Both of the brothers fell in love with Katherine, but Stefan mentioned how she compelled them and Damon is in denial because he still loves her, which is why he wants to bring her back. Stefan recognized that she was cruel and manipulative, which is why he told Lexi that Elena was the opposite of Katherine, that she's kind and compassionate and selfless. There's going to be more flashbacks to their relationship with Katherine before she turned them in vampires so that'll give more context.

She was lying on the floor for a while "dead" in their house, and then we time-jumped a little and she woke up in transition. You don't wake up instantly after being killed so Logan being found "dead" at the scene doesn't really affect anything. Clearly they didn't keep tabs on his body.. 🤐

Lexy last episode told her that be scared is normal, it's a stage of human beings in love with vampires, convinced her she can do it. Elena is a young and impressionable an Lexi was a 300 years old lady, that implied in Elena's mind that she must know about life and this world, way much more that she does, so to take her advice at face value. Stefan gives her that trill, that spark into life she needed to push herself into feeling and not being numb, or sad all the time but to get some moment of happiness, she cannot afford to loose. As she said, she cannot loose the way she feels about him, even if she doesn't want those feelings, because she is is scared of the consequences, of all the darkness that comes with it, the big secrets, the responsibilities. Can you blame her? Who wouldn't be into two mind al the time?

IT took him 145 years of waiting for the comet to come back to put his plan into action, 145 year of waiting to bring back the love of his life, talking about commitment to love. Stefan was in town too, so Damon to make Stefan leave town, he killed few people to make trouble for his brother to convince him to leave since the people only knew that Stefan was in town. EP. 1 Stefan to Damon:" you left tat girl alive tonight that was clumsy of you" Damon: "yes, that could be a problem...for you". SO, once he realise that Stefan was not going to leave, he went into plan B action move: He study the people in town , wo is who, wo can take him into the Lockwood Manson to get the crystal, remember him standing in the town square studying the situation, and Caroline spotting him. He use Caroline as a minion, t get him into paces to be his hear and and eyes o the town, realising her mother was te sheriff a key player he needed to get her trust, Carol, part of the council, and Logan. Now he made a pact wit Emily back then, you save Katherine and I save your children and protect your lineage. SO he did, Bonnie exists only because of Damon. because at that time they people of the town not only wanted to kill vampires but wanted to kill the witch Emily and her children too. He kept his promises Emily didn't, se got what she wanted from him and betrayed him. Not only, She possessed Bonnie's body without her consent, destroyed the crystal in front of Damon, betrayed the promises she made to him, and conveniently left Bonnie's body just in time to let poor Bonnie that was completely clueless of where she was and what when on, to deal with Damon's very justified rage against Emily. He din't know she left Bonnie's body, he stopped when he realise that was not Emily anymore. Emily took advantage of Damon. He never care fr the other vampires in the tomb, he just wanted Katherine, an he is very aware of the council in town an the fact that if they knew who are the vampires an the witches in town, what happen in 1864 would repeat itself all over again. Stefan is not that aware as Damon is, on the town situation and the council, and Stefan always twists Damon's intentions into negative, he doesn't know his brother as well as he think and his self-righteousness prevent him to sincerely admit to be wrong.
