Targaryens can be burned. Laena (half Targaryen/half Velayron) of course is the most recent example. But Jon had his hand burned in season 1 of Game of Thrones and Dany’s brother Viserys also died by being burned.
Dany is the only Fire proof Targaryen in the show continuity. Dany isn’t fire proof in the books, her surviving the fire during the birth of the dragons was a magical one time thing, but for the show they decided that for some reason to make it an ongoing trait for her. I just think it’s important for understanding HotD that yes, that Targaryens can be burned just like anyone else. They aren’t immune to fire.

what is the point of even saying this ? she is rhaenyra in the show when you talk about a character in a show/movie you use the pronoun of the character played , not the actor lmao. When they say ''she'' they are talking about rhaenyra which is a women.

don't underestimate viserys love for rhaenrya and aemma, even at the end of the episode he was kissing his ring, he made a promise and he's keeping it, even if it means he looks stupid to everyone else he's gonna protect rhaenrya and make sure she gets on the throne as he promised her

the time jump did not cause that much confusion if yall listen and pay attention harwin and rhanerya has interacted a number of times through episodes 1-4 tht hinted at them kinda flirting with each other yall just talk so much and miss everything

Make sure you pay attention to Alicent daughter when she speaks she speaks prophecy… it’s mainly figuratively so you’ll have to find out what she meant when she says things

bruh im saying! they would not be so confused if they didnt TALK OVER all the dialogue, like bruh i really like they reactions but please just pause if u have something to say because then yall start asking questions about something that was just answered that you didnt hear because your tryna come up with theories. Just let the show play, all your questions get answered if you LISTEN.

Indeed. They have a talent to miss important conversations, while discussing things

The time jumps r irrelevant. The dialog givs everything needed if u LISTEN. Alicent points out the paternity issue whn she gav the baby bak to Laenor. Yall were talkn. Alicent suggested she needed Larys help b4 he recruited Blood & Cheese. Yall heard it but didn't comprehend it. While the back story is needed, Im glad yall r at the time jumps so yall can stop focusing so much on irrelevant stuff.

it’s not like rhaenyra could have known that her children were going to come out with brown hair, obviously after the first she though she could keep trying for one with silver hair but ser Harwins genes are dominant over hair color. and yes everyone knows that her kids aren’t velaryon because of their obvious hair color, but it’s still rhaenyra and laenors responsibility and duty to protect their claims as future heirs because they are still targaryen even though they’re “bastards”. Laenor is gay (although him and rhaenyra did try to procreate but failed), but rhaenyra is still responsible for producing heirs while married to him, so she was still going to have children with someone to solidify her claim to the iron throne.

BTW, the reason for all the time jumps is because this first season is really all the backstory/set up for the real story. You need all this backstory to understand the "main event" in history that the show is about. Don't want to say more in order to keep from spoiling anything, just know it has a purpose. Also, the story they adapted is written as historical text, just a collection of stories and rumors.

Yeah I swear the fire proof thing was special to Daenerys?

Jon Snow didn’t have white hair and he was most certainly a Targaryen. You don’t need the white hair to be a Targaryen, but you do need it if you’re supposed to be the son of a white-haired Targaryen AND a white-haired Velaryon.
Also, not all Targaryens are fireproof.

Having no kids wasn’t a option if she wanted to stay heir. If she didn’t she would be deemed barren as a woman. Then Viserys since he is unconfrontational might’ve disinherited her as heir because she would have no heirs. Why risk losing her heirship?

Idk how that man was allowed to be king so long, someone should’ve poisoned him from early 💀

Btw Larys killed his father Lyonel for Alicent, the fire wasn’t about Harwin. During their conversation she mentioned that she wished Otto was still hand because at least she’d have someone on her side. Larys took it upon himself to murder Lyonel so that Alicent could get what she wants even if she didn’t ask for it. Harwin was just collateral damage.

People say Rhaenyra had no choice in having bastards since Laenor couldn’t perform but like…having no kids WAS an option. It sucks for her – obviously – but she’s the heir to the throne and like Viserys said, perception matters. 3 brown haired children is not a good look, especially when your claim is already shaky based on the fact that you’re a woman. Why weaken your position AND put yourself and your children in danger?

