December 2023 Updates

Its funny but writing blog posts feels harder than coding. That's where I'm at right now.

I think I'm just going to blurb stuff out. Less words. Here's whats been going on in the Ayva world.

SR6 Emulator

This was... a lot. Getting the kinematics figured out for this was hard. Maybe over a month of on and off work. I'm so glad I revamped the OSR2 emulator first because it helped a LOT with the challenges I faced.

Totally worth the effort though , given its reusability. Its available as a standalone component for other developers to use here:

https://github.com/ayvasoftware/osr-emu

I updated Ayva Stroker Lite to allow choosing OSR2 or SR6. Ayva Stroker Lite has always supported the additional axes available on the SR6, but now you can visualize the movements on screen.

OSR Wiki

I launched a wiki for the OSR community using the Bookstack platform. Its still very young so not too much is on it, but I got the basic layout with lots of categories and a few articles on some topics. Its definitely a work-in-progress, but its supposed to be a community driven project anyways. It will become more useful over time as/if people contribute to it—which anyone can.

It's available at the very easy to remember osr.wiki.

Ayva WebSocket Hub

I finally released AWH. This is a companion app to allow web based stroker apps to stream TCode to other places, such as Virt-A-Mate, or a WiFi enabled device. There are versions for both macOS and Windows.

Further info and the installation guide can be found on the OSR Wiki:

What's Next?

Ayva Remote Enhancements

Now that the SR6 emulator has been finished, adding the additional control modes to Ayva Remote for the other axes will be trivial; possibly days away. I simplified my design for the new modes but I will share more about that when I release it.

I've been chatting with Tempest on the side about getting the T-Joy (multi-axis joystick) working with AR. I printed the parts and bought all the materials, so its just a matter of assembly and implementation. It might not happen before Christmas—given the intense need for a vacation—but thats next on my list as far as AR enhancements.

Support for Other Devices (The Handy, Keon, etc)

I've decided that I'm going to start supporting devices other than the OSR in my software, starting with The Handy. I just bought one online today and as soon as it gets here I'll start hacking away at it. Others such as the Keon will come later.

Promotion

My software (and the OSR community in general) isn't getting as much visibility as I'd like, so I'm going to be spending more time promoting and/or making the community accessible. You, dear reader, can definitely help with that. If you are a user of my software independent reviews go a long way. You can post on eroscripts or the Discord.

Vacation

I'm dangerously close to burnout and the end of the year holidays couldn't come fast enough. I'm just one person and sometimes it feels like I'm doing the work of an entire engineering team.

So I've set aside the latter half of December to focus on recharging.

I really appreciate your support though. This is still a very small community so every little bit helps.

Thank You and Happy Stroking!
