Attack on Titan 1x12 "Wound: The Struggle for Trost, Part 8" reaction & review

Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction/review of season 1, episode 12.  This episode really drove home to me that there is a part of Eren that is just tired and wants peace....it's not a side we see of him in his conscious personality; he is always full of rage and determination against the Titans.  But it was pretty sad to see him just want to stay in his own little world....barely aware that Armin is at the window...!!!!!  Also, my little love Armin is SO brave!
Have I mentioned how much I love our trio?!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Thanks for clarifying that, you're right that it's not like they grew up together from a very early age....I didn't even stop to think that they were younger when we met them, so Eren's family had taken her in just a year earlier. I think you made a great point when you said both she and Eren could both improve in some areas in terms of the way they treat each other lol, though I have to say I can't blame Mikasa one bit for being so protective of Eren. After losing as much as she's lost, and Carla directly asking her to watch out for Eren shortly before she died, it's totally understandable! I'll look forward to finding out why Eren is so feisty with her lol. I always feel bad whenever Mikasa is trying to be sweet to him and he brats at her haha!!!! Like you said though, any human relationship is a flawed one in one way or another, which is what makes them so interesting!

Lol!!! That sounds about right :P Thanks for the info!

About what you were saying about Eren and Mikasa's relationship. Some people are under the impression that they spent a lot of their childhood together and practically grew up together. But in reality Mikasa only spent a year with the Jaeger family before the wall was breached. Her and Eren were 9 when they met and 10 in episode 1. Also she was only taken in by the Jaeger family, not adopted, hence why she still kept her own name and in episode one referred to Grisha as Eren's father not hers. So don't worry that their relationship is encroaching any incesty business lol. It's not really that significant of a time living together since compared to the one year they spent living in the same house, they spent 3 years living in dorms with the 104th trainees when they entered the military. You can only imagine how hard it is for Mikasa. losing her parents when she was 9 and then losing Carla when she was 10. This is why it's always bewlidered me that people back when the show first came out would complain that Mikasa is 'obsessed' with Eren, when she's not. She's just desperate to protect her family member because with her parents dead, Carla dead, and Grisha missing, Eren is the only family and sense of home she has left. He is her everything and she just wants to protect him in a world where people can get slaughtered by titans every day. Hell she leaves him alone in episode 5 and then in no time at all he gets himself eaten. He's extremely reckless and as of right now has constantly been in situations where he's in extreme danger whether it be from titans or humans. So people in the past complaining about her being overprotective of him has always seemed kinda stupid to me. Though she does definitely need to give him his own space, and stop objectifying to a certain degree and treat him like his own person. And Eren on the other hand needs to stop lashing out at her, it get's elaborated on later on why Eren get's frustrated at Mikasa in these early episodes. Their relationship has flaws but that's why I love it because every human relationship even with the people you love most will have flaws and complications. Usually like in Eren and Mikasa's case these flaws come from just how much each person cares for the other.

WIT Studio is the animation studio that does Attack on Titan. I found it funny how they show the name in the opening just after you stopped talking about looking for it lol.

Spoilers!! She.. is not supposed to know that and that is shown in a future episode (even tho they dont mention the people they show are Armin's parents). I guess its not a big deal that you told her.

BTW I am pretty certain that they never go into what happened to Armin's parents in the anime. In the manga his parents were shot by the military police for building a hot air balloon and trying to explore outside the walls.

OHHHHHH....okay....I did not pick up on that. Disregard everything I have to say about this in future reactions please lol.

Melissa Moore

Hello. You were talking about pixis talking about this being an expiriment, Pixis was sort of talking out of his ass. It's something the viewer is supposed to pick up on; that he is just telling this story so the soldiers will sort of accept Eren and accept this plan. The govt had no idea about Eren.

Thank you so much!! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed my reaction and seeing/hearing my perspective on the events of the ep! It was an incredibly powerful moment for sure! I hope you love my future reactions and thanks again for your kind words! ^_^

Love your reactions. Very genuine and you seem to really enjoy it and connect with characters which is great ^^. I felt the same way you did in this episode, so can relate. The way you thought of how Eren wants to be at peace was really interesting for me. Really liked seeing your perspective. In my opinion, this Armin - Eren moment... is so special and emotionally intense(in a way more than Mikasa-Eren). In fact, what really touched Eren here(emotionally) wasn't his mother or Mikasa, but Armin and their dream to see Outside World and the Survey Corps. My favourite part was how his father and mother stopped and looked back to Eren to see what he had to say to Armin's question. So powerful. Looking forward to your future reactions Melissa ^^ Keep up the great work!
