I know I’m super late,but I’m from Kazakhstan. We were in USSR back then and I know how things worked there. I watched your reaction until „i leave,you can’t force me” part. You’re not from Russia,Ukraine or any other country that was in Soviet Union,I get it. But you need to know that you can’t just leave,they are not gonna fire you. If you resist then you go to prison camp and camps in soviet union wasn’t fun. Even some great poets were in prison camps because of their poems. If you say „no” to them,then you’re done. You and your family is going to be slaves or prisoners. And in soviet union every person could be a spy,if somebody says that you don’t respect stalin,lenin and others,then they gonna believe it. They don’t even investigate,they are gonna punish you because of the words of other people. So for the future reactions to things about past events:try to understand that not every country is „good” like yours. Even now,when other countries can protest to demonstrate their position,we still can’t. Even for women’s day. Even if we try,they just kill us or send us to prison. I’m sorry about my English,it’s my third language

And after it exploded, honestly anything NEAR it (without proper protection) would be exposed and then become radioactive itself. For instance, once he touched that fragment, his hand became radioactive. If someone then touched his hand, now they're exposed to. Second question, you wanted to know how long that would be radioactive. In scientific terms, that depends on how long the "half life" is. In terms of Chernobyl specifically, it's said that it won't be habitable again for 20,000 years.. so a LONG long time. They will explain more as the series progresses but yeah its bad
