Computer question..?

I’m in the market for a new laptop and I’m thinking I miiiiight finally make the jump to a MacBook. Everything else I use is apple and I’m at least strongly considering it. It would be easier for travel, too. Thing is - I’ve never had one before! and so I’m asking around to my people who have more knowledge.
I’ve gotten lots of advice from some friends who already own them and it’s *mostly* positive - but obviously this would be a sizable investment. How about y’all? Any suggestions for me? What to look at? Specs? I’d still use it to stream and then in addition to that I do video/photo editing. Thanks!!

The MacBook Air I bought in 2010 remains my primary computer, it’s proven to be durable over the years. Apple refreshed the Air with a new body design fairly recently (… I think?) but haven’t actually been into an Apple store to play with one yet. If you make the jump, probably a good idea to max it out with as much memory and storage as you’re able to afford, can never have enough of either attribute. 💻🤗✨
