The German Spiers found was not Hitler who had killed himself in Berlin. His body was burned. I believe an artillery round hit the body and blew it up. Spiers nickname among the men was The Killer. His nickname among the officers was Sparky. The soldier who shot Grant was found and convicted via Courts Martial. He was granted early release.

Two other series were created by the same directors covering different parts of WW2. "The Pacific" Covers the Marines who fought against the Japanese. "Masters of the Air" Covers the Bombers and The Tuskegee Airmen
