Rising of the Shield Hero 1x15 "Everlasting Memory" reaction & review

Hey everyone!!  Here's my reaction and review to episode 15!  Oh my LORD!!!  This one was such a tear jerker!!!  :'(  Raphtalia's way has always been to smile and push through, and we see her doing that in the flashbacks and inspiring her town, friends, etc.  We see more evidence that demi-humans feel a great connection with the Shield Hero, too.  I really thought things would go differently when we got to the dungeons!!!  It was soul crushing!!!!!!!
:'(  The moment with Naofumi telling Raphtalia all she's done in his life was so moving though.  Wow, what a powerful ep!  Next, we have a radical Shield Hero hating church and a monster to deal with, should be interesting!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

It really is starting to come together a bit more! Thank you for explaining! I had some of the facts there, but hadn't quite put them all together. So the hatred for the Shield Hero really does boil down to Melromarc's discrimination towards demi-humans.....I should have known it was something like that! :( I still wonder why the king said he didn't want to lose his family again. I guess we'll find out! I appreciate all the info!

So the story starts coming together, about why the Shield Hero is despised by the nobles of Melromarc, and loved by the demi-humans in this kingdom. Why there are two demi-human countries, that the Shield Hero would be welcome in, including the one that is "strong with demi-human supremacy". Why the church reinforces it, by being a 3 heroes religion and making the Shield Hero the devil. And why the captured knight said the Devil of the Shield was trying to overthrow the "order" of their society. Human supremacy and xenophobia. Melromarc is a human supremacist country, demi-humans are monsters, slaves, or at best serfs (which is basically a slave without a collar, as the choices are practically the same). The nobility rely on this system for wealth and power, like they've done in many real world historical examples. And it seems like the shield heroes of ages past, likely because of their weakness and reliance on others, identified with the downtrodden and upset the apple cart every time they show up. Myne said that the church kept finding "heretics" who worship the shield hero, when what she means is people like the villagers of Lute, who know that he's not the devil, and therefore aren't buying the propaganda. And so, the more he helps people, and demi-humans, and gets stronger and wins friends and allies, the more and more the nobility and church can see an inevitability loom on the horizon: a peasant and slave rebellion.

Oh wow, that's interesting! I had no idea! I'm sure hearing Swedish in an anime must have been a surprise!! Thanks for the info :D

No words. I'm just upset & angry with lowlife people like that garbage. But I'm glad others lives were saved and our crew saying they'll save more. πŸ›‘ 🐦 πŸ—‘

Fun fact about this sad episode is that one of the songs in the background of the sad scenes is in Swedish (I know since I'm swedish, got a bit suprised first time watching and hearing swedish in a japanese anime)

Ohhhhhhhh okay.....! Thanks for clearing that up. He is absolute garbage!!!!

The reason that piece of sh*t sold Raphtalia was because when he tortured her she didn't react, so he got bored of her.
