I see what you mean!!! This ep definitely fleshes out his character more and elevates him past "side character" status for me as well. Such a great moment!!!

2019-08-19 12:28:24 +0000 UTCI'm not sure how everyone else feels but too me Aoyama was MVP for U.A. this episode he went from a side character who made me laugh to a hero in training, also his clutch moment when he shot that compress guy in the mouth and saved tokiyomi.

Especially since they love making commentary on societal issues within the context of the world they've built in the story. I wonder if they'll go into it more eventually?? I wanna know too!!!!!!!!! The little bit of backstory we got from him, he said "Papa, Mama, how come I'm different from everyone else?" and then they give him a belt. What if Aoyama is quirkless and his parents are inventors, and they made him a belt that shoots lasers so he can appear to be like everyone else? Like.. he's basically an analogy for disability then right? I'm so curious about his past!
