The assault on the artillery nest in the last episode was a hand-picked squad, whereas this is the first engagement by the whole company, and it's a frontal assault on a town with an established enemy position. It's no wonder they wanted to stay in the ditch at first.
The blindness was a trauma response. The show is doing an excellent job of showing us the different ways that people respond to combat stress. In the same way someone's legs might freeze up and they can't move. Later they call it temporary "hysterical blindness."
The paratroopers volunteered, and weren't draftees. I am sure that Blithe was as prepared and ready to face war as any of them. But no one knows how they will react. Again, this is such a great depiction of reality. Movies rarely show the shell shock, the hesitation, the fright that comes over many, many soldiers.
This show is, in my opinion, the most realistic depiction of war; moreover, it lacks the dramatization and hyperbole that almost all other war movies add to their stories.

I've seen this show dozens of times. It was only this watch that I noticed the face of someone who is featured in a later episode back when they were studying the sand tables preparing for invasions. Every time I watch through, I see a featured character in the first few episodes. It's kind of fun.

I love your reactions: they are genuine, heartfelt, and raw. Keep up the good work, and don't let the haters get you down!

Get off your knees bro. I’m 30 years old and they said several things in the 1st and 2nd episode that made me cringe. Are they terrible people bc of that? No. Is the world over bc of that? No. It is possible for adults to take constructive criticism and use it as an opportunity to learn and guess what, they are doing exactly that.

Definitely enjoyed it! I had a feeling you were from around Philly lol, I'm right outside in the burbs.
Who cares what you knew before? You're learning more by watching the show, just like we all did. And you're picking it all up, so f the haters lol.
Somebody on Youtube will definitely let you know, but Blithe's family watched this episode and reached out to the creators to tell them that he did pull through and didn't die for another 30 years or something. I think that was news to the survivors of Easy Company.

Keep in mind. This series 99% accurate. Told by the men if easy company. It's was not ,what you call Hollywood ized. Because the men of Easy Company would not have done it. Well done on your reactions.

You were shown the German soldier ran over by the tank because this series shows the many different ways men were killed in WW2. In war, death comes in many ways. It's absolute.

Yall. Stop the criticism. Not everyone is an expert on WW2. This couple is doing very well in my book. They even ask us to help out. So if you don't like it, tough shit. Leave them alone. And reacting to this series is also a learning experience.
