Hey everyone! Here's my reaction to episode 8 of Vinland Saga! Our rematch is finally here! Thorfinn has come such a long way, which is evident to everyone! However, he's still young and full of hate and rage, which makes it really easy for Askeladd to get him angry and reckless. Now I see what Askeladd has been up to the whole time - using Thorfinn, stringing him along with the promise of a rematch! The episode presents an interesting idea: that everyone is a slave to something. Whether it's another person, an idea, the concept of something like revenge, etc. I loved the scene between Thorfinn and the young enslaved noble girl. By the way, he mentioned Vinland - I wonder if we are still headed there at some point?! Here we are at London, let's see what happens next! Enjoy! ~ MH

Interesting observation about him, too - he recognizes that he's also a slave to something, but looks down on those who can't recognize their own shackles to something. Thanks for the info!

I love how complex Askeladd is, he drops these pearls of wisdom here and there that really make you think. You can see that on some level, Askeladd is completely miserable. He has chains of commitment just like everybody else. He doesn't fully respect anyone who can't see it for themselves, like Thorfinn.
