Wrestling Merch Hall of Fame

I’m going through some stuff my parents have stored for me and finding GEMS but the best/worst has been my old wrestling shirts. You might know that Owen Hart is my all time favorite and was my favorite even as a kid - as in, I had and wore what little Owen merch they had out. THIS shirt I wore to school allllll the time and if you’re wondering why it looks a bit big, I should clarify that I only wore XL t shirts that landed around knee length.

I was very, very cool.

What are the best wrestling shirts you’ve owned or wish you owned (and don’t say The Rock’s HOW’S YOUR LIPS shirt we already know that’s number one)

The very first ROH show I went to was a crossover show with NJPW, and there were a *ton* of people doing meet and greets, so I got myself a NJPW 3/4 sleeve baseball shirt for everyone I was meeting with to sign. That is *easily* my favorite wrestling shirt, because it's connected to the memory of an *AWESOME* show that I got to see live and up close, talking about They Might Be Giants with Alex Shelley, and almost getting a signed picture from Shinsuke Nakamura because he misunderstood what I was asking to have signed. Dude is SO FREAKING TALL.

All these comments bring back memories! I never really had any wrestling shirts growing up as they were expensive for me and my family, but I suppose I have a space in my heart for the two I did get growing up at a WCW event. WWF always sold out of shirts when they’d come to my city, and they were often expensive, but when WCW came by, they priced their merch more affordably and my brother and I saved up for months for the show. We ended up buying the classic black and white NWO shirt and also this NWO shirt that had a billiard ball on the back (might have been the 6 ball). Kept them until they disintegrated and were full of holes. What I love about merch today is that any idea can become a shirt the same day and be out for sale immediately. Back in the days of ShopZone (I still call it that instead of WWE Shop), it took months for a new shirt you saw a wrestler wearing to be available for sale. I’d go to the mall and the store workers would have to be telling fans to stop asking about new shirts because they took forever to make it to the stores. But nowadays, you can pretty much order a new shirt you see on any show the same night and get it to your home in a few weeks (custom printing time). What a time to be alive!
