Star Wars: The Clone Wars 1x06 "Downfall of a Droid" reaction & review

Oh man, never thought I'd be so worried for R2, considering we know in the long run he's fine, but they do a good job of getting me anxious about him in this one! Once again I'm torn on who's right or wrong in this, because on the one hand, not wiping his memory was probably not a great tactical move....but on the other hand, don't wipe his memory, he's R2!!! :P Also, Goldie/Stumpy/R3 is having a REAL WEIRD first day on the job! I can't tell if he really stinks, if he's just nervous 'cause Anakin's yelling at him a lot, or if he's working for the other side!
In any event, let's get R2 back soon okay?? Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

I agree!!! And that's a great point, it does seem to be a recurring theme. R2 definitely could be defined as a unique "person", but then that opens up a lot of debate/question about other droids....!!! Kind of reminds me of Star Trek TNG and the episode about Data's trial. A lot to think about!!!!

2020-09-29 14:21:18 +0000 UTCDrilling R2-D2, is a definite no no. One of the most recurring themes in Star Wars, is the ethics of disposable people & slavery. I believe this not only includes the clones, but the droids as well. It seems petty clear that R2, has qualities of autonomous person-hood:)

And yes, very true that they do a good job of showing the issues that Anakin has with attachment, even though that's highly forbidden with Jedi. So true that he ends up being right so much, you can see how he ended up feeling justified about it!! Yes, it really only takes one time....as we sadly see later on...!!! Thanks!

On a more serious note, this episode really does a good job of showing how much Anakin struggles with attachment. That is a big no-no for Jedis of course. The bigger problem is how often Anakin is right, so of course he is going to feel justified. It only takes one time of being wrong for everything to go sideways unfortunately.
