alicent whole pet peeve with rhanerya is petty, shes just mad she doesnt have any freedom to do what she wanted or marry who she wanted in her life because of what HER dad made her do. this sounds like JEALOUSY to me.

This is what made Alicent take rhaenyras lie about her “innocence” to the grain and feel like she couldn’t therefore trust her with her children’s safety just to remain heir to the iron throne, changing alicents whole attitude and come to be against rhaenyra. At the end of the day sleeping with someone in secret is a silly thing to use against rhaenyra just to debunk her claim and right as heir. Otto and Alicent are betraying the king by questioning rhaenyras position and as otto always has, granted rhaenyra shouldn’t give them more reasons to put against her claim, but she is again only 17 she’s gonna make mistakes but she still owns her responsibility strongly as she’s always done and wanted.

2023-09-09 04:54:50 +0000 UTCser criston was fully capable of not sleeping with rhaenyra, if his oath to the kingsgard was as important as he made it out to be he would never have slept with her to begin with, whether she came on to him or not. he didn’t even really try decline her, but wants to blame her after she declined his marriage proposal to him. yes she was wrong for leading him on, but he threw away his own responsibilities without even a thought really.

They were supposedly friends, but she immediately let Rhaenyra know she couldn’t confide in her as a friend anymore when she came at her so harshly, as if Rhaenyra had something to hurt Alicent by effing around with Daemon. It had nothing to do with Alicent in the first place, but she made it her business.

Also, as another commenter already mentioned, be prepared for a major time jump in the next episode. The characters are much older and many have been recast, except Ser Criston, who’s found the fountain of youth or something because he looks exactly the same.

This is the first time we see Alicent wearing her house colors, represented by that green dress, since she married Viserys.

2023-09-08 06:20:59 +0000 UTCI don't even think Rhaenyra realised how much she wanted to be Queen right until she was offered another path by Criston, so I don't blame her for rejecting him. On Criston's side, he basically came from nothing and rose to the Kingsguard on merit. He broke his oath and risked his own life because he loved Rhaenyra. It must’ve been a slap in the face to realise she didn’t feel the same way about him, especially since she pursued him. Anyone would feel a little used, even though I don’t believe that was her intention. I don't think either of them were wrong for how they reacted in that situation.

Finding out that her father was sent away based on a lie to protect Rhaenyra made her realise that everything her father said to her was right and that when push comes to shove, Viserys and Rhaenyra will protect themselves before one of her own. The costuming on this show is excellent because her entire story was told through her dresses: blue for innocence before she married Viserys, red after the marriage to show her trying to fit in with the Targaryens, and now wearing green as a statement that she's putting her own family and children first.
