I have lots of respect for this character. 🛡

Im not gonna lie i tear up every time at that last scene

We've never seen the previous lord of Seyaette. We only heard of him when the Shield Hero was on the run. That was when we met Van Reichnott, who became the lord after Seyaette died. First impressions are a big deal. The other three heroes only spent about half a day with him before they split up into their own parties. The next time they see him, he gets accused of assaulting his one and only party member. They even had "evidence" of Myne's clothes in his room after they arrested Naofumi. It was his word against the first princess of the kingdom. I don't know about you, but I'd probably believe the princess as well. From the other heroes perspective, what would the kingdom gain by framing Naofumi for all of this? It must be true. "He's a rapist." The next time they see him, it's at the hourglass with Raphtalia but he really doesn't say anything to the other heroes and just leaves. After the second wave, they go to the party and Motoyasu learns that Raphtalia is actually Naofumi's slave. We all know how bad slavery is in our world, so him actually admitting to having a slave and not making a big deal about it just makes him look worse and makes it even more believable that he would be a rapist. Sure, they had a good moment with each other at the end but it doesn't change the fact that Naofumi still has a slave. They don't know exactly how their relationship is like we do. Then after that, he gets Filo but she is also his slave. Then all that stuff with him "kidnapping" Melty. It just all snowballs into a worse perception of who Naofumi is. It didn't help that Naofumi was always angry and didn't want to work with anyone else but I totally understand all of his actions.
