Just wanted to comment that the anime skips out quite a bit of Annie's conversation with Marlowe (bowl cut guy) in this episode. She debates with Marlowe about the corruption of the military police and talks a bit about human nature like she did with Eren back in training. Instead of typing the whole thing out like a script which would take a while, I'll just link you the exact pages I'm talking about. If you wanna check it out it would only take a couple minutes to read, there's not that much dialogue, and it helps define Annie's character and her realistic yet rather cynical outlook on the world, government and human beings a lot better. Hahahaha no way are you a jabroni!!!! I'm almost always the one who is surprised the most by these reveals so I was downright shocked I actually recognized her. I think you were justified to see the whole maneuver gear explanation as a red herring, seeing as how they like to twist things a bit on this show. I'm almost a little envious, actually, that you got to be totally surprised by the Annie twist!!! I'm sure it was a lot of fun that way!!!

lol, yea i knew who it was when i first saw her. Especially if you watch it back to back it ends with annie as a titan and the next annie is waking up. btw the "smile" she gave was not in the manga, isayama made them add it.

Love the reactions its one of the things i get excited for the most on monday and wednesday! Ep25 also has an after credit scene so be sure to stay for that. I was praying for a double upload, but i already read the plan, and i cant wait till next week for the finale and OVA :)

Finally, now I can say that as someone who was COMPLETELY taken in by the mystery of the Female Titan's identity, I always feel like a fool when people watch episode 17 and are like "Oh. That's Annie" after looking at the Female Titan for like, 2 seconds. For whatever reason, first time watching, my brain just figured all the "It's got to be one of us in the army, because they had access to maneuver gear" stuff was a big red herring. I thought, for about as long as was possible, that all threats were coming from an outside force. So the Annie reveal was REALLY cool, but makes me feel like a gullible jabroni in hindsight.

If you rewatch this episode you ll see how Armin acts with Annie from the beggining.. He knows and he is trying to lure her, you can also see he's a bit afraid like at the moment she moved her gun when she accepted to help. Eren and Mikasa also give each other a weird look whenever Annie says something. Love this episode C:

i was looking forward to this episode! my favourite part about this series is not just how many plot twists there are, but how they do the reveals. the tension in this episode is off the charts, it's riveting both if you guessed annie is the female titan and if you had no idea. since youve probably watched the next episode you'll know, but the reason she didnt want to go underground is because the way you trap a titan is by putting them underground - they can't transform in an enclosed space (remember when they put eren in a well in the flashback of his titan training). can't wait for the remainder of the season, also if you haven't watched the episode already, in the season finale episode 25 there is important information in the mid-episode information screen. please please pause in the middle of the episode, or go back and read it after you've watched the episode, i think you will find it very intriguing. looking forward to the next one!
