I think you have quite a good ideas for what is happening, but you are right that the pieces are there but we are just missing a few more pieces to see the whole picture. I thought erwin was a goner when i saw this but he was a badass with his arm getting bitten off and spurring his soldiers on and then coming to Eren's aid when berthold was distracted by Armin was was lying and doing such a good job despite Annie being safe and sound in that crystal.

I'm glad you enjoyed it overall, and I'm sorry for the little mixup about Erwin! >.< I have a bad habit of confusing characters (especially blonde ones) - it happened so fast that I think I did just confuse him for Armin. That's an excellent detail to point out! Her eyes drawing away, showing how exhausted/done she is, is definitely a great insight into how emotionally drained she is at this point. Connie is the best, omg!!!!!! He really needs a break!!!!!! And to think this has all happened within a few days...!!!!

As someone who misses a lot lol I'm no one to judge on folks not catching on to things, but I've seen enough anime romances/friendships to know exactly what Ymir was doing right there!!! It's been pretty clear from the beginning that Christa/Historia is basically her whole world now! Yay Connie and Sasha!!! See, it's all that brain food that Sasha eats that makes her so smart ;) Lol!!!!!!!!

It really is!!!!!!! It's crazy to think that all those incredibly well done character moments happened in less than a half hour!!!!!!!! It's such an awesome ep! The moments between Christa and Ymir were priceless for sure!! You know, I actually noticed that she said six instead of five, I know that what happened to her parents and when Eren came to help her was a huge turning point in her life. Haha no worries, I figured as much that the Bertholdt/Annie thing was pretty one-sided! Annie always seemed like she had other stuff on her mind besides dating lol. Oh Bert's speech in this was amazing! I am so incredibly happy to hear that my reaction to that scene was the best you've ever scene!!!!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!!! Ahhh yes, I really messed up on the Erwin stuff lol, sorry! Thank you for clearing it up! I hope you love my next reaction and thank you again!

Wonderful reaction and discussion. I have to admit though I'm a bit disappointed that you missed Erwin coming back to save Eren. It looked like you completely missed it? Or thought that it was Armin that did that?

I love how it focuses on Ymir during Bertolt's speech and we can see she is truly touched by it

I'm sure they'll catch that in editing :) It was a pretty emotional scene, so can't blame them for having trouble focusing through the tears :D

There's also something really subtle I want to point out, that scene where Mikasa is telling Berthold to let go of Eren after Berthold's monologue, her eyes are drawn in a way that she looks so tired and... just done. Remember when Reiner and Berthold were revealed, she hesitated to kill them. She's not emotionless and she's also having a hard time to go against them, but she really has her resolve now and you can see how much she's actually hurt already and how she's "out of room in her heart" anymore. I think the thing with drawing the eyes that way is such a nice little touch. Also Connie is so pure. Long ago in their very first mission in season 1, he was saved by Annie when he didn't kill his titan in the headquarters building and later on it was revealed that she betrayed all of them. Afterwards his village was destroyed and he couldn't find his family. Then Reiner saves him when they're in the tower and now he gets betrayed by them. The guy doesn't really get a break, but still wants to believe in Reiner and Berthold. Poor guy, he's really had it rough.

Would you believe me if I said so many people don't understand Ymir's lie in order to convince Historia? I'm glad you caught that immediately. As if she'd ever hurt the one she loves the most! Thankfully our geniuses Connie and Sasha put some sense into both of them :D

Respect for the badass commader Erwin. BTW it was Erwin with his right arm missing that cut Eren away for Bertoult .

