RWBY 1x07 "The Emerald Forest, Part 2" and 1x08 "Players and Pieces" reaction & review

I hear chapter 8 is a huge turning point for a lot of people because of how awesome it is and how great the fight scene is! I agree with you about the music, it definitely works very well here and wouldn't be the same without it! Good to know about your faves from the soundtrack! That's a very interesting observation about Weiss!! It seems she's putting a lot of pressure on herself. I do give them lots of credit for adding depth to the characters even so early on in the series! Sorry to hear school is hectic so far! I hope it starts to get better from here! Hang in there! Ah, good old chapter 8, how long it’s been. Yes, Ruby slicing the head of the bird is awesome even now. The music during that scene makes it scene more glorious! I’m of the firm opinion that the music can elevate a scene, and I wasn’t proven wrong. The song is called Red Like Roses part 2 and it’s honestly my favorite of the volume 1 soundtrack, followed by mirror mirror part 1 (though perhaps I’m a bit biased on Weiss cause I can relate to her). Speaking of Weiss, I still feel in chapter 7, when she says “I’m not perfect, not yet”. Especially with this being my third day of school already, I can already feel the stress and pressure of doing everything right. From the way she said “not yet”, it seems like she’s TRYING to be perfect, but as she also said, “she’s not perfect”. It’s not the more extensive focus she’ll get in later volumes but you can tell even now that they care to add depth to these beloved characters. School is only on day 3 and it’s already been tough. I think I’ve spent a little over 4 hours doing schoolwork yesterday. With that in mind, thanks for these reactions. It lets me take my mind off of school if only just in the moment.

Aww thank you!! ^_^ I can definitely see how the animation plays such a big part in episode 8. Yang and Blake's interaction was great! So true that even great choreography aside, watching everyone work together was really cool! Oooh good to know about the song, I actually just filmed a soundtrack reaction, you'll have to let me know which one is your favorite! :D That's interesting about the currency! And yes, I love the concept of aura! They did a great job of explaining and exemplifying it too! Thank you so much for all your kind compliments, it means a lot!!!!!!!!!

Man what a great reaction and episode. To let you know episode 8 can be a make it or break it episode for this show for some people especially if they are on the fence about the show because of the animation. I love seeing Yang and Blake interact actually all the characters but especially these 2 characters. I love the fight so much not only because of Monty's crazy awesome choreography and fight animation but also because it is really cool to see all these characters working together, coming up with plans & defeating these really dangerous giant Grimm. Also the song during the fight is many peoples favorite song and might and I don't say this lightly be 1 of the best RWBY songs although it is not my favorite. Something interesting is that the money in this world is called lien and is more like plastic cards than anything else. Also I forgot to mention it when it happened but isn't the concept of aura really interesting? Keep up the great work. :-) <3

Ohhhhhhhhh okay! I would have never guessed those, although I can totally see Mulan in Ren's outfit now! Actually, I'm not sure if I caught that Nora's last name was Valkyrie, because I believe that's a Thor character too (at least in the comics/movies lol)? I can't wait to see how much Ruby and Weiss grow! I just watched ep 10 and I already feel like Ruby has made a lot of strides! Can't wait to see more!

Ah yes, it was an awesome fight! I think I heard them refer to the bears as Ursa in a more recent ep I just watched! And I think they said Beowulfs! The other two, I'm not sure. Thanks for the info! And that's good to know about the song that plays during the Nevermore fight....I love how they use music as such an integral part of the show!

Now that you've seen their weapons and heard their full names I think it's safe to tell you that Nora Valkyrie is based on Thor and Lie Ren is based on Mulan. I'm glad you like Ruby and Weiss' little "conflict" so far, their relationship is one of my favorite things in the show, and Ruby became my favorite character as the volumes went by. You'll hardly believe how much they grow.

I'm pretty sure those of us that have watched RWBY were hyped for your reaction to chapter 8, it's one of the best fights in the show. Random trivia, Grimm names... some were mentioned in the show, some were not. The big scorpion thing is a Deathstalker, the bear things that Nora rode into the clearing and Yang was fighting when she met Blake are Ursas, the big bird that fought team RWBY is a giant Nevermore, the big snake that Ren fought in chapter 6 is a King Tajitu, and last but not least the werewolf-like creatures that Ruby and Weiss fought soon after meeting in the forest are Beowolfs. And those are the Grimm we've seen so far. The song that plays during the RWBY vs the giant Nevermore fight is "Red like roses part 2" and is a continuation of the song of the red trailer.

the fights are awesome, and the jokes hit :D Jaune became the leader because he told the others what to do in the fight against the scorpion...i guess. And if you remember the first time Ruby and Weiß met, a Crystal exploded, sooo...i guess the man with red/orange hair will want to cause some destruction.
