My Hero Academia 4x16 "Win Those Kids' Hearts" full reaction

Hey everyone!  Here is my reaction/review for season 4, episode 16.  Watching our crew try to wrangle in some rowdy kids was incredibly fun while still being a bit tense at the same time haha!  I also found the dialogue between Endeavor and All Might interesting and I'm curious to see where it's going.  Great ep!  PLUS ULTRA!!!!  Enjoy!   ~  KRH

He seriously does!!! He's a character that we don't know really in-depth, yet I am always so excited when he shows up because you just know it will add some great energy to any scene!!! LOL that's awesome!!! The tiny criminal mastermind kid cracks me up, I can't wait to see more of him! Also you're so welcome, counting down to 3/4 myself!!!!! XD

I'm happy to hear it!! Haha kids' stuff isn't for everyone, maybe the next ep will have some more content that's more enjoyable for you! The Endeavor/All Might stuff was interesting! Also, good question on Camie's real quirk, I'm not sure if they've said yet!!! Maybe they will in this arc?? :D

But how great was Present Mic here? He just ignites any room he walks into. He’s so great lol. The criminal mastermind kid was everything I wanted to be when I was 5 😫. And thanks for the heads up. I’m marking March 4 on my calendar rn. πŸ˜πŸ‘

Exactly!!! There's a good focus on character development but also on the bigger picture. I like that! Thanks for the info on Toga!! I honestly wasn't sure how old she was supposed to be, I figured it was late teens!

For the opening? The band is called Kana-Boon! They've also done a Naruto opening (Silhouette). Can't wait to learn more about Oburo later!! And the Little Hawks!

I haven't watched this episode yet, and that's a shame that the Bakugo/Todoroki scene is botched a little. More than any other character, seeing Bakugo's development is a particular interest to me, since I LEGITIMATELY hated his character (to the point where I thought he was written very simply and without consideration) until episodes 6/7 give context to his character. By the end of the second season, he was my favorite character (...probably). I've been reading the manga and find it very rewarding, but I guess because I'm a terrible broken human, I kind of prefer the anime. Well animated fight scenes and voice acting (I watch dub) go a long way to pulling me in. So it's kind of a shame when the adaptation seems to miss what I think of as a very obvious [IMPORTANT CHARACTER MOMENT] and kind of just shrugs it off. Especially with Bakugo. Also, I absolutely also read Bakugo's somewhat offhand comment about how "violence is necessary" when dealing with children as an example of saying a lot by saying very little. I don't think you're overstepping with that interpretation at all. Given the way Bakugo's mom is introduced, it's not surprising that a lot of people take that scene and this one with the kids to be 100% comedic, but I think it does speak to Bakugo's upbringing and the immense effect it had on his personality. If I'm being totally honest, something MHA could work on a little is being more careful about in one moment, using Todoroki's childhood as a well-deserved vessel for his development and to also touch on more darker subjects; and the next moment, treat Bakugo's similarly rough and bumpy upbringing as a gag. I get that the implication seems to be "Todoroki's was much worse", but abuse is abuse, right? Todoroki having it worse doesn't make whatever Bakugo had to put up with any less bad, or funny at all. Especially when you consider the fact that Bakugo clearly internalized all of those lessons as "necessary" meaning that if he ever had kids, he would likely just continue the cycle - at least, in his current, hot-headed state, he's OBVIOUSLY changing. Something Todoroki would never do (abuse his children, I mean). I mean, I know it's a slow burning series, but this is all stuff I see as central to MHA's themes, so I hope they cover it at some point; and it's also why this scene being mishandled feels extra bad, since it's an important step for Bakugo towards those things. All I'll say on Endeavor is that I had a very, very hard stance on him exiting the tournament arc/S2 which pretty much amounted to "I hope Shigaraki palms his head like a basketball." Now that I am caught up with the manga, I am... surprised where I am with my feelings on him. I won't say more.

This part is used to show us some growth of Endevor and the students. But also alot of worlbuilding. What IS the Symbol of Peace? How did the events affect the Kids of the next generation? We will see more of it next episode. Also at the End, just for information Toga is 16/17, so that picture is not that old.

loved your reaction as always! this episode is so fun lol. the little crime boss kid reminds me of a young monoma. the anime didn't really do that scene where todoroki is telling bakugou that violence isn't the answer justice. in the manga after he says that, bakugou has a flashback to when he overheard todoroki telling deku about his family at the sports festival. after that when he tells him to show him his way, it seems much less snarky and more genuine. it's too bad because it's a good sign of his development and kinda shows him being a little more empathetic. he thinks about what he knows todoroki has gone through and decides to let him try to show him what he thinks they should do. also i found him saying "huh? that's how i was raised!" to be kinda telling about the environment he grew up in. he's literally saying that he was raised to believe that sometimes violence is necessary to 'put kids in their place' and make them behave. that's not a mindset you learn from healthy parenting. i know a lot of people think thats reading too much into things but that's just my two cents as someone with experience. i can't believe they're actually planning on fighting those kids tho. like i know they wouldn't hurt them but guys, come on. there is no way this is a good idea. they're really just not great with children. poor five wee wee man lmao. also shoto hanging up on his dad cracked me up. on endeavor -- apparently an unpopular opinion but i despise endeavor and while lots of people consider him redeemed, my feelings will never change. im all for people growing and changing and deserving second chances. like i love bakugou and watching him improve from who he was in middle school. but i can't fathom endeavor being a redeemable character. shoto's older sister, fuyumi, is 23 and the second oldest of the siblings. we know endeavor forced rei into marriage and only had children in hopes of creating the strongest hero to surpass all might. so that's over 23 years of spousal and child abuse. and he still treats them like garbage. he may be a good hero, but that doesn't erase his actions as a person. that much time being that extreme of a scumbag isn't something you can just make up for or undo. if you grow to like him that's totally your right to your opinion of course, no judgment or anything, but don't feel bad for having a hard time with it. it doesn't make you any less empathetic or kind to be wary of a character who's spent the last 20+ years abusing his family. sorry for the long comment lol.

do you happen to know the name of the band? i didn't see it. they sound very familiar. You can JUST make out Oburo Shirokumo between mic and aizawa in the pictures. He has the cloudy hair. (you'll learn about him later and no that wasn't a spoiler) Omg and the little hawks. he is the one tokoyami is doing his work study with.
