Exactly. It's funny how anyone thinks the problem was Otto or Alicent. No the problem is, women were barter back then. Women like Laena and Alicent were chess pieces that families used to strengthen their houses by combining with other houses and rising in ranks. It is an insult to marry Alicent or Laena and not make their children heir. You have offered their houses nothing, just took their daughter and had kids with them that you don't even intend to pass anything to. Corlys would have acted as Otto did because you wasted their daughter for nothing.

2023-09-14 22:04:21 +0000 UTCAt the end viserys thought he was still talking to rhaenyra, because she had asked him earlier, when he called her his only child, about aegon the conquerors dream the song of ice and fire, which is why Alicent was confused since he only told rhaenyra about aegons dream. Also, in episode 7 I believe you guys missed it when Viserys called Alicent “Aemma”, rhaenyra’s mom, at Laena’s funeral, and that is who he was talking to before he died saying “no more… my love”. It is clear that Viserys really only ever had love and cared for Aemma and Rhaenyra which is why he stood by rhaenyra all this time .

Telling her SHE IS THE ONE to be named queen because of aegons dream. Alicent had no clue about the dream because it’s only told to heirs and so she assumed he was talking about to their son Aegon.

Remember how he couldn't recognize people when they first showed him in his bed and Rhaenyra and Daemon showed up to greet him. He thought he was talking to Rhaenyra about HER son Aegon, not Alicent but of course Alicent doesn't realize.

2023-09-14 20:50:15 +0000 UTCI'm about 30 minutes in and soooo much dialogue is being missed or misinterpreted. Feels like they are confused over every scene. Not gonna lie, it has been cracking me up. Hopefully it becomes clearer as we progress through the episode.

If you notice, Aemond only got triggered and made that “Strong boys” speech because after the pig was placed in front of him, Lucerys was laughing at him.

He named her heir against centuries of tradition, breaking laws and precedence and then did NOTHING to secure her claim. He can give all the pleading speeches he wants now but it’s way too little too late.

The only way that this drama wouldn’t have happened is if Viserys had named Rhaenyra and then never remarried, or if Viserys had kept Daemon as heir, married Alicent or Laena and then their son would be the heir.
