Attack on Titan 3x12 "Night of the Battle to Retake the Wall" reaction & review

Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction and review of season 3, episode 12.   And so we finish this chapter of season 3!  I had so much fun watching Sasha go feral, Eren and Jean do their fighting thing, and watching our main kids reminisce and talk about the future.  Also, I'm proud of Smith for not being kept down - I know he really needs to see this through!
And that mid-credits scene was intense!!!!!  Looks like we've got some drama to look forward to!  Can't wait!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Ahh yes I've heard about that OVA! It does sound fun! Thanks for the info!

Eren calling Jean, Jean-boy and telling him to respect his mother is a reference to the 2nd OVA focusing on Jean. (It's a filler OVA but a fun one)

Czar

YES!!!!! Such a great line!!!!!!!!!!! XD XD XD

“Some things are forever changed. And we’ll make them pay for that” is one of my favorite lines from the entire series! Always gives me chills every time!!

It was such a great moment wasn't it?!?! I loved that! Good point that even Smith couldn't keep his composure and just had to get into it a little haha. Great point about Levi, he's definitely invested and I'm sure hearing their thoughts does remind him of his lost friends. I'm really happy to hear that you've been able to re-experience all the things you love about the series by watching my reactions!!! Ohhh I'll be watching 15 next week!!! :O (The reaction will be out the following week.) I hope you love it!!!! That's true about the scene with Reiner and Bertholdt, it does feel very solemn! Ooohhhh I guess we've got some stuff coming for Bertholdt, can't wait!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!!!

Melissa Moore

Right?!?! It's really been no time at all yet so much has happened. I hope you love my reactions to part 2!!!!!!!!! XD

I’d forgotten about the send-off the Scouts got and how pumped Erwin was- breaking his usual clam demeanour to enjoy it just like the kids (Connie, Sasha, etc.) while the more mature Scouts just stare at him. Shows an almost childish side to him to break his composure. I like that Levi was listening in on Eren, Mikasa, and Armin’s conversation. You can tell he’s become emotionally invested in them all, despite how distant and uncaring he acted at first, and still does sometimes. For him to hear about their childhood innocence, memories, and dreams must hit harder considering where and how he grew up. Probably reminded him of the friends he lost in the OVA. It’s so awesome to have been on this journey with you and to fall in love with the series again by sharing it with you. Part 2 of season 3 is such an incredible journey, with every single episode being amazing. We’re so close to my favourite episode of the entire series (being episode 15) and I’m hyped to see you react. I also don’t know why but that very short scene of Reiner and Bertholdt (the wind is blowing his hair back) on the wall waiting for the Scouts always stuck with me. I think it’s the contrast between the Scouts’ heroic send-off with everyone cheering them on, and Reiner and Bertholdt’s almost solemn one with them standing all alone waiting. Then again, Bertholdt becomes my favourite character in the upcoming season so maybe that’s it 😅

I always forget in the show only 4 months passed since our characters became soldiers, we've come such a long way. And, OMG, I'm super hyped for season 3 part 2, favorite part of the series!!!

chavdar savov

Right?!?! That was such a great moment!!!!!!!

Melissa Moore

Damn, every time I see Erwin do his battle cry in this episode, i get goosebumps. It's crazy how inspirational a fictional character can be

Aadit Doshi

Oh okay, gotcha! Yeah he looked different! Thanks!

Melissa Moore

That's Bertholdt. A lot of people didn't recognise him at first too. His hair looks different because of the wind.

Czar

Yay! Can't wait to see it!

Melissa Moore

So hyped for what's to come!!

Thanks for the info!!!! I've already started the next half of the season but I'll make a note to hopefully check this AMV out sometime!!!

Melissa Moore

Yes!! That's true, I didn't think of that that it's parallel to the talk they had that night. Lol yeah once Mikasa was okay with the fight, I knew it couldn't be too serious haha! I did watch the OVA first actually!!! I watched it on YouTube and I think it may have cut off during the last scene >.< But other than that, I really liked it!!!!!!! My reaction to it is coming out next week!!!!!!!!! XD Thanks to your handy list I know all the OVAs I'm suppose to watch now and when, thanks!!!!!!

Melissa Moore

Nice!! Omg, that's such a great way to put it! Oh wow, that is a long wait to not have any context for that scene! Don't worry, I turned my chair around completely during the opening them when I watched ep 13 this week! Thanks for the warning!!!

Melissa Moore

There is an A.O.T AMV on you tube called A dangerous path. Now that you're here in the show it won't spoil anything. But you should seriously watch it, it's that good.

a great episode to reflect on all the characters have been through. the scene of Eren Mikasa and Armin talking is so great because it's a parallel to the night before the Colossal Titan kicked down Trost district, when they're all deciding they'll join the Survey Corps after graduation. we're reminded of Armin's dream of seeing the ocean, Mikasa's desire to go back to the old days and it's a good little moment, I also like how Mikasa is smiling during Jean and Eren's fight because she knows that it's pretty much just accelerated banter and none of them will be (emotionally) hurt after it, so it's all good haha. if you've watched the next set of episodes I'm curious did you end up watching the OVA? and what did you think? you might like it because of the character it focused on lol

Its time, this episode was what made Erwin Smith my favorite character. He just always seems to be on top of things and seems like he is playing 5D underwater chess while others play checkers. He is also a born leader and just commands respect from everyone around him. After credit scenes are fun, but imagine waiting for like 6 months with that. I'm sad cause I was able to theorize what would happen to lead to that since I watched the opening for part 2, so if you haven't already decided make sure to not watch that.
