Attack on Titan OVA: Wall Sina Goodbye Pt 2 reaction & review

Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction and review of part 2 of "Wall Sina Goodbye".  In this episode, the mystery unfolds and the truth about the whole Carly situation comes to light.
And Annie even Titaned up for a second!!!!!  What a great scene!  It was fascinating to watch Annie encounter all of these people whose lives were destroyed during the first attack on the wall, now that we know that it was folks on her same mission who did that.
It's interesting to think how she's reconciling that in her mind as she helps the Stratmanns to try and build a new life.  And the flashbacks we got with her dad were both heartbreaking and informative!  What a great OVA - so glad I watched it! Enjoy!  ~ MH

Ah, thank you so much!!!! I was wondering about this, I feel like someone mentioned the opening theme a while back. Okay, so if I'm understanding this correctly: 1) skip the credits for s3ep12 altogether, 2) starting with ep 13 don't watch the visuals on the opening theme until I've finished ep 18 (so I can start watching on ep 19). Is that right? I'll make a note!!! Thank you!!!!!!

I agree!!! That's so interesting about pt 1 of season 3! It's not often that an anime is so heavily modified as a decision made by the mangaka!!! LOL glad it's not rushed like some other anime!!! ^_^ Season 3 sounds like it's going to be amazing, I just watched the first few eps and I can tell you I am blown away so far!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited to see more! Thank YOU so much!!!!!!!!!

There's no spoilers in my comment, but I thought it's a good time to warn you of a couple of things, given that you watch some episodes in advance. There's a post credits scene in season 3 part 1 episode 12 (the part 1 finale), which I think is a big spoiler for season 3 part 2. Maybe a lot of your viewers will prefer if you watched it at the end of part 1, but my advice is to skip it and go fully blind in season 3 part 2. Edit: small correction, it's not technically a post credit scene, it's a mid credit scene, so best if you skip the ending credits on that particular episode altogether. The other thing is that season 3 part 2's opening also contains lots of spoilers and it's best if you watch it after s3 episode 18.

Right! She has much more control over it than Eren. Yeah the scene with little Annie and her dad just really illustrates the extent of her emotions and the way she was raised/conditioned as a child. I'm so glad you liked my reaction, thank you!!! Wow, that's crazy that folks don't know this OVA, I'd say it's a must watch - even though it doesn't have any twists or reveals for the series, it definitely helps clarify Annie's character and situation! That's hilarious about the fake trailer though haha. I'll do my best to avoid any and all spoilers during the delay! I just avoid YouTube, memes, etc. relating to Attack on Titan altogether and it's worked out okay so far! OMG I have started season 3 and I can already tell I'm in for one heck of a ride....I agree that the seasons just get better and better! Oh that's a great question about my fave characters! Hmm, I'd have to say Mikasa and Sasha are my fave girl characters, Armin is still no. 1 boy in my heart lol, and characters like Conny, Jean and Levi have grown on me more and more. Oh and I always know I'll be entertained when Hanji shows up lol. It's weird because there are characters that I really find interesting, like Ymir, Reiner and Bertholdt, but it's not the same as that personal attachment/investment, you know?? I kinda feel the same way about Eren lol. I want him to be okay and I'm dying to see what happens to him but I'm not sure if I actually really like him, per se...?? Haha hope that makes sense!

It really was a nice OVA, with the perspective it brings, both from Annie, and surprisingly from random people that have been affected by the initial event. About season 3, I suppose you know it is in fact two arcs, separated in two part, season 3, and season 3 part II. The part 1 have been heavily modified, with a lot of cut content compared to the manga, which was a decision of the mangaka. It seems that this part of the manga was the one he liked the least, so he tried to modified this for the anime. And I must say it is really well done, you don't feel like it is rushed or anything (I'm looking at YOU Tokyo Ghoul...). You will see, and you will like it, trust me ;) And as much as I love season 2, season 3 is my favorite. Most precisely, season 3 part II. This part is really the culminative point of everything, the apex of this anime (will season 4 manage to top it ?). So I'm (once again) really eager for you to come to this point. I am so HYPED for season 3 ! Thanks !