I like to think of Viserys’s role in the story is like the audience in the show 😭

I feel like people completely ignore the fact that considering Rhaenyra’s father is the King, and he LOVES her, she can just declare that her children are bastards fathered by Harwin Strong and Viserys can legitimise them as Strongs. Obviously it would confirm what everyone already knows, but passing off bastards as trueborn is quite illegal, and people can say what they want but Rhaenyra is the heir to the throne and people will not like her making a bastard her heir.

Viserys started all of this though!!! He is obviously not a good king. He’s too unconfrontational and he’s ruled by his emotions. Things that are perfectly human and personal but is disgraceful to their patriarchal society. Viserys however likes the power of being king so he does nothing to shake the tide. Because he’s uncomfortable with conflict of ANY KIND. Only good decision he did was making rhaenyra heir as a way to break this society. Whether he’s actively involved or not. But since he is unconfrontational he did nothing to solidify her position.

Rhaenyra proposition to marry her son Jace to Alicent’s daughter Helaena is a good one but it doesn’t serve Alicent so she has no reason to accept it. Alicent is preparing for war, like she said to Aegon. At this point she knows that it’s inevitable after Viserys dies. If Helaena is Jace’s wife when war breaks out, that effectively makes her daughter a hostage for the people she’ll be fighting against. It was politically smart of Rhaenyra to offer the proposal, and it was politically smart for Alicent to decline.

Imo nothing would’ve changed if Viserys had married Laena. Corlys was furious that his wife Rhaenys was passed over for Viserys and never got over it. Then he was insulted yet again when Viserys passed over his daughter Laena for Alicent. Imagine if Viserys had married Laena and then refused to make their son heir instead of Rhaenyra. Corlys would be enraged and insulted that his grandson was refused his right by law and would more than likely go to war over it.

I don’t understand why so many reactors just assume that Rhaenyra having children with Laenor was even an option. HE’S GAY. There’s a very good chance he wouldn’t be able to perform the necessary acts to produce children with a woman. Women can just lay there and “do their duty” as you seem to expect from Rhaenyra, but a man needs to be aroused to make anything come of it. Pun intended. Why is there no scorn for Laenor not doing his duty and getting her pregnant?

In the book it’s a history book basically written by biased people. There’s conflicting accounts and opinions that fuel them all by people not alive during the time and a few who were.

Alicent is a woman stuck and used in the patriarchal system. She is a product of the patriarchy. She tries to emulate a good woman in their society but Viserys is a unconventional person in there society. He’s unconfrontational. Therefore alicent who is ruled by the society because she is a woman takes over her husband’s role as king. Now she has become the “king” in a sense. Since Viserys is unconfrontational. However alicent was forced into this as a woman she doesn’t want this. She is a victim of this society. Sadly she turned into what hurt her. A misogynist. But she’s still a woman so of course men around her will use them to her advantage. Her own internalized misogyny makes her thinks it’s okay. And she gets angry at all these men of course because she is a human but doesn’t express it for “duty”. Her society and power. Which causes her on a personal level to neglect her kids and abuse them like she once was. She was disinterested in helaena instead of listening to her daughter. Helaena has dragon dreams which is like seeing the future but in a prophetic ways pay attention to her words. Aegon is trying to be a normal boy but she berates him for not conforming to the society. He doesn’t want the throne. She yells at him for not wanting his supposed rights. Blantly ignoring her king’s command and her husband’s desire of having rhaenyra as heir.

As for the time jump think of the first season as a prologue into the main story. They skipped parts of the story to show the important moments in characters lives that leads to season 2. Which is the main story.

Rhaenyra made a lot of bad decisions in their Patriotic worlds POV. She made human choices and is being brutally punished by alicent and others who agree with her for it. Rhaenyra isn’t the problem the world is. Fortunately she is the heir and she knows it. She did her duty by her father and married laenor. Made an agreement with laenor but laenor and her couldn’t have children because he is gay. Theres nothing wrong with that but that means they can’t have children. She had to turn to other means to have kids in general because if she did not. In her patriotic society she would be seen as infertile and unable to rule. She did what she had to do and I don’t begrudge her for it. Viserys who luckily for rhaenyra is unconfrontational and loves his daughter so much. So he lets it be. He is the king who’s word is law. No one says anything because they recognize the kings authority. Everyone except alicent and Otto and Cristion cole. Which is treason. Yet each judge rhaenyra for being able to change this world? And succeed. They are mad because it threatens the society they hold so dear. A wicked and terrible society.
