Star Trek Picard 1x08 "Broken Pieces" reaction & review

Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction and review of episode 8 of Picard.  All the things happened in this ep!  I was delighted by Rios' actor playing all the different holograms lol! And who knew that his past would be so closely connected with the whole synth situation?!
Also, we are really starting to put together the bigger picture of what's going on now. I especially loved the moment between Soji and Picard over breakfast, too.  And we got Seven back........as the temp Borg Queen?!  Whhaaatttt!!!  XD  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Btw I went back and counted and there were 10 pips which doesn't make sense if a captain has 4 and a commander 3(i think) oh and did you know the director had to quit the first season of tng because the cast was so unruly because they were cooped up on a set for 16 hours and Stewart reprimanded them for being so unprofessional and after that Stewart was the one causing all the trouble between takes.

Oh that's a good point about Seven! I've heard of Mass Effect but never played it...interesting similarities!! I think you might have a point about Picard dying at the end of the series, I know Patrick Stewart really loved the tone and plot of "Logan" and wanted to do something similar here....so it wouldn't surprise me. Seeing Picard on the other end of his journey from TNG is interesting for sure! I love "Measure of a Man", such a great ep. Good callback about the Queen's line to Data in First Contact, too. Interesting question about the pips, I think I assumed some of them were his captain's maybe? Like he kept them after what happened?? The scene with Seven was awesome!! Last but not least, that's a great point about Oh, seeing as how all Romulans hailed from Vulcans!!! Who knows lol. I totally agree that reminiscing about Data was the best scene!!! 2 eps left - can't wait!! Thanks for watching/sharing!

I would expect 7 of 9 to know quite a bit about the queen (7 of 9 tertiary adjunct of unimatrix 01) meaning she served the queen directly. I don't know if you are familiar with this game and excuse me if i go over something you already know but it reminds me of Mass Effect. It revolved around a race of cybernetics known as reapers that would wipe out all organic life at a specific point in an ongoing cycle. In fact the ship looks a tiny bit like the Normandy, the main ship in the mass effect series. There were unknown aliens that left behind these hubs for faster than light travel by changing the mass of the object being projected across space (hence mass effect) I'm kind of surprised that it was renewed for another season though i'm not unhappy about it. I still sincerely believe that he will in fact die at the end of the story, whenever that is. Iromotic syndrome could take years to kill him, but he would be somewhat senile before that so he does have a limited lifespan. It's funny how serious picard was on tng and how he softened and I loved the part where they talked about Data because Picard was always treating data like a human and never really saw him as just an android. The was very clearly shown when Bruce Maddox put data on trial in "Measure of a man" to determine if he was starfleed property or sentirent and Picard fought tooth and nail to prove that Data was just a different form of life, but life nonetheless. It was also pretty clear Data loved Picard after what he was willing to do to save Picard in Nemesis. Obviously this could still tie into the theory that what the Romulans want to stop is something similar to the borg and perhaps they were the ones who were the genesis of the borg. In fact I recall the borg queen saying Data was closer to perfection than the borg themselves in First Contact, I had to look into the history of "ibn majid" and this is what i came up with "Ahmad ibn Mājid was an Arabian navigator and cartographer born in the 1430s in Julfar, present-day Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. He was raised in a family famous for seafaring; at the age of 17 he was able to navigate ships" Which fits with Star Trek canon as the Enterprise was named after a ship and the ranks also denote that of naval origin. Speaking of ranks, why did Rios have so many pips in that bag? There were more than 3 or 4, 4 being Rank of Captain. Maybe i just saw it wrong. It was very interesting and kinda scary but l thought 7 of 9 taking control and saying "we are borg" was cool. I had kinda wondered why the ship needed to be held together with force fields when borg technology can regenerate. I think that cube may come in handy. Janeway come home with some spiffy future borg tech though so in the 15 some years they had they may have anti-borg weapons. Aaaand one last thing... Oh is half Vulcan? That's a little confusing, all Romulans are part Vulcan because at some point in the not so distant past they were the same species. The best part though was reminiscing about data. Picard really was kind of like a father to him, even more so than Soong.
