piecing together videos from the making of WUOM in chronological order for patreon supporters and stumbling on old footage circa still bummed—still. so nostalgic.

it dawned on me i should probably begin filming more of the making of blue of the sea as well. I film something nearly everyday, but I suppose most of it is flowers i think are beautiful, or a squirrel barking into my window. I always considered the actual making of a nouns record to be somewhat boring, but it's occurring to me that maybe that's just my own bias. plus, i'd probably want to look back on this moment in time years from now too. i mean, i do quite a bit of watching artists like ben bishop sketch and work on his comics, so maybe others would actually like to see how albums are made, lol. i've never been too industrious

i really appreciate you guys, by the way. this week (this month actually) has been a bit tough due to physical illness and burnout (chicken or the egg?), but i keep receiving more support now than ever before to keep going, to make cool stuff and have talked to so many people that are also struggling— i hope you guys are receiving support too for your hardships... life is wild, man. it's so daunting. I did stargaze the other night, for the first time in some time, and I was completely overwhelmed. Made me cry. This particular night just looked really pretty. It's weird how when you're feeling pretty down physically, nature stands out even more as this amazing thing. It just keeps going and is awesome in scope.

I've been asked a few questions recently about production and songwriting— are there musicians here that would like some kind of tutorials or analyses about music composition? I can try my hand at explaining the process. I just wonder if people are interested... I wonder where I would even begin.

i started playing drums before bass, guitar & keys, so i actually start most songs and parts with drum parts/rhythms first, i actually beatbox them out, record that and then copy what i beatbox

I’ve always been interested in the process of making song like how do you find a beat or rhythm you want to build on? The idea of music theory has always confused me since it feels like there’s so much I can’t grasp, but I’ve tried been playing in GarageBand recently