1. In Ymir's flashback you see a girl with short blonde hair who was one of her followers turn into a titan before Ymir does. Hence why in Ilse's Notebook it's that titan that calls Ilse "Ymir-Sama" (Lady Ymir) and bows to her. It confuses Ilse for Ymir because of how similar they look, similar length dark hair, freckles, etc. 2. As Connie kind of explains at the end. Ymir's whole story about stealing Historia away for selfish reasons and only using her to save herself is most likely a lie she used to get Historia to go with her since she knows Historia would be even more inclined to help her if she believed that because of how much they love each other. You said that Historia's love for Ymir reminds you of Mikasa's love for Eren but vice versa Ymir's love for Historia is also very comparable. 3. I'm guessing you missed that Erwin was the one who sliced Bertholdt across the chest to free Eren. You see him then falling with one arm before ordering all the soldiers to retreat. From this we can assume he most likely sliced his arm off to free himself from the titans mouth and then raced to catch up with the others in order to free Eren. Also I find it kinda endearing that you always refer to him as Smith, never seen someone do that before. 4. Yeah Armin had to act kinda dark in that one scene using manipulation tactics to distract Bertholdt. You see that little flashback of him catching Bertholdt watching Annie hence why he picked up on the fact that she's probably a soft spot and something he can use against him. It's cool to see Armin adapt into darker ways he can use his thinking when it's in dire situations, he's obviously looking at Erwin as a guide for what he needs to become. But I hope you didn't believe any of the stuff he was saying tho, Annie obviously isn't being tortured at all, she's in a crystal that they have no way of getting into. Armin was just saying the most horrifying stuff he could to try to provoke Bertholdt enough to distract him and make him lose his composure which gave Erwin an opportunity to swoop in and free Eren.

THIS episode, a huge rollercoaster of emotion... I think it's one of my favorite episode of all the show (but not the fiiiirst :p ). They are so many great moments, the Ymir-Historia relation, Mikasa dedication and intensity ("I'm all out of time and room in my heart to care", this one hurt...), Conny and the others confrontation (but mostly Conny, his life have been saved by Reiner the night before !), Bertholtoooo's breakdown (always made me tear up), SHINZO WO SASAGEYO (Erwin, OMAGAAAAAAAAD), and Armin's "dark side". And you combine all of this in less than 20 minutes... I doesn't know if this is necessary to point out, but Armin's idea worked well, because of course, Reiner and Berthold doesn't know about Annie being captured. To think that all this season is taking place just a few day after season 1 (only 2 days if I count correctly !). Now I am so HYPED for wednesday ! This was a great reaction, you tearing up mamde me tear up even more :p Thanks !

So when Armin was destroying berthhold's state of mind, it as actually Erwin that saved him. (its easy to get them confused). But Erwin looked like he was missing an arm.

this is truly one of if not the most exhilarating episodes of the season lol, ah I wanna see the next episode right now lol. the Ymir and Historia scene in the beginning is so good, I never get tired of it. I love how Ymir is kind of pulled both ways by Bert and Historia and in the end she lies to Historia and makes herself seem selfish and feels guilty but that pure goddess just smiles at her and says she'll be her ally no matter what... best character dynamic, I'm telling you lol. also I love the detail of how Mikasa says "my enemies made deciding that easy six years ago"... on first thought it might seem like she's talking about Reiner and Bertolt breakign down the walls and having to watch Eren's mother get eaten, but that was five years ago not six, so Mikasa is talking about what she had to go through before she met Eren with her own parents. I wans't sure if I should say anything or not, but the Bert liking Annie thing is more of a one sided thing lol, Reiner was kind of teasing him about having a crush on her because he was trying to hide it, Annie is... well, Annie, so she probably wouldn't show it if she even knew lol as much as I like the Ymir Historia scene, Bert's speech is my number one favourite moment this season, the way the music swells and he begs for someone to "find" him and it shows Ymir's face... she realised in that moment that she is the only one who could understand what they are going through. your reaction to that scene was the best I've seen from anyone, wow this episode is an emotional rollarcoaster. also if you've seen the next episode you probably know Erwin made it, I think you missed it this episode aha but Erwin was the one that cut Eren loose from Bert and allowed Mikasa to rescue him when Armin made an opening by angering Bert. you can actually see when they charge forward after Erwin gets chomped by the Titan that a few soldiers went back to help him while the rest were advancing. great reaction as always, can't wait for the next one