it's cool seeing firsthand the difference between Annie and Eren in terms of Titan skill, she is even able to do a partial transformation in that scene in the carriage to just summon the arm of her Titan since she knew it would be enough to throw everyone back. like the other commenter said, it could spoil Reiner's identity and the Marco scene which we only know about in S2. also I think the Reiner and Bertholdt reveal is what kind of strips back some of the mystery about the trio, so it allows Annie to have an episode where she opens up via her thoughts and it doesn't feel like it clashes with the mysterious aspect of her that you get at the end of S1. also yes that scene where Annie freaks out and kicks the crap out of her dad's leg to permanently damage it is quite something, it shows how much she had internalised all of that resentment towards him until it all spilled out at once, but he wasn't angry at her and instead he praises her. I guess he realised it was only fair after all he put her through, still it goes to show how important this mission those kids got sent on is. great reaction and I'm glad you enjoyed this OVA, a lot of people don't even know about its existence, to the point where there's a fake trailer for season 4 on Youtube that pretty much just uses clips from this OVA and people believed it to be new footage haha. of course it also had manga spoilers in it (like Youtube always does smh). since it looks like S4 might be delayed with all that's going on, I am hoping you'll be able to avoid spoilers over that long period of time, I don't know how people usually do it since I'm a manga reader but they're everywhere so I wish you luck with that also S3! finally! even though I said S2 was my favourite, I think I might have the popular opinion which is every season is better than the last (and this will probably be true when S4 comes out if they adapt it well). I think I forgot to ask for the S2 finale but I'm curious, who would you say are your favourite characters going into the last current season? If I remember correctly you like Mikasa and best boy Armin

Thank you so much!!!!! ^_^ Exactly, it's so hard to tell what's going through Annie's mind. This was a nice glimpse at how she thinks/feels about the world around her. Ohhhh I had totally forgotten that comment that Sasha made!!! What a great callback haha! I can't believe the OVAs are so quickly dismissed, I would definitely say the ones I've seen are must-watch! Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and for your kind words, I'm so happy you liked my reaction!! :D

Awesome reaction! I really liked this OVA simply because we got to see things from Annie’s perspective. Since she’s such an introvert and doesn’t really engage with other people much, you don’t get to see anything about how she’s feeling. Reiner and Bertholdt both break down in Season 2 so we get a glimpse of how they’re feeling as a result of their interactions with the others. Annie, however, never had that. This OVA let us see just how conflicted and tormented she is but that she feels she’s in too deep and has to do whatever it takes to go home to her father. It’s also just plain interesting to see how she thinks since, again because she’s an introvert, we’ve never really had any insight into her outlook, etc. so I liked seeing her work an actual case like this. I also like the little detail about her liking the donut- if you remember when Hange was asking the cadets about Annie, Sasha actually said she noticed Annie liked sweet things! So I found that cool. I’m so glad you reacted to the OVAs as well! They don’t even get dubbed into English because they get dismissed as unimportant but they add so much to the series that we wouldn’t have otherwise.

You're so right! Thanks for pointing it out! My little "disclaimer" doesn't mean too much here on Patreon but I got nervous about when it goes to YouTube...not everyone has awesome viewers who will point out the viewing order to them, so I was concerned someone might click and start watching but not have seen season 2 yet or something haha. Also that flashback in the first ep with Marco would be pretty bad for someone to see without having seen season 2...!!! :P Hope you love my reaction!

YAY!!!!!!!!!! XD

The only reason this should be watched after Season 2 is because of Reiners message to Annie in the first part. Supplying her with information (even tho its subtle) would mean he is a spy and could giveaway that he is the Armored Titan. Im commenting this because of what you said in the beginning, still havent watched the reaction so Im sorry if you mention that later. :)
