Attack on Titan 2x02 "I'm Home" reaction & review

Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction and review of season 2, episode 2.  Ohhhh I am SO excited that this was a Sasha ep!  Being my baby girl and all, I was dying to see more of her!
I really liked her backstory - it was nice to see how she became the Sasha we all know and love!  I think she's learned a lot and really come into her own since leaving home, and it was nice to see her get a moment with her dad to reflect on that.  The little bit about her accent was great and I actually had no idea about her accent until this episode!  I also picked up on something else during that scene.....!!!  o.O  Sasha is the BEST and I loved this ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Thanks so much! Sorry about the video, hope the new one is at least a bit better! With all the added activity on Google Drive (folks working from home), it's been processing slower and in lesser quality. >.< Lol I love the story about how the author changed it! I'm so glad they did! Ohhhh good call about the "dead" Titan theory, I keep forgetting that they disintegrate when they die! Yes that name stood out to me a LOT after watching Ilse's Notebook!!! Get ready for LOTS of crazy theories in the next few eps haha!!!!! You are so welcome and thank YOU!

Hey guys! I'm going to respond to more comments later, but just wanted to give you all the link to another copy of the file! This one isn't at full quality either, because I think it's still processing, but it's still slightly higher quality lol. Hope it helps!! https://drive.google.com/open?id=1lN1b6cYi08LTly8pmdibIbqMU1oSigde

Aaah, I love your theories, it's really entertaining ! I was waiting for a better video quality to be available, but hey, couldn't wait any longer :p It's nice that someone mentioned that Sacha was "supposed" to die here originaly. I don't know how much of this story is exagerated (crying in the bathroom), but I find it really funny ! A lot of people first reaction about the titan on the house is "is it dead ?", remember that dead titans decay, evaporate even, quite quickly ;) And I'm glad that you caught this little name thrown in the dialogue, it is easy to miss in this episode. EDIT: thanks for the updated link !

I couldn't agree more with reason #1!! Haha. Also, that makes a lot of sense that it would be especially disappointing for her to be taken out by a Titan that we know now is not very powerful compared to some of the "boss" Titans we've seen (and I'm sure I have yet to see even more!). Lol I'm so glad I'm not the only one who didn't remember Mike!!! >.< Poor Mike! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!

As someone already said, Sasha was supposed to die here, but that was changed. I'm actually happy about this for two reasons. 1. Sasha rules. 2. Once we know about the much higher order of threat in the Female and Beast Titan, and that they are clearly sapient, having relatively important characters like Sasha die to just a random titan (which may as well be a zombie) seems like a waste. Like a missed opportunity for villain development. Though I won't say whether this trend continues or not, I'm just happy it didn't happen to Sasha right now. For example, while Mike/Miche does in fact die to a bunch of normal titans, since it was orchestrated by the Beast Titan, it also serves as a good intro to their character. Plus, to be honest, Mike was never the most front-facing character; I ALSO forgot who he was the first time I watched that episode, and it wasn't due to a spelling change lol. Sorry, Mike. Anyway, I just mean that it seems like a smart idea to scale the danger of your story with the threat you're presenting to your audience. Regardless of author intention, it is kinda lame to see your favourite character die to a grunt after the boss enemies have been introduced, y'know? Oh, and that's just an analogy, not saying the Beast/Female etc. are necessarily the be all end all.

Yeah, I noticed that too - I think it's still processing in Google Drive. If it doesn't go higher quality soon, I'll upload another copy and leave the link here! Sorry, that's happened before and it just resolves itself after it's fully processed.

the quality won't go higher than 360 for me

Yeah it felt like they were leading up to a death, didn't it? Tom's comment explained that a bit more! That cabin scene was horrifying, so much worse in my opinion because of the silence. And yes, so that's what you wanted me to notice!!! You know, I wouldn't have remembered Ymir's name from earlier in season 1 for the life of me, but because I rewatched the scene like you said, it was fresh in my mind for this ep!!!!! XD I can't wait to see more! Thank you!

Melissa Moore

Awww thank you! I'm really glad I picked up on some of the finer details! LOL tinfoil hats, I love it!!! I'm really glad to hear I'm understanding it all correctly! I hope you love rewatching the scenes with Ymir and Christa again with me! And I didn't even remember her name from ep 3, but it stood out to me a lot more after having seen Ilse's Notebook!!! That's crazy that Sasha was supposed to die here, I would have died also!!!!!!! :O How sad but also a little funny about the editor reading and crying in the bathroom!!! I'm so glad the author changed their mind!!!!!!

This is a really good episode, and first time I saw it I thought we were gonna get a Sasha death scene with her getting backstory and a heroic moment, but I like that they didn't do that. That cabin scene is one of the creepiest moments with the titan just eating the mother and she not making any sound and the little child just sitting in shock. I'm glad you went back to watch the scene in Ilse's Notebook and noticed the thing I wanted you to see. Don't worry answers are on the way...eventually heh :D

this episode was way better than i remember, and wow you really picked up on all the little character intricacies and their purpose, also glad you even noticed sasha slipping back into her natural accent when she told the little girl to run away which not many reactors seem to understand the importance of. also don't feel apprehensive about your theories, this show pretty much brings out the tinfoil hats in everyone and it makes us all feel like a crazy person trying to figure out whats going haha, you definitely understand the scenes, plot and characters really well though i actually forgot ymir's name was dropped this episode and not just in episode 3, she and christa miiight be my favourite characters so i can't wait to reexperience season 2 all over again EDIT: oh fun fact that i forgot to mention, the author of the manga of this series originally intended for sasha to die in this episode, but his editor cried in the bathroom after he read it and begged him to change it so he did - apparently it was a very brutal death.
